>---< Beachside Bar, Ista Island (TP Room - HRW) >---------------------------<

There's so many of these bars along the coast of Ista, set up in the
absence of thread to serve booze, food, and maybe even a little more if
you know what to ask for, all right on the black sands of the isle's
beaches. Mere metres away from the high tide line, the beach is strewn
with loungers and chairs arranged around tables, and there's a bonfire
blazing not too far away from where a trio of musicians play music to get
the patrons on their feet and dancing.

It's early in the evening, Rukbat just threatening to sink beneath the surface. The torches at the bar are already glowing. An invitation is sent out, to those parties whose business it is to be there. Edyis is already seated at the bar, dark curls tumbling loosely over one shoulder. The ink of the knotted twining oaks on her shoulder clearly visible in her favorite scarlet sundress. The beach is packed tonight, various games of darts and dice present. She wait's dark eyes watchful, but not over guarded, striking up a conversation with the bartender.

When the expected invitation comes, Largath brings N'rek to the visual sent from the Reachian brown. They wink from Between from Telgar, landing a fair distance away from the bar, and it takes some time before the Telgar shows up into the bar itself. His riding gear is gone, wearing a revealing black sleeveless that exposes his inked arms as he walks in. The bar is probably unfamiliar to him since he pauses to take in his surroundings, and when he sees Edyis, he heads her way.

When she catches sight of the Telgari rider, Edyis slips easily from the bar stool, strides over and is all too happy to engage him in their customary greeting. Once that's out of the way, (and probably not without a whistle or two) She's tipping her chin in the direction of an empty table, and when dark eyes rest on Alida, there is yet another huge grin. "Come on, lets grab a table before someone else does." She calls to the bluerider, and when everyone is seated and drinks are on the way, "Seemed like Ista would be a good spot, plus those ribs they serve are fantastic."

Give her a bit; Alida's busy doing...something when the summons/invitation arrives. The blonde most certainly *does* show up, however, and looks not only as pleased as punch to be out 'slumming' with a buddy (plus meeting the 'apple' of Ed's eye), but to be somewhere warm and hospitable. She's wearing something akin to lightweight board-shorts of khaki coloration, a pale-creme tank top, and buckled-on sandals of light beige, a wealth of her extremely fair skin on display, unlike usual. Spotting the brownrider while still at the entrance, clear green eyes lock in like lasers, mute footsteps gone unheard in the raucous atmosphere. She has no idea what N'rek looks like, and lots of people around here are inked...herself included.

Holding onto Edyis once she latches onto him, "If it was ribs you were after," Rek answers her, "we could have checked this place in Telgar. Bet you those are better." Edyis should know that the man enjoys his food. He moves towards the table and chooses a seat next to her, looking around to gauge what sort of drinks people order in Ista before he gaze lands on Alida.

The lady in red, is it? Palest eyebrows arch up in surprise, recognition, and some humor as Alida makes her way to the table, following Ed's chin tip that direction. When that guy slips his arm around the female brownrider...just for a second, the bluie's eyes narrow, and her dander is up. Protective much? Ahh, but her buddy's greeting him with like pleasure, so the guard shakes off her transitory mood, and continues onward...studying N'rek (mostly) the whole time. In this place - *especially* in Ista, the land of beaches, sun, and tans - she stands out in a fashion...much like a snow leopard would against the backdrop of a tropical forest. Somehow prowling even as she strides along briskly, the woman finally stops in that empty place meant for her to sit herself at, and merely 'looks' at her tablemates with a kind of relaxed curiosity. Waiting...waiting.

"We could have, but it's snowing in Reaches, and I bet Telgar isn't much better." Edyis responds with an easy laugh, and when she catches that reaction out of Alida, she can't help but smile. "So I suppose official introductions are in order. Alida this is Rek, Rek, Alida." A chorus of cheers and guffaws rise from one of the nearby tables as dice are rolled.

