Craft Complex, High Reaches Weyr

A passageway hewn into the rock and heavily patched with cement leads a short distance in to the bowl wall, with a door on either side. Lit by regularly spaced glows, the white-washed walls have been covered over by colorful tapestries, wall hangings and pieces of art made from metal and wood. To the left of the entranceway, just a single step inside, a spiral staircase opens out of the wall, leading upwards through the stone. Further down, a doorway opens to either side of the corridor, while at the far end, there is a hewn-stone staircase leading up to the residential quarters, wreathed by two final doors to private quarters and the bathing room.

The door leading to the east opens into an expansive room that seems to provide both general working space - with long, bare benches and chairs - and a cozy lounge complete with over-stuffed sofas and a few fuzzy armchairs. Three tall windows are carved into the stone, and offer air and light when the heavy wooden shutters are left open, though the lounge area has to make do mostly with glows. A hearth at the back of the room provides both heat and basic cooking facilities. The white-washed walls are bedecked with decoration - from quilts, to tapestries, to wooden carvings and metal sculptures.

The western door leads into another passage, off of which the main workrooms have been built. The loading dock is at the northern end, leading back out into the bowl, with the rest of the rooms leading deeper and deeper into the wall.

When the day's work is just about done, that's when Hana will be approached by another in the lower caverns. The woman is sure to stress, as she's been told, that there is no rush but whenever Hana is able, Azaylia will want to see her in the craft complex. And so she is, the weyrwoman tucked into an over-stuffed couch on the very edge of the hearth's reach. There's a paltry fire to keep a pat of klah warm and to heat a kettle, no need for fire's heat in the oncoming evening. In the pale yellow sundress she's grown fond of, the goldrider almost looks the part, especially with expertly plaited braids leading back to a a loose, though tidy bun in the back of her head. At the moment, Azaylia is distracted by the hustle and bustle of the craft apprentices and their superiors: people watching.

Hana finishes up her current chore, leaving behind a cleaned working space before heading across the complex. She herself is in a lighter dress, though favoring the same colors, a bit of ankle showing and a goodly amount of arms, though the rest is as modest as ever. Peeking here, then there, the weyrwoman is eventually found and greeted with a quick smile, "Good evening, ma'am," is offered cheerfully.

"Hana." As much a greeting as it is a familiar scold at being addressed as 'ma'am', "I didn't pull you away from anything too important?" Legs slip out from under her, skirt a modest pool as she sits sideways and pats at the empty spot next to her. The silent invitation is made before she hears Hana's answer, unintentional in her confidence that the younger woman is free. "How was your day?" Genuinely curious, though distracted as she turns at the waist to reach for a thick book tucked between her back and the couch's armrest. It comes to rest on her lap, elegant fashion sketch etched into the leather cover along with the current turn's number.

A bit of a laugh is given at the scolding address, before she shakes her head, "I had mostly finished up with the idea of starting to plan a gift for Issedi's upcoming blessing, so there was nothing important to be pulled away from," she offers, before taking the indicated seating, "Fairly well. Among other things, peeking at the fabrics available in the storerooms," she mentions impishly as she espies the fashion sketch book.

Hana need say no more, and at the mention of fabrics Azaylia is turning the catalog over to the hairdresser, "Then here. I thought it might help inspire you. It's probably not as current as the ones at Weaverhall..." It doesn't seem as though the goldrider seems to mind. "It's more than just a rumor?" She sounds surprised by that, though hopeful, "About Issedi having another baby. So soon? Vinien was still crawling on the floor when they were visiting."

Hana picks up the book and starts to go carefully through the pages, "It is still current enough, I'm sure - at least, for now." She'll make sure Azaylia has a proper wardrobe /then/ start to worry about more up-to-date fashions. There will be no escape. And any cackling is surely a figment of imagination. "While I have sent Lady Issedi a message, I haven't heard confirmation yet. Regardless, it shall not hurt to start working on something now - if not now, then soon enough, I would even wager." And she's not good at that activity. There is a pause, then a glance up. "Is there any particular thing you would prefer next? A dress, skirts, shirts or vests?" she asks.

"When you do find out, I'd like to know?" So Azaylia can send her own congratulations, if need be. Leaning forward, the weyrwoman has become familiar enough with the copied designs to be able to get a read upsidedown. Casual, honest, and likely infuriating by now, "I don't know." At least she's had a moment to think it over. "I guess a long skirt might be nice... but what if I've got to run somewhere?" It's not a strange sight, though it should be, to see the weyrwoman bolt across the bowl from time to time. She tilts her head, neck bent awkwardly for humor's sake rather than a need to get a better look, "Not that I want to copy you... but which design do you like? If you were going to wear one?"

