He has a dragon's semblance, a dragon's frame: the right number of limbs, the right arrangement and design, down to each blued-steel claw. But it's his narrow eyes-- glowing pools set within the midnight shadow beneath his brow-- that are at once the most natural and the most telling thing about him; all else seems artifice, every inch armored in glossy, silvery blue aside from those eyes and his wings. His hide has such an innate sheen to it that one might imagine, with enough oil, it might mirror back whatever faced it; fine, darker lines articulate his joints and shape his already fine-wedged head in chiaroscuro to seem a helm that's larger than life. Larger than life also is the way he moves, with a powerful athleticism that lends breadth to an otherwise angular physique, and pride in how he bears the twin banners of his wings; they're richer, royal blue, subtly patterned as though with some crest that only the initiated may interpret. Any softness ends there, though. Even his tail looks as though it should clink as it flexes, its seemingly overlapping armor narrowing into a long, far-too-sharp tip.

Peer Pressure Egg(s)
The four eggs in this cluster are all super unique: though all edgily pointy and attired in black, they're different shades of black from aubergine to clove, anise to ashes.
How Bright The Knight Blue
Temperament
Ghena, there will never be a dull moment for you and your dauntless Knioth. Whether it's rescuing fair maidens, recovering stolen treasure (Rosvelth.), dueling for bragging rights, or slaying dra-- er, the nearest beastly foe, there's always something to be done, as far as Knioth is concerned. Life is a training ground and you are his partner on this path. Together you will stand against the world, and smugly judge it as is your natural right. What makes it your right? Well, clearly, the two of you are just better than most people. Not only that, but you're answering a calling, what exactly? Well, you're still sorting that out, but you have purpose, and that's something.
As a weyrling, Knioth and you have a lot to learn. You're young, and so is he, and he likes that about both of you. It forgives the mistakes you're bound to make as you train up, that you'll be certain to avoid in later life. While he's not particularly 'babyish' in the way that some of his siblings seem to be, his mindset is that of the youthful, hungry for the world and idealistic about what's waiting for you both when you're finally grown into the title of 'dragonrider.' His ideals, in young life, might be something of a headache because « Of course we must hear the lady Rillaeth out. It's our sovereign duty to give her due attention, » and « You'll see, I shall best Rosvelth in that battle of brawn. » And if not this time, well, he's sure that if you two put in just a little more overtime, you'll get there! Even if it comes at the expense of sleep. Or food. Or his beloved oilings. Nothing's more important than being the best.
Even in youth, he expects the best of you. Fortunately for you, he sees some of your less than favorable qualities as good things. It's good to be in the spotlight, though one should pretend to be humble about it. And pettiness? Well, he doesn't care much for pettiness, but criticism, pettiness' stronger sibling, is all good in his book. « If we don't instruct them on how they are lacking, how can they ever improve? » Laziness? Well, that's one battle you'll have to square off with him about. His enthusiasm often borders on zealousness, though, and it's infectious, so even lazy as you naturally are, you might find yourself unexpectedly enjoying some of the work he sets out for you both.
Chivalry is something he takes seriously. The use of lady and lord is only accorded to those he finds worthy of his time, terms he latched onto from the first time he heard a Harper use them. It's not exactly the uses the rest of Pern finds for the words, but it fits his need for having a way to assign someone a social class.
Ideals aren't the only thing you have to learn to live with. Knioth has an evolving code of conduct when he's young and the experiences he has along the way go a long way to shaping how he will behave himself in the future. Here's hoping you can influence him the way you want, only he is fairly stubborn when he wants to be, so good luck with that! One thing his code of conduct doesn't stand for is theft. It's one thing when a peon like Teisyth swears she had a shiny pebble that morning and now it's gone, « Who cares? It's not like it's worth anything. Or like she's worth anything. » But when it's a lady or non-peasant in distress? He's out to be the hero. So when Rillaeth is wondering where her favorite <insert thing here> went, and Knioth is sure he saw Rosvelth with one just like it, don't be surprised if Knioth mounts a recovery mission next time the brown pair is away from their couch. If it's a dividable something, however, Knioth needs his due for his services; after all, it ain't free to look this good, so the goods may be taxed appropriately.
Looking good is something that will cause you extra work, too. Knioth wants to always be perfectly oiled and shining. He can get dirty, but you'd best be cleaning up just as soon as you're allowed. Your appearance, too, is something he'll take interest in, wanting to make sure you're wearing the right clothes, the right hairstyle, the right shoes. He cares less about how you talk or act (to some degree) so long as you look good doing it. The degree to which he cares about your actions is the degree to which it affects your overall image. You both should be seen as worthy of respect and even inspirational. Of course, if you choose to inspire by intimidation, he's not really going to argue. It gets the job done and whether it's fame or infamy, everyone knows your names.
