It was a rather nice day, considering the season, and most of the time was spent outside for the majority of people in the weyr. Now, as the sun begins to set, people have begun to move indoors...generally in the direction of food. Sho, on the other hand, has finished his chores for the day and made his way to the Galleries. He stops by every few days to stare and, besides, it's warm in here. And he forgot his jacket. The boy is leaning up against the raised edge at the bottom bleacher, his chin resting on his crossed arms as he stares out at the eggs quietly.

Jo apparently has finished her day's chores, too - or at least somehow gotten them done without her being involved - for here she is, arriving at the stands whistling a jaunty-sounding tune. She pauses when she finds the place occupied, eyes narrowing slightly until further movement forward turns that look to one of recognition. Eyes go to what she could see of the eggs, then Sho, then the eggs again before she makes up her mind and approaches. "I hear those eggs are corrupted," is her greeting, coming up from behind the young man as if to startle from whatever thoughts he might be having. Then she sidesteps and moves to settle right next to him, as if the two were best friends like she teases to be. "Haven' seen these til now," she admits then, keeping her dark eyes to the clutch on the sands rather than Sho now.

So deep in thought was he that the boy didn't hear the approach of the other Candidate, and her worlds do manage to startle him. Plus the context of her statement raises a bit of ire in the youth as he turns to pick a fight, then stops as he sees who it is and she's suddenly next to him anyways. Sho sighs and turns back to look out at the eggs again, not putting his head down this time. "They're gonna be fine. All the dragons know it. It's just tha humans that dun think so." Pause. "I'd believe the dragons more."

Sho turning to pick a fight seems to be the ending of a good day in Jolie's book. She passes a one second wide grin his way before she returns her gaze to the eggs. "How hopeful the youth of Pern tend to be," she says a bit sardonically for his words, eyes sliding over to regard him longer. "I dunno though. Weyrleader seemed pretty sure something was up with them to /me/. Who am I to say otherwise?" There's a light shrug from off one shoulder then she leans forward on her propped elbows. "Still. Can't exactly imagine /us/ on dragons, ya know?" Yep, she's including Sho in that in such a companionable tone. Which could be a problem. "I mean, ya with all the trouble following, and me with that---" she stops, blinking a few times before she shakes her head once and changes the subject. "Ran into that girl ya fancy lately?" she asks, letting her eyes linger thoughtfully over the clutch. "Gave her that dragon ya made yet?"

Sho glares at Jolie at her words and actually turns to try and reach and grab Jolie by the collar. Whether he succeeds or not, his eyes show some anger and he states flatly, "They are gonna be fine. Just 'cause that Weyrleader says something stupid doesn't mean he's right." He says, releasing her (if he ever had her) and turning back to look out at the sands. "We'll be on dragons, don'cha worry. And they'll be the best dragons ever ta be be hatched." He sounds very sure of himself at this statement, looking out at the sands...and ignoring the last question.

This was something new. Jolie's reflexes are quick, which might lead one to wonder about her dubious origins after all when she slaps a near-painful grip onto Sho's wrist when he grabs her by the collar. It's slow and steady, but she's tighten that grip for him to let go, the former stablehand not even batting an eyelid as she faces him more. "Ya got an issue? Take it up with him, kid," she states almost coolly now as she keeps his arm in her tight grip. "Ain' no reason to get yer shorts twisted! Or maybe yer still lookin' to fight?" She seems always down for that particular option, squeezing an already painful grip before she finally releases him and turns back towards the eggs. "'Sides," she continues on dryly now. "Yer dragon's going to be beside himself - or herself - if they gotta put up with yer temper all the time. They ain't like /me/, mind. I'll put up with ya because we're friends." And like a 'friend', Jo seems to pick up on topics best left alone and starts needling at them. Looking Sho in the face now, "Ya heard me? What up with that girl ya fancy? Don't tell me ya pissed her off already or something..."

Sho grits his teeth and grinds them a bit until she releases his arm and he rubs it now while he faces the eggs. "Well then don't bring up that part'a the eggs. I may not be able ta be a threat...but Taikrin doesn't take lightly ta the talk about something wrong with her eggs." He sighs, still holding his arm and watching the eggs. The mention of Silarra...well...he doesn't turn his attention away from the eggs as he replies. "Yeah, I gave it ta her. She was excited. We're kinda together now...although I did something ta make her mad and we've been to busy ta see each other again." And then the mention of fighting...well, Sho has been trying to get Taikrin to teach him how to. "Maybe we do need ta fight after all. Might help get out a little anger, hmm?" He asks, grinning now as he glances sideways Jolie.