"Missing great opportunities," is all Rek says, seeming to be busy studying the pale blonde standing before them. And the bartender. He's looking towards the bartender, too. Ed makes the introductions and the Telgari brownrider gets up long enough to offer Alida a firm handshake and a, "Heard well about you from both Ed here, and Jo. Well met, Alida."

Handshake? Already? For a few moments, Alida simply stares at the Telgari's proffered hand, then into his eyes. Handshakes are perhaps more important to her than the usual Pernese. But, as this is Edyis beside her, the blonde finally slides her callused mitt into N'rek's, shaking a little more firmly than she usually does (not that he knows). "I want ribs, again..." is Alida's perhaps odd opener of conversation to Edyis and N'rek, the woman soon taking her chair, and placing its back to a wall (or as near to one as she can get) before she settles her rear lightly onto it. To N'rek is murmured, "Heard about *you* from this one..." Cue a chin-jerk at Edyis. "Jo too, eh?" Smirkie. No 'well-met' comes from her, merely a quiet kind of study.

"Mm, next time you pick the place then?" Edyis suggests with a grin, as though amused at some private joke. If she's aware of the tension, she's doing a rather good job of hiding it. When the server returns she orders ribs and a pitcher of something sweet and spicy to complement it. "Next time, is it?" It's a light tease, probably the most polite thing N'rek's said so far sine stepping foot in Ista. At least around Edyis. Around Alida, the handshake is returned and he nods to her as he seats himself back down. The study shee gives him is more intense than the one he gives her - his lying more on the casual curiousity side. He acknowledges the bluerider's words with a wry, "I imagine. Jo vouches for you, and so does Ed. She's told you about my interest in the business?" He nods towards Edyis.

"Woman knows my stomach..." Alida notes of Edyis order for them all, a faint curl of her lips given to her 'local' brownrider before she settles her back lightly against the chair's own back, places hands atop the table, palms flat. See? She's being above-board, unlike her usual 'hands under the table' mode. If the bluie overhears (and how could she not?) the other twos' banter, she gives no sign of it, instead turning her even gaze back on to N'rek as he speaks. Word of both Ed and Jo vouching for her brings a deep nod of certain acknowledgement, the blonde then giving a soft grunt and small bob of plaited head. "She has." And again, since she's playing 'nice' for a friend, the guard won't leave it at that, won't force N'rek to pull answers out of her like teeth. Instead, the untrusting one merely mouths a low and private-voiced, "Ed's primarily in charge, now...though my own contacts 're always gonna look ta me." Beat. "Ed asked me ta give ya' a chance...told me yer trustworthy." That last word is spoken with the faintest of emphasis, as green eyes hold the Telgari's own gaze steadily.

Edyis just smiles at him, and more carefully observes the two interacting. As talk flows rather quickly to business, she mostly listens, and there's a slow tap of her fingers against the table. "The contacts are mostly yours," Edyis confirms. "But both of us are spread a bit thin with as quickly as everything has grown, I was thinking running the first few with him, then splitting up my side of things." Dark eyes flicking between them thoughtfully, "It's an equal partnership Alida, you know that." Edyis is gentle in her insistence on this point. "Part of this is knowing the right person to handle the right job, and you've more background in it than I."

N'rek listen, falling silent as he mostly studies Alida. he lets Edyis say her piece before he cuts in to answer the bluerider on trustworthiness with an even, "I can be trusted. Not looking to take anything over. I have enough in Telgar to occupy me. Mostly, I'm looking for something on the side for a supplement. Any way you think I could help." It's an open invitation, leaning back comfortably as he regards Alida with a steady gaze. Nodding to Ed, "Give me a trial run at the most," he offers. "It my performance doesn't work for you, we can part ways. I won't question it."