As Knioth grows older, he'll mellow some. He still has that unwavering sense of confidence that will have gotten the two of you both into and out of sticky spots over the turns, but he'll be a little smarter about when to piss off the wrong people. Bragging rights are still important, but he doesn't need to go out and do battle every day to maintain them, does he? Only if someone outdoes him, and if they never get the shot because he has more important things to do like preening his wingsails or polishing his claws? Well, that's not his fault, is it? Image is still important to him, he'll want to have the poshest dragonpad around and full of classy things that show your obvious status as Someone Worth Knowing. He'll start to be picky and choosy about which of his ideals he enforces. He'll still have them, of course, or think he does, but is it really worth the effort to listen to Solith try to string thoughts together if he could be spending his time lying in the sun? Well, maybe if she's getting proddy it is.
When it comes to the ladies, Knioth likes to work it. Some fanciful part of him thinks someday there may be that special green with whom he can have his fairytale ending, but deep down he knows that you're the only woman he really needs. Still, being doted upon by greens is one of his favorite pastimes. Flight losses are never his fault: « Did you see how Rasavyth cut me off? Acting like he has a right just because he's bronze. Clod. » As such, he's more annoyed about losses than truly upset by them, and it doesn't stop him from chasing the next glowing tail that comes around. All of this, however, doesn't mean he has to chase every glowing green. After all, some of them just don't strike his fancy, especially the more peasantish, which, fortunately for you, includes G'laer's Teisyth, « At least she doesn't have to open her mouth to speak her dull drivel. Have you seen how snaggletoothed she is? Watch her next time she slobbers on a porcine. Really, I feel badly for the porcine, even if they couldn't make a nicer couple. »
Being a part of a wing is rough for Knioth. After all, why should he have to act like an equal to those clearly below him? If you're lucky, you'll be in a wing where at least some of the dragons qualify as ones he deems worthy. If you are, you'll have a lot more smooth sailing. Otherwise, it will be like playing a game to try to get to a position of some prestige, Wingsecond maybe. or maybe many turns from now, Wingleader. It's a game he sometimes gets tired of playing, and after particularly long days, you're probably in for an earful. « Honestly, hasn't Cadejoth been in the game long enough to remember which way to turn in group drill? » Still, there are ways to get him in line and soothe his temper. A reminder that serving in a wing is how you serve the Weyr helps. He has a deep loyalty to High Reaches, or really, wherever you decide to call home. As far as he's concerned, the Weyrleader and Weyrwomen are his lieges and patrons, and he knows better than to bite the hand that feeds him.
Having a calling, and a lifemate who feels strongly about it, is not easy. But the good things in life never are. Between the two of you, you have all the tools you need to find a balance for what makes you both happy, even if that means agreeing to disagree sometimes. Together, you'll be (at least according to the two of you) some of the best the Weyr has to offer. « As it should be and never otherwise could have been. »
Public Impression Message
It's even as the candidates begin to arrive on the sands that the quartet of black eggs lead the charge, shells breaking away to reveal one bronze, one brown, one blue and one green, all sharp-edged and superior. It's the blue that leads the way after that, rather more nimble than his siblings - but all of them find partners in short order amid the milling white-robed candidates.
Gallagher probably could have avoided Lansha's shoulder-chuck if he didn't have Ghena hanging on his arm. Only, as he turns his eyes to look toward the younger man, the weight evaporates and Ghena's light feet are taking her to meet one of dragonets spilling from the first bunch. Gal can't help himself: his jaw drops. "Just like that."
Private Impression Message
The clarion call of a horn sounds from somewhere on the sands. Is it the crowd in the stands that congratulates so clamorously or is it another? The sands don't drift out of view, no. You need that view. To see him, leading the charge! Dauntless, the armored blue moves to meet you as you find your feet moving to meet him. « Ghena, answer your calling! » He doesn't really need to prompt you, but maybe Knioth just likes the sound of his voice. « Squire or fair maiden, it's your choice, but either way there are adventures to be had! Only we can't start on an empty stomach. So let's fetch ourselves sustenance, my lifemate. Forward, ho! »
Mindvoice
Metal and horns. It could be any kind of metal, from precious to worthless depending on his purpose, though the horn is always the same; a blaring ceremonial thing with all the pomp that comes with it. You might hear the cheer of unseen masses when you've done something impressive, or when he's trying to raise your spirits. And beyond the smell of metal, sometimes he shares the scent of earth, runnerbeasts and sweat. Blues dominate his mind touch along with those metals, and the metals mingle with shine, ranging from gentle as a moon-kissed metal to a shine so bright as to be blinded. He likes imagery, but it's usually with added flourish and gloss, better than life instead of true to life. The words he chooses to communicate with are important to him, and you'll often hear him choosing pretentious language because... well, it suits him.
Itchyspots
Warriors are always worrying over their weaponry. In Knioth's case, it's the hide around the joining of his claws, right around his nose and mouth, and on his pointed tail that gets the most itches and therefore the most attention.
Inspiration
Clutch theme was gladiators, so Knioth is inspired by knights. We'll call them the gladiators of the Middle Ages. We leaned toward more romanticised ideas of knights than historical, and leaning toward the kinds of knights who weren't as chivalrous as they were supposed to be. Some inspiration was drawn from A Knights Tale and Prince Charming from Shrek 2 for some of his cattier qualities.
