He's all warm, mutable browns, this mid-sized and sturdy dragon-- at once fire-licked and liquid, like the orange glow of a setting sun over a dark, never-still sea. Ripples along his back and sides emphasize the breadth of his shoulders; as they continue down his chest, the orange tints grow hazier and the true browns starker, deepening further and further down his legs. By contrast, the ripples lighten as they rise, his wings and even his neck, right through the small bubbles that ring the base of his throat with odd, obscure symbols. His face is comparatively plain, with no markings to make him stand out amidst other dragons, though the set of his eyes affords him a determined look that jibes with the straightforward vigor of his muscular limbs.

Honey, Pull The Car Over! Egg
There's a rough-hewn, imprecise look to this broad and sizable egg, as though it were modeled by a sculptor who had never seen a dragon's egg in person. A patchwork of muted colour (perhaps once vivid) splotches the shell in faded streaks of drab olive and burnt orange. Though the pebbled shell is robust, some trick of light and texture suggests brittleness or disrepair, as if delicate flakes of paint might crumble away at the lightest touch.
Those slow pulses of ooze through the cracks on Honey, Pull The Car Over! Egg becomes gushes as, with an audible crack, a sharp wingspar punches through the surface of the shell. Within moments, the rest of the egg comes to pieces around the brown hatchling, who's frozen mid-motion as if he hadn't actually expected that to work.
Loyal to the Last Brown
He's all warm, mutable browns, this gangly dragonet-- at once fire-licked and liquid, like the orange glow of a setting sun over a dark, never-still sea. Ripples along his back and sides lend the semblance of a saggy hide, too large for the leanness beneath; as they continue down his belly, the orange tints grow hazier and the true browns starker, deepening further and further down the length of his legs. By contrast, the ripples lighten as they rise up his wings and even his neck, right through the small bubbles that ring the base of his throat with odd, obscure symbols. His face is comparatively plain, with no markings to make him stand out amidst other dragons, though the set of his eyes affords him a determined look. While his limbs and tail may as yet be awkwardly long, with an at-the-ready tension that's nearly ever-present, it's with a straightforwardness that strives to meet the challenges of the world.
Temperament
Akluseth was only trying to do that which was expected of a dragon his age: wander the hatching sands, find a lifemate, yadda yadda yadda. Same old story, even if you include boy-meets-girl! But, that girl? She's you, Edyis. Akluseth is all yours. His tenacity, bravery, and loyalty are all at your disposal (most of the time). Of course, it comes with his sarcastic and smart aleck sense of humor and occasional lame-brained recklessness (in speech and action), but his intentions are always good! He may not be exactly what you expected, but with his tendency to (accidentally) volunteer himself for every (possibly dangerous) adventure, he's going to keep you busy!
Though life will never be slow-paced with your Akluseth around, weyrlinghood will prove to be an especially challenging time... and that's even ignoring the inevitable, normal challenges of such an enormous life change. There's more to life than Akluseth ever imagined, and it's an awful lot to take in. More than his clutchmates, he seems to struggle with giving his whole attention to the task at hand; there's always some part of his mind consumed by tangential and often inconsequential wonderings ( « Do you think Olveraeth captured all of those stars himself, Edyis? » ). Worse, he finds it almost impossible to sit still, that body hard-wired for movement. It means he's adept at many of the physical challenges of weyrlinghood, but there's a trade-off in all those things that take focus. Flaming and between are likely to be of particular concern.
Akluseth doesn't want to spend extra time practicing, either; he's too impulsive, and far too interested in the world. It will be up to you, Edyis, to use your superior life experience to get him to do what's necessary and keep him from anything too stupid (like trying his wings ('accidentally') before he's been cleared to do so). Being 'the best' is not of concern for him-- unlike dragons like Neianth, he's more interested in just being able to do something than do it properly.
Akluseth's impulsiveness and propensity for not thinking anything through mean he can come off as a little seaweed-brained at times, especially in comparison to Lifreyth, Ahtzudaeth and Vadevjiath. Having said that, there will be times you'll find he's learned more lessons from you and the weyringmasters than you thought... though they're not always the lesson intended. He's unconventional, but his ventures succeed almost as often as they fail.
Bravery's not a bad trait to have, but Akluseth's total willingness to stand up and say it when he thinks something is wrong may prove problematic (especially since he might not have all the facts when he makes his initial stand). Facts and opinions are helpful to him (even if he might confuse one for the other), but feelings? Unfortunately, Akluseth is almost wholly oblivious to the obvious feelings in front of him. Yours are easier to parse, since you can let him feel them himself, but other people's? He'll need your help. Or someone's help, anyway, and even then... He is, naturally, likely to drive many of those to distraction, even natural teachers like Jorrth and Ahtzudaeth, and even naturally kind dragons like Roszadyth.
You'll be glad to know, however, that as Akluseth ages and enters adulthood, some things do begin to get easier. Understanding feelings is one, though he'll never be especially sensitive, and will miss a lot. He'll still have the impulse to just go and do, but he's likely to have learned to pause and consider, first... most of the time. While working in a cohesive team is likely to have been a challenge in his earliest months, adulthood brings greater familiarity and understanding; there will be moments when you act wholly in concert, giving you a glimpse of the true partnership that is possible between you.
