Clutch35

Month 1

A'rist

A'rist spent most of the first month trying not to forget how to string full sentences together, and, despite this, generally not finishing the ones he'd started. He tried to socialise with the other weyrlings, he really did, but it's difficult when there's a very strong, very one-point-at-a-time sort of mind suddenly attached to yours. Lythronath will not have been as amicable. It's not that he's mean, it's just that most of his clutchmates don't 'get' him, and he doesn't feel it necessary to help them along. Now, to try and disrupt their routines... Toward the end of the month, A'rist will be coping a bit better. There are surely some clutchsiblings who are grateful when some of A'rist's influence starts to show in the little bronze, instead of it being solely the reverse, too.

G'laer

Some might have hoped that Impression would have effected an over-night change making Gallagher become G'laer the Gregarious, like his lifemate, Teisyth, seems to be. Those hopes, however, are utterly disappointed. If anything, since Impression, G'laer has becomes more silent and introspective. He prefers, it seems, the solitary company of Teisyth to spending time with the other weyrlings. When he is out and about, it's because Teisyth wants to be. He'd been heard to say just after the hatching that Teisyth was supposed to be bronze (something the green evidently found hilarious). He doesn't seem to be talking much beyond when he needs to, not even to his sister (not that they seem terribly close). For all of that though, he's probably one of the more obedient weyrlings, doing as he's told without questioning it. Teisyth... well, she's fairly obedient, although she did discover how funny it is when the WLMs come running when she creels like she's hungry or hurt or whatever; so that was entertaining to her in the first few days. She meant no harm, but even with explanation as to why that's not okay, she still thinks it's funny. G'laer, like others, has been having very wakeful nights between feedings and oilings (both of which he tries to anticipate, though Teis isn't helpful to that aim), and for another bedtime story or a cuddle or a drink of water or a-- ... The requests seem to be endless. But at least she does sleep sometimes.

L'sha

L'sha seems to be adjusting quite well to weyrling life and has a close, strong bond with Rillaeth. He's one of the more social weyrlings, getting along well with them, with a few exceptions, the most notable being G'laer. His relationship with his fellow greenrider before was somewhat strained at best, but now it's turned downright frosty. L'sha is very upset by G'laer's attitude toward Teisyth and the fact that he wanted a bronze. Rillaeth and Teisyth, on the other hand, get along like gangbusters. Rillaeth and Knioth seem to have a good relationship as well, and L'sha gets along well with Ghena. Not that everything is roses in the pair; some may note that L'sha and Rillaeth tend to be the last or nearly last ones out of the barracks in the morning, due to L'sha's difficulties in rousing his lifemate in the morning. Rillaeth has also taken to stargazing before she hits the hay as well, perhaps contributing to her slow awakening in the morning.

Rh'mis

Rhey (who still answers to that name far more readily than 'Rh'mis') has largely kept to himself, thus far. It's hard not to know who he is, given the unusual way in which he joined the class, but he's not terribly forthcoming about himself, and prefers not to socialise with his fellows (when possible). Rosvelth is far more social, and seems to be keeping his rider on his toes: they're often up late at night, and though Rhey rarely if ever refers to his dragon by name, there have certainly been some sharp admonishments.

Month 3

A'rist

A'rist is almost fully recovered from the shellshock (pun intended?) of Lythronath's impression and continued behavioural... behaviours. He's spent the month coming to win at least 60% of the battles of wills with Lythronath (many of which take place just in front of Rhey's couch). With this comes new confidence, but also the occasional bluntness or even flare of temper, side effects of butting heads with his bronze. He's progressing in his studies and enjoying the physical training more. He's also come to accept that the entrance to Lythronath's couch is just going to be painted and repainted with blood, and after Lythronath's hunts is focused only on cleaning up bits of flesh and intestine that might go a little more rancid than the dragon's other choices of 'decor.'

Lythronath remains as communicative as ever, with only one or two exceptions of stringing as many as three words together.

G'laer

G'laer is just a very busy weyrling. Teisyth's proven to be a little accident-prone and the two are struggling a bit with their pairing. They keep to themselves in free time besides regularly tutoring Ghena (and anyone else who wants it, as long as they can put up with him) and are oft seen in the company of one of the older male-on-green riders (M'raz) the Weyr has, their mentors. But it's mostly business as usual for them.

Ghena

Klohi

Though Klohi is still very vocal about how strange the Weyr and its people are, she's at least begun to accept Quinzeth; however hypocritical that may be given the gangly green's own... eccentricities. Despite her (many, many) complaints, it seems as though she's acclimating to life at High Reaches well enough and her issues with privacy have more to do with being a (totally not) self conscious teenage girl than Holdbred modesty. She's especially touchy about morning exercises and her inability to do them well, and the other weyrlings will get to enjoy her whining about sore limbs and ruined clothes. If she's not tending to Quinzeth or obeying a stupid order from the Weyrlingmasters, then Klohi can be found grooming herself and undoing some of the (icky-gross) damage caused by training and having such a young lifemate.