"Well, that is easy enough - we make sure it is a full skirt with plenty of material to allow for a longer stride," Hana reassures, a smile appearing. "Often the trick I use for dancing - extra material adds a bit of swish and flare." After a moment, she hms and taps at one sketch. It is a fairly simple dress - a v'd torso, high waist, and a long skirt - with, yes, plenty of extra material. "This is a good basic one - plenty of room for additions or modifications, and either a one-note color, or dual, as you please." There is a pause, then she adds, "R'co has requested a block of time at some point, to be hands on."

Azaylia is easily reassured, her own warm smile aimed at Hana. "Long but not too heavy?" They can worry about a fall wardrobe when it's time. For now the goldrider is enjoying the less modest cuts of summer, meant to encourage as much sun to skin contact as possible. Fingertip against thick page draws her gaze back down, appreciation carried out on a breathless 'ooh'. "It's simple, but pretty." For quality control, "You'd wear that?" The name certainly sounds familiar, wrinkles of concentration smoothed after a moment, "Oh. The brownrider transfer. From Ista." Triumph is short lived, the rest of Hana's words sinking in, "What? He... I don't know if I've ever made an appointment for..." Tick tick tick ding! "Oh. Oh. You mean for a massage?" She doesn't even have the decency to seem embarrassed.

Hana hadn't thought of it like that - but once Azaylia goes down that path, so does the holder. And she's fairskinned enough to flush. "Ah, yes! My apologies - I didn't mean to leave that part off. I did, however, counter-offer with an option of an afternoon tea, perhaps to plead his own case in a comfortable setting." Unsaid and totally able to be heard, is the 'civilized' placed somewhere in the end of all that. "I think so. Embroderied, of course, but if we go with lighter fabrics in the skirting, that'll add to the coolness, and give it a bit of lift for when you walk - or run, of course." The fact it'll trail behind when running is left unsaid. It'd be pretty!

That flush has some time to burn Hana's cheeks before Azaylia realizes, smile pinched with stifled laughter. "It's alright. I'd be suspicious of him insisting his services if I wasn't sure he didn't like women that way." No inflection either way, and any damage done to the other woman's cheeks will be purely accidental. "Afternoon tea sounds perfect. It gives me a chance to see how he's doing." And yes, give the brownrider a chance to plead his own case. There's been little fight from the weyrwoman this evening as far as Hana's assistance goes. Perhaps she's finally getting used to the help? Not likely! The well-behaved goldrider springs her trap, nearly giggling in her glee, "In blue and green, right? Alright. It's yours." Make no mistake, she reaches over to tap the design. "Yours."

Hana opens her mouth, then pauses. She thinks it over. Finally, she hmphs. "I'll not argue," outloud, that is, "As I think that design in those colours would be perfectly /lovely/. However, we still need another dress for you. Unless you don't mind having a similiar dress as she who does your hair?" the question is asked with a hint of teasing towards the end, though the intent to see Azaylia dressed out more is clearly there.

"I'll put the order in tonight." Rushed words are paired with a sigh of relief at the lack of a fight. Azaylia's already wide smile brightens into a grin at Hana's huff, "If it wasn't the dress, it was going to be something else. I really do appreciate all your help, Hana." As reluctant as she was to accept it in the past. The tease is answered with a confident, "No." No, she wouldn't mind. But, "You would. So let's pick something else." This time her compliance has been earned, leaning over the book with her hands folded atop one thigh, her other leg still hanging off the front of the couch. In the midst of their search, the woman gives a jolt as she remembers, "I'm going to be visiting outside the Weyr each sevenday." She makes a note of which day, "It'll only be for a few hours, so you don't need to worry about clearing the whole day. And I'll be back in time for dinner." Still cheerful, if not proud for not forgetting to mention it to Hana.

Hana makes a mental note and nods in agreement, "That shouldn't be a problem at all - especially not if you are making it in time for dinner," she lightly teases, before pointing out a couple of different dresses, "R'co pointed out a lovely yellow, and I found a rich cream - not to mention all the colors the weavers have available."

"Oh, I like yellow." One would hope, given the hue of the dress Azaylia is currently wearing. "Cream could be pretty. It depends... and it's easy to get dirty." Practical, and surprisingly aware of the fact that she's not terribly delicate when it comes. Some of the dresses Hana points out may be too close to the glamour of a Lady Holder and weyrwoman who hadn't left home with only one dress to her name. They'll manage to agree on something before night completely falls over the Weyr, and true to her word Azaylia will order Hana's dress from a proper journeyman weaver. Hopefully it'll be done before the next gather.

I think R'co ought to perhaps hide the conversation with Bones.
