Quick Start

Welcome to HRW! This page is designed to sum up basic useful information about the area. Amendments and additions welcome!

Recent Events

Lady Issedi of HRH murdered. Perp caught and exiled to hard labor. (PoC: Devaki, hrwadmin)
Irianke of Igen arrives as a temporary transfer with a gold that's going to go up soon. (PoC: Irianke)
A global wheat shortage is causing bakers to do interesting things with food and a rationing of all wheat-based liquors. (PoC: Rose)
Two golds have died at High Reaches in the last year due to accidents. Were they really accidents? (PoC: hrwadmin)

The Area

High Reaches has a climate roughly similar to Whistler, Canada - long, relatively cold winters, and nice-but-not-hot summers.
People dress accordingly (more details here).
There are a number of Holds of High Reaches in our coverage area.
People get paid according to these rates (which aren't much - the Weyr feeds and clothes her residents, so pay is really for extras).

IC Leadership

As of Day 28, Month 12, Turn 34, High Reaches' leaders are K'del and Azaylia,

Hraedhyth's flight brought (hopefully) to an end a long period of instability and Acting Leadership that can - in retrospect - be traced back as far as the ousting of former Weyrwoman Tiriana, in Turn 28.

OOC Leadership

High Reaches has a separation of IC and OOC leadership. Characters with IC rank do not necessarily have any more of an OOC leadership role than any other player.

The OOC admin team is presently: K'del and Leova.

Getting RP

Ways of getting RP include: sitting in public, asking on channel, paging a person in particular, and so on. All of these ways are valid.
This said, please be mindful that asking for RP on channel several times in quick succession can be frustrating to other players. Be patient!
Please be conscious of other people's feelings. Attempting to guilt another player into playing with you is not cool; it is harassment.
As a general rule, if a person is sitting in public, they're looking for RP. While sometimes you may not be interested in playing with that person at a given time (you've played with them recently, for example), asking for RP on channel, or going to sit in public somewhere else, can come across as rude.
Don't just sit around waiting to be asked! While many players will ask, it is not anyone else's responsibility to get RP for you.

The Wiki

This wiki is a repository of all things HRW: character pages, logs, dragons, history, help guides, etc, etc. All players are encouraged to use it, though contributing is not mandatory. In order to add your own content, you'll need a login-- +mail K'del with a valid email address to be set up.

The Forum

High Reaches also has a forum, which is used for weyr-wide discussion and sharing of ideas. You can sign up for your own account.

-In Turn 36, High Reaches dealt with a storm that took the life of its only Junior Weyrwoman, [[Aishani]]. Half a turn later, it saw the [[:Category:The Death of Teris Logs|death of visiting queen Iskiveth]], whose rider, Teris, was controversially refused the opportunity to take her own life in the immediate aftermath. Although Teris was finally - under the table - given the means to die, the healers promptly ran an inquest to review the events, and decide on the fate of Journeyman Miska, whose actions as Acting Weyrhealer were in question. Towards the end of the turn, [[:Category:The Highwayman Logs|bandits]] struck out in the Nabol area, causing wide disruption - and stealing part of the summer tithe - before they were caught.