Jolie straightens up from her lean in case Sho was ready to row, the woman lifting her chin slightly at him until he mentions Taikrin's name. "Taikrin doesn't?" She's asking this just a bit forcefully, her eyes taking the young man in with a long, hard look. "What else doesn't Taikrin take lightly, since ya know?" And then, he's talking about his girl and she lets some of the hardness ebb from her features at it. Lips pressing together for a moment, "Good for ya," she actually gives evenly with a brief incline of her head. "Ya should make the time to go and do right by her. Only fair." Funny how she could manhandle someone one moment and give good advice the next? Maybe she really is crazy. She must be since to his last, Jo is baring her teeth in a mirthless smile at him when he says it. "Bring it," she drawls to that with a slight taunt in her tone. "I'm always down to take out a little aggression, kid. Perhaps ya could run to that girl of yers afterwards when I kick yer ass and have things smooth over with her." Cuz she's /so/ helpful, after all.

Sho rolls his eyes at Jolie's words around running to Silarra and he just shakes his head. "No, I'm not gonna go ta Silarra fer nothin' except ta find out why she's mad at me again." Pause. "Besides, I dun think ya can really beat me." He says, rising an eyebrow at her and grinning. At the mention of Taikrin Sho just shrugs. "She doesn't like hearin' bad about her eggs, doesn't act nice when she's drunk always...can break a few bones if ya make her mad."

"Ya should try to be sweeter to girls," Jo's laying on the advice thick - as if she would know. "Can't be just...being /you/," and she gestures with a hand in Sho's direction. "Gotta be all gentle-like. I mean, we /all/ aren't into the gentle type, but...kinda seem like this one is, right?" Her chin drops at that to fix him with a pointed look. When he talks on beating her in a fight, Jolie actually laughs. It's low and rumbly, coming from deep within as she shakes her head and looks back towards the clutch. "Ya got spirit," she drawls low, letting laughter into her tone. "I'll give ya /that/ much, baby." She quiets on the talk of the brownrider, however, nodding once to what's given without looking at him. "Don't know many that act nice when drunk," she notes to him smirking a bit at the eggs. "But, interesting. What else do ya know about her?" Back with the questioning. Either the candidate /likes/ Taikrin, or she has some strange obsession with her.

Sho watches the eggs as Jolie talks, taking in her advice at this point, but no longer commenting on it. She's probably right, but he won't know until he and Silarra's schedules match well enough that he can actually catch her at her weyr. But then, again with the questioning. Sho considers, then cracks a grin and turns around, leaning back against the edge now. "How 'bout this. Everytime ya knock me down, I'll answer a question." He says, raising an eyebrow before pointing out of the galleries. "We can go ta the lake so ya don't get hurt. The sand is a lot softer then the rock here after all."

"How about ya just stop evadin' the question and just answer it?" Jolie puts forth with little mirth, though the former stablehand remains leaning casually now as she watches the other candidate. "Ya'll are friends, right? I don't need to knock ya down to get an answer." There's arrogance here, the woman looking pointedly away as she considers the eggs on the sands. "But if ya wanna fight, we can do that tomorrow," she decides to say, putting a bit of wryness in her tone. Why not now? The woman's just not elaborating either yet or ever.

The boy shakes his head at Jolie and turns back to face the eggs again, leaning with his elbows down on the rail. "Yeah, we're friends, though it's kinda an interestin' road that got us there." He doesn't elaborate at this point, but just keeps a wry little grin on his face. "I've been tryin' ta learn some fightin', anyway I can, so that I can defend myself and not get any broken body parts anymore." He admits, then almost as an experiment one hand snakes out to try and poke Jolie in the side...just to see if he can.

"Defend yerself from who?" Jo just couldn't help but to ask, her gaze lingering on him now. "Crazy girls?" Perhaps she had heard about the conversation in the barracks the other day when she walked out, or, one of the candidates listening had told her. Or it's just coincidence that this is her choice of words for the night. She sniffs once at Sho's answer on Taikrin, eyes back on the clutch before she slowly gives into a nod. "I bet," she answers shortly on that, and one might be able to detect a note of dryness here on it. Then Sho pokes her in the side. It connects, though the woman's eyes move just a fraction towards him. What he pokes is hard, like the woman clearly works out or has some kind of strength to her that is hidden by clothes. After a long pause, she then in turn shoots out a hand and tries to poke /him/ - hard - in the stomach.

Sho's silent a moment as Jolie uses those oddly specific words and he slowly looks her over, wondering if he'll survive the rest of the day. "From anyone." He says finally, a hint of insecurity in his voice. When his finger connects he actually raises an eyebrow in surprise, but it doesn't last long as he's unexpectedly poked back. Honestly, he'd expected to either get away clean, or get known on his ass. As it is, it's close as the poke makes him jump away slightly, rubbing his stomach and frowning. "Hey now, not so hard." He mutters. So is all lean muscle, so the poke jabs into the actual hard muscle and stops...but that just makes it hurt more. "Crazy girl."

"Need to train with her harder, then," Jolie notes, detecting that insecure note in Sho's voice once she pokes him back. She looks like she wants to do it again, but she merely smiles sweetly at him and steps back. "The craziest," is her quip to his name-calling at the last, tossing a wink over at him before she starts to head towards the entrance. "Gotta run, kid," she drawls, looking at him over her shoulder. "Got something I need to take care of before I turn in. Don't do something I would do while I'm gone." Or don't do. Whatever the case.
