| Mid-afternoon on day 26 of month 1, nine of Elaruth and Bijedth's clutch of ten eggs hatched and each dragonet found their partner with relatively few mishaps and little bloodshed. The smallest egg of the clutch, which many had assumed would not hatch, kept Candidates and spectators waiting a while, its occasional shivers taken for signs of life, though it eventually stilled and it has been assumed that the poor dragonet perished in the shell. As is expected in such an event, the Weyrleader and Bijedth shortly took the unhatched egg Between. |
