History
Born at Greenfield at the very end of the Pass, Ienavi is the oldest daughter and third oldest child of Lord and Lady Greenfield. Her father, Graeson, is the second cousin, once removed of Lady Edeline of Tillek, while her mother, Linuore is of Greenfield's main line.
The young couple had such hopes for their first daughter, both father and mother recognizing that while a male would be an heir, daughters made far more useful pawns in the redistribution of power in Nabol's territories. So already precocious Ienavi was groomed from the start for greatness.
Unlike many young girls of her birth and rank, her parents declined birth invitations for betrothals, until she turned seven, whereupon Greensfield and Tillek were to be joined in the marriage of Ienavi and the Lord's adopted step-son, Nederan. Unfortunately, like many matches made so early, this was not to be when, at Ienavi's tender age of twelve, Nederan found a better mate in Drilnity, Lord Nabol's cousin. What was once a long list of suitors had since dwindled, as anyone who was worth anything had already been promised.
So, for the next turn, Ienavi was fostered to High Reaches Hold under the care of Lord Rynien and Lady Shaie, then entered Ista's secondary Harper Hall to cultivate her harp skills and finish off the loose ends of her education. It was shortly after her fifteenth birthday that she returned to Greenfield to reclaim her place as first born amongst a bevy of girls and chum up with her favorite sibling -- the second oldest of Greenfield's children, her beloved brother and heir. The first born son is not talked of.
In her absence, her ever-ambitious parents had brokered the perfect match for their perfect daughter, and the next half turn was spent preparing for such an auspicious match between Rone, Lord Nabol's grandson and Ienavi, of Tillekian and Greenfield blood.
Or, that's how it was supposed to be. The best laid plans can, sometimes, get better, and shortly after arriving at Nabol to further prepare for her marriage as lady Kisare's lady in waiting and shadow, a healthy Lady Frieja suddenly passed away and in between the hubbub, Ienavi caught the old man's eye.
Sure he's old.
Sure it's kind of skivvy.
But now she outranks everyone, including her once betrotheds.