The same will be true of a new wing, for while Akluseth may have learned to function well within Flurry, it will take him time to get to know the other dragons in any other wing. Although he doesn't naturally gravitate towards leadership positions for himself, left to his own devices, it's something he will work towards if it's what you want. Once there, he's likely to excel, though his methods will be unconventional. And then, of course, there's that willingness to stand up for what he believes in, and the lack of tact that goes with it. « What. I'm just telling them like it is. »
Like Lifreyth and Jorrth, Akluseth will be eager to explore the world, though it's equally true that he sees the world through a different lens than they do; he's far less intellectual than Lifreyth, after all, and far more energetic than Jorrth. Still, having buddies to do things with is important to Akluseth.
Girls. Girls will be hard, once they stop just being his playmates. Okay, sure, you're a girl, but not the kind he'd be, you know, interested in. Those girls are hard. « How are you even supposed to know if they want you to chase? » he might express with exasperation. They will baffle him, and even your explanations may not be enough to allow him to truly understand. It won't keep him from following instinct, mind; Akluseth will chase, and chase often. Flights are an adventure. Most of the time, he'll likely let his failures simply roll of his back, unless the green is someone special to him, in which case it may linger a little longer. Should he ever sire a clutch, he'll be a well-intentioned if bumbling sire, without much of a clue as to how he should behave. And your liaisons? He'll be supportive, and he'll listen like a good friend should, but he may only ever have the dumb boy answer.
He will, at times, infuriate you, and not understand what he did. Even in those times, though, he's the best friend a girl could ever have, and you wouldn't get so mad if you didn't love each other so sharding much. Akluseth may not always know what to do when things are rough, but he'll try, he'll always try, because you're always worth the effort to him. Together, you'll face every challenge life brings. Together, you're unstoppable.
Public Impression Message
Loyal to the Last Brown was going to look so cool when he took a fast few steps to leap and spread his wings, and land in front of the dark-haired, dark-eyed woman that is his lifemate. He really was... until one talon caught on the sand just as he made the leap and so, with fanned wings only able to make his nose-dive slow-motion, he ends up face-first in the sand before her. Smooth.
Private Impression Message
« A little help? » It could almost be one of your fellow candidates asking, so casual is the request. He's fine! He meant to fall face-first into the sand in front of you. It's just that getting up is proving difficult. It's only when you have to widen your focus to take in the brown hatchling and his predicament that the lack of the rest of the world becomes apparent. For this moment-- as a warm saltwater swell rushes in to briefly overtake your senses, the the way gravity just overtook him moments before-- there is is only you and your seaweed-brained, excited, « Akluseth. » Once the world has been returned to you and you've managed to get him up, he'll want food (and a lot of it) as any growing dragon would!
Mindvoice
The scent of saltwater is often a backdrop to Akluseth's tenor voice, itself swelling and receding as does the ocean. Sometimes images are easier than words, for words can sometimes get jumbled (and how often does he end up using the sort that are less than refined or diplomatic for what he mean, anyway?). Mostly he has an oceanic ambiance, the water growing heated in unusual moments of temper (or even more rarely frigid), but happy or grateful moments shared with friends can bring the scent of bonfire smoke. Akluseth's mind is generally as active as his body, and the undercurrent of energy can be a great pick-me-up on a rough day (or a detriment to peaceful sleep if he's thinking too loudly).
Itchyspots
As with any weyrling, Akluseth will have his share of itches and will be especially needy when those early growth-spurts hit (often suddenly and with no mind paid to the hour of day or night). Still, there's one place in particular that will bother him into adulthood. It's the part of his back that's difficult for even him to reach with the twist of his neck, just above his rump. It has a tendency to itch and feel tight, so if there's extra time that can be spent oiling it, he'll ask you to indulge him (and oh, please don't let on that it's a problem for him; that's a secret between him and the one who's got his back, in more ways than one).

Inspiration
Edyis, your Akluseth is inspired by Percy Jackson, the titular protagonist of Rick Riordan's 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians' and also one of the protagonists of Riordan's follow-up series, 'The Heroes of Olympus.' Percy begins as an eleven-year-old boy who, however well-intentioned, has had his share of troubles. As the series goes on, Percy finds himself forced into the role of the hero again and again. His character growth, development, and adventures through the two series made him a rich source to draw from in creating your Akluseth; we wanted to give you a little bit of everything you asked for without limiting his potential to grow and develop along with Edyis. The name 'Akluseth' comes from the name of Percy's pen/sword, 'Anaklusmos' a.k.a. 'Riptide'; his desc is inspired primarily by the Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, with a dash of camp bonfires. His itchy spot is taken from the spot Percy chooses as his 'weak spot' after bathing in the river Styx.
Egg Inspiration: This egg is based on those kitschy "World's Biggest _______" roadside attractions. Where I live, you often find them in rural towns: run-down, with the paint peeling off, but still somehow managing to draw tourists.
Clutches
Akluseth has produced 0 gold, 1 bronze, 2 brown, 3 blue, and 5 green dragons.
