Cage of Lightning Egg
Pacing the sands, Lhiannonth makes something of a detour to near her rider, dipping her head down near Josilina's. After a moment Josi laughs and the gold moves away to nose out a hollow and lay a large, squat egg.
A large and oddly shaped egg, at first glance it appears to be a perfect sphere until closer inspection proves that it rests on a slightly flattened base. This provides some advantage against toppling over but gives it a squat look that isn't entirely attractive. Its shell is pretty enough; the base hue is a dull grey but that canvas is softened by a web of violet-edged white. The jagged pattern clasps the egg's entire surface, bright enough to almost obscure the more structured designs that are hidden beneath.
Long, jagged cracks run down the sides of Cage of Lightning Egg at a particularly emphatic knock from within. A second hit shatters the egg so suddenly that it seems it's whole one minute, in shards the next, leaving a goo-covered blue in the wreckage.
Shimmering Cobalt Blue
Shimmering cobalt rivers flow over the hide of this dragonet in waves that enhance the curves of his muscles, shattering the uniformity of that blue hide. Enveloped in the coolness of the colors, each movement made displays the strength of body and the delicacy of the lines. The cobalt hues slide smoothly down his trim frame to meet in a handfasting of deep blue and cobalt at the tip of the long, saucy tail. The mixture of shimmering colors over his membranes from the leading to the trailing edges, weave an intricate pattern of whorls and loops. The dragonet's wedge-shaped head is usually tilted in an inquisitive manner or amused manner.
Temperament
He is always curious and quick with an amusing retort. However, this delightful pair of characteristics is marred by his deep consuming need to center on himself. He is truly narcissistic, arrogant and full of personal drama, all the time trying to find a way to get ahead by hook or crook. His narcissistic tenancies feed into his patience as well, something that grows more apparent as he ages. When the plan is his own, he has no troubles deciding on an intricate set of means to follow to the desired end. However, when it becomes time to rely on others to decide, that is where his patience unravels and he makes up their minds for them, often recklessly choosing a course.
His personality flaws are actually a positive in this case. He is conniving which enables him to perform and make decisions to get him closer to his goal quicker than most. He is adept at twisting the truth to charm a female but, unfortunately, those that know him know not to take the compliment at face value. His cunning allows him an effective edge when drilling (or fighting Thread), with the ability to not only decisively make a quick assessment of a situation, but put his plan instantly into action serving him well in all things in the air. Self preservation is strong with him and if it's left up to him, not only will he be the dragon least marked by paint at the end of the drill, but he will excel in all matters where he mostly just needs to rely on himself.
The ability to work with others will always be his greatest downfall from weyrlinghood up through adulthood, and although with you he is able to overcome this fault, it always will be a part of him. His decisions don't generally take into account the effects on others around him, and only rarely the long term effects of the rippling waves created when he drops his pebble of action into the pond. For those things he will rely on you to help him see, even though he may still argue with you that his way would have been quicker and more effective. Not one to dwell on past mistakes, he is brash and self-confident, using bravdo to disguise his true, sensitive character along with humor and innuendo. He may also have something of a problem with ownership: that is, he doesn't think much of it. You'll have to be wary and keep an eye out for his tendency to nick the belongings of other dragons, or even other people - something that will be especially problematic in the confines of the barracks during Weyrlinghood. Looking good while doing what needs to be done is important to him so he makes sure he follows through with that as well. He's surely dramatic though ultimately, he will take life as it comes.
Public Impression Message
Shimmering Cobalt Blue screeches at a few of the candidates who, clustered together, have focused most of their attention on one of the other dragonets. With a toss of his head, he stalks off along the line, peering narrowly at the candidates he passes until he reaches one in particular: a young woman with gray-streaked brown hair. In front of her he stops and looks up, waiting expectantly.
Private Impression Message
« Charis! » As your eyes meet those of the blue in front of you, your whole world shifts, pulling you away from the heat and noise of the Sands to focus entirely on him for a shining instance: Qeteth. « Stop standing there, you silly thing - I'm here now! Now, will you come and find me some food, or what? »
Mindvoice
Qeteth has a fairly mellow voice, but he has a tendency to jump from topic to topic, speaking quickly so even you may sometimes need to ask him to slow down, or repeat what he means. His mindpresence often sparks with bright colors to match his speed, though low glints of sliver and red appear when he's feeling mischievous or being evasive.
Dragon Inspirations
Your dragon is based off of Vala from Stargate - a mischievous thief, among other things, she'll be sure to keep you on your toes!
Egg Inspiration: The lightning shield that protected Ming the Merciless' city in 1980?s _Flash Gordon_.