Though she's often singing the green's praise, Quinzeth is as much a troublemaker as any of her siblings. There's rarely any malice in the things she does, but once she's managed to cause a little chaos the dragonet is all too happy to sit back and enjoy her handiwork... usually while giggling madly in her own head. Given that Lythronath is one of the easiest 'tools' for such mayhem, Quinzeth spends plenty of time with her bronze sibling and finding ways to rile him up. Naturally, Klohi blames Lythronath and A'rist while fighting back her own frustrations at who her dragonet chooses to socialize with. Ugh.

...UGH!

Quinzeth continues to be oddly shaped (though I wouldn't say as much to Klohi), with her over sized head and eyes, fat belly, and scrawny limbs that strain to preform as well as the hyperactive green might require. So far, the injuries have been minor.

L'sha

L'sha is as full of enthusiasm as ever for nearly every facet of his weyrling training, especially for milestones like Rillaeth's first successful solo kill. He's especially anxious and jittery about the first flight, becoming almost unbearable in chattering about flying, techniques and maneuvers, even though he knows the first flight is only a glide. The one area he's performing dismally at is self-defense. His reflexes are excellent and he's quick enough to dodge many attacks, but his own attacks are flimsy and easily blocked. He doesn't really lack for strength, as he's doing the same firestone-sack exercises and calisthenics as the rest of the class, so he's getting stronger every day. There's just something that's off about him when it's time to go for the kill. He's often seen with fresh bruises on days after self-defense lessons. Other than that, he gets along well with most of the rest of the class, as bubbly and outgoing as always. His relationship with G'laer remains cool, however, for reasons he seems to keep to himself.

Rh'mis

You'd think that, by now, Rhey would be more used to How Things Are... but no. No, he still pretty much refuses to answer to 'Rh'mis', and while Rosvelth is well enough cared for, physically, it's pretty clear that they're not as close as most of the other pairs. Rosvelth seems happy enough, though, so perhaps it's not a problem? Maybe? Physically, he's graceful and quick, but lacks stamina, despite all the exercises they're doing. He's easily winded, and occasionally seems to have difficult breathing, though he'll always refuse help.

Rhey is quite obviously affected by the death of Rone, and seems to retreat into himself even more than usual after that. He also seem to receive more mail for a while, though always directly to him, via firelizard, rather than through official channels. He writes a lot, too, and doesn't seem terribly happy about what he's writing. Indeed, he seems downright frustrated, and clipped in his answers.

Lythronath's continued... efforts are also not making him happy. It's a thing. He does not, however, make any attempt to retaliate.

Month 4

A'rist

So it turned out that flying was an excellent way to drain Lythronath's energy. The barracks were a calmer place in month 4, with Lythronath spending much of his time napping, mostly because A'rist had him spending the rest of his time doing physical things. The peace and quiet had, at times, seen some of the personality demonstrated by Aoristen in candidacy (more personable, and occasionally even playful) surfacing, but there's certainly a new gravitas that seemed - now things had settled - to be a permanent change. There were also hormones, though, and A'rist, despite his efforts, had been demonstrating his fifteen turns, occasionally brooding over clashes with other weyrlings, or finding sharp words slipping out.

There was very little public reaction from A'rist to his receipt of the silver thread, though some may have seen him, very, very carefully, weaving it into his weyrling knot one night after Lythronath had fallen asleep.

And just 'cause Lythronath's been tired didn't mean that certain green dragons hadn't been able to talk him into destroying things or being a general menace now and then. Not naming anyone. Quinzeth.

Month 6

A'rist

Month 5 has not been an easy one for A'rist, though Lythronath has seemed content enough. With continued flight exercises - including carrying the extra weight of his rider - the bronze has continued to be slightly more subdued in the barracks, if never actually docile. A'rist has been a bit more prickly in formal drills and inspections. It has probably been obvious to others that this is on account of friction between himself and L'sha, though A'rist of course thinks he's done well enough to conceal it. Between old blame for the incident that saw A'rist getting stitches in his leg, and, over time, a general frustration with L'sha's leadership style, the bronzerider spent most of his time trying to behave himself, but also discovering a steely unwillingness to bend to demands he found unreasonable, regardless of officially assigned rank. He has tried to behave himself in other aspects, which is perhaps why he's avoided weyrlingmaster intervention.

So there's been a bit of teenage rebellion. Lythronath's painting of his couch has remained consistent, and A'rist has carefully cleared the trails through the rest of the barracks, and the chunks of meat, and also carefully not cleared any blood from the entrance to his and his dragon's own personal sleeping area. He's managed some strange teenage alliances with others whose behaviour he might not otherwise have found acceptable (like Klohi), though he's not gotten overly close to anyone - with the noted exception of greenrider G'laer.
