| Word from the wings is that one thing has been made very clear to any dragon and rider pair who have previously demonstrated a talent for Searching: don't. Or at least don't do so outside the Weyr, or too far from the Weyr, or anywhere in the Fort region, depending on who it is repeating these supposed 'instructions'. With numerous Holds still trying to recover from the damage done by Astivan's attitude to tithe and marks, are the Weyrleaders trying to avoid offending and angering holders by not stealing away young people who can work to support their homes? Has a deal been struck, off the record? Is it a demand from Lord Vaion? Is it possible a whole clutch could Impress to only weyrbred Candidates? Even if it's a risk, it can't be denied that there's a certain spark of energy amongst the young people of the Weyr's caverns. After all, perhaps they stand a better chance, with no 'outsiders' on the Sands to deprive them of dragons meant for them. /If/ there's any truth to the rumours... |