"I think you gimme' too much credit..." is Alida's slightly-humored retort to Edyis' insistence about contacts, but she's in no particular mood to argue with the brownie, though she adds a laconic, "You knew *of* enough uv 'em, first. I just cherry-picked, fostered the best ones." Shrug. Truth. There's a small, but definitive nod for both of them being spread thin, however, and when Edyis speaks of sub-dividing her own 'parcel' of the business, the bluerider makes another, soft grunt. Then it's time for N'rek's take on things, his word on his own trustworthiness calling up a knwing, dark little smirk that touches only the bluie's eyes. "What is it ya *do* in Telgar, aside from the typical wingrider duties?" her clipped alto smoothly interjects, while the woman's hands slowly turn upward, inward, and touch index fingers and thumbs together. "Extra money's almost always a plus..." Trial run? Mmm. "Ya know this is near-totally above-board, right? We don' spread the details around, though. And the clients chat up others they think might be interested, anyway; spread word of the product for us." Edyis should know: the product is only getting better, and it's already good. No questions? "That's good..." No other comment is offered.

"Even so, it's as much your baby as it is mine." Edyis answers with a grin as drinks and food arrive. For the rest though, she falls quiet aside from a faint smirk about the performance comment, which is probably understandable given whose wing she is in. Ribs make for an excellent excuse to shut up and listen after all, and she digs into hers greedily.

N'rek goes for the drink first, pouring himself some as he nods to Alida. "As to what he does in Telgar, "I'm working on making rank in my wing," he briskly explains to her. "Sell some of the creations I carve with wood, though, that's a real slow business since my time is limited. I just like keeping my hands occupied and it's something I can do in my weyr. It's just time-consuming. I could the extra marks for materials." To the rest, as he takes a drink, "If this is a discrete business, you won't have to worry about me telling. Not my style." He glances Edyis's way.

"Fair 'nuff," is Alida's only comment to Edyis, a wry expression offered to the one here who's actually earned the blonde's trust the hard and slow way. The tiny smirk is noticed, but the bluerider's too focused on business and N'rek to bother to inquire, right now. When those ribs and the drinks arrive, though, there's definite food lust in the Glacier rider's eyes, her own fingers waiting only until Edyis' depart until they dive towards the huge serving platter. Damned distractions...but delicious ones! "Smells *so* damned good..." is her only comment before tucking into one of the meaty treats with even, white teeth. It's good that N'rek's gone for the drink side of things first, or there might have been a small squabble. As the Telgari speaks of his interests, ambitions, the gnoshing bluerider keeps her eyes squarely on him, though, once, her gaze shifts all about them to take in what's happening, and where. As always, ingrained habit. For those 'occupied hands,' however, there's a hint of a leer and a smirk which transfers over to Edyis for a second...though no explanation is given. It's pretty obvious, anyway. "I prefer it bein' discreet," is the blonde's simple comment between bites and licks of her lips to garner more tangy sauce. "I tend ta prefer cover in unknown situations." There's that shrug, again, soon followed by a wipe of mouth with napkin and a deep draught of drink. "Anybody asks, ya work with Edyis, an' sometimes trader Lidia." A tap of the last pair of fingers (clean) to her chest indicates who 'Lidia' is." Apparently, she's going to 'graciously' allow N'rek to try and prove himself.

Edyis might just blush a little when he looks her way, but there's a nod of confirmation and a smile. She listens rather keenly though when he lists the particulars of his interest in the venture, eventually filling her own glass after wiping her fingers on the provided napkins, only to start blushing again under Alida's look. "It's up to you if you want to use a cover or not," Edyis notes to Rek, "It's easier for me not to, just one less thing to have to keep track of, but the places we go, it's important to be careful about letting on that there are Reachian riders in the area. Monaco is full of bastards who could stand to be taken down a notch, but it's easier to avoid them all together."

"I've taken a class in the Jo course of no knot-wearing," N'rek tries to reassure them about discretion, his easy barely there but easy. "I'll keep covered." Looking to Alida now, "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the chance," and there's open amusement as he watches the women eat those ribs. For now, he's opting for the drink, though perhaps Edyis will know he will dig into them eventually. "I won't let you both down."
