Pay

Despite the communal living style most Pernese, and especially those of the Weyr, favor, a stipend is still allocated contributing members of High Reaches. Paid out by the Steward the day after Turn's End, then the first day of the fourth, seventh, and tenth months, this stipend is typically used to buy the fineries not found in the storage caverns: Gather wear, personal wine stashes, marks for betting, nicer bedding, nicer furniture, commissions of crafters and the like. Many Weyr residents also make a few marks here and there by performing odd jobs where they either trade services or pay (hair cuts, personal gardening, commissions of each other etc...) Crafters are not paid a stipend by the Weyr and are allocated marks by their respective halls.
