Lina
Description
Lean grace and gentle curves define Lina. Her hair is a short cap of loose black curls that frame a classically pretty face. Green eyes are shaded by thick, dark lashes and well-groomed brows. Her lips are naturally upturned, and lends her an appearance of good humor. Her body is that of a dancer's, though her curves are a little generous. Natural grace goes a long way towards masking the heavy limp she has on her right side, and a close inspection will reveal threadscore on her lower neck and collar that is generally hidden by a careful application of makeup.
Long pants and long sleeves are what Lina wears, no matter the weather. Elegant, well-fit cuts are the call of the day, classic black pants over sturdy black boots. Her top is likewise fitted, though a splash of violet under her riding jacket brings relief to what would otherwise be unrelenting darkness. On her shoulder is a High Reaches Weyr knot for an assistant weyrlingmaster, threaded with a ribbon of green.

History
Lina was born and raised at Benden Weyr. She impressed there not long after her fifteenth turnday, to green Aryeth. There is nothing terribly remarkable about her past: she was fostered in the lower caverns, grew up flirting with the weyrboys, and never wanted anything except to be a rider.Together, the pair were known mostly for their acrobatic skills (both together in the air, and individually-- Lina had a bit of a daredevil streak in her, and wasn't afraid to pull showoffy gymnastics in scary-high places).
But then there was the Comet Pass. They made it through the first few falls relatively unscathed, and it is perhaps this confidence that led to their accident. An ill-advised roll in midair led to a tangle of thread scoring Aryeth's neck and shoulder joint, and all down Lina's right side. They were out of commission for months while they healed, and the scars were such that neither was able to recover their former grace. As they were restricted from full flight duty for so long, they eventually came to pass the time by mentoring weyrlings. As they were an object lesson in what can happen when one becomes overconfident, this was encouraged and eventually they joined the weyrlingmaster staff. Their stint was brief, though, as not long after they regained full flightworthiness they petitioned for a transfer - to High Reaches - to make a new beginning of it.
