HRW:Hooks
Character concepts were once utilised by High Reaches to differentiate between characters who were designed to add specific color to the Weyr and those who play more typically. However, we believe that all characters if created with a solid background and personality are concept characters, so have modified this section to list concepts we already know we would like to see complement the various personalities of our Weyr. We welcome characters with specific plot arcs that may limit the on-camera life of the character, as well as those whose concepts are more open ended.
Some of the concepts on this page relate more specifically to potential candidates, whilst others are more general, or even require characters who are not destined for search.
You may wish to glance through this wiki for more information on some of the concepts listed below, as many relate to events that have occurred at various points in High Reaches' history.
Background Concepts:
- Characters with ties to High Reaches Hold or its environs. These characters might have opinions on the weyr based on earlier dealings over the meteors; they may also have opinions on more recent matters. Did young Lord Braeden make a terrible mistake in breaking Issedi's engagement with Lord Aughan, and having her marry an exile instead? Is his dealings with the Exiles a good thing... or is it all about to go terribly wrong? IS Braeden indulging in a clandestine relationship with K'del of High Reaches Weyr? What possessed him to marry Yuliye of Crom?
- Characters with ties to Tillek Hold or its environs. These characters might have strong opinions on the weyr based on HRW's failure to find Lady Edeline's son and heir. They might also have strong feelings about Crom, based on the Cromese goods discovered with the boy's body (and the resulting implication that Crom may have been involved).
- Characters with ties to Crom Hold or its environs. These characters might have strong opinions on the weyr based on a long history of antagonism. They might also have opinions on Tillek, as the body of Tillek's heir was found in a ship filled with Cromese goods, resulting in heavy suspicion of Crom; equally, they are very likely to have opinions on High Reaches Hold's breaking of the engagement between Lord Aughan and HRH's daughter, Issedi - and more recently, the marriage of Yuliye to Lord Braeden himself.
- Crafters of all kinds, either longtime weyr residents or newly posted to enjoy the Craft Complex. All crafters with a reason for being posted to the weyr are welcome.
- Characters sent to High Reaches Weyr as spies to keep an eye on the increasing tensions between the Holds in the area. They might be from one of the holds, or even one of the crafts; they might also have an agenda of their own.
- Characters with ties to Monaco; this could also include spies sent to keep an eye on the Weyr, and the 'exile problem'.
- Brown and bronzeriders who would be interested in playing central roles in upcoming plots.
