| Turnover Eve is not the most /convenient/ time for a tithe to arrive, as most of the Weyr tends to have the night and the next day off usual duties. Given that, it was probably no surprise that that, when the High Reaches Hold tithe arrived during that day, it wasn't immediately unloaded. But it wasn't unloaded the next day either. Or the next day -- when, in fact, the tithe train turned around and left the bowl, still loaded with its meager supplies. The story trickles out pretty quickly: the Acting Weyrwoman wanted the tithe turned over to the Weyrwomen or the Weyrleader; Lord Devaki said it could go through Glacier riders specifically or it could be sent back... so it was. (Though how one can turn over a tithe to a wing and not its Wingleader is up for debate.) Opinions are /obviously/ mixed on this controversial move: Some don't think the Weyr should ever turn down any tithe, even such a small one; others believe that the Weyr can't allow Holders to determine where and to whom their tithes go -- what's to stop them from telling the Weyr /how/ to use the supplies at that point? And there are those that will denounce anything the new Lord does, no matter what -- and what's his deal with Glacier anyway? One thing is certain: High Reaches Hold's tithe would have made it a leaner winter than usual to begin with; without what they /did/ send, there will definitely be a need to reuse warmer clothing, amongst smaller deprivations. Hopefully, the Weyrleaders have a plan to handle the situation.
