Iceberg Wing

Dynamics

Iceberg is one of three wings that make up the Upper Flight in Fall.

A relatively 'heavy' wing in terms of dragon colour with more browns and bronzes than one would normally have flying in one wing. However, this serves to produce a fighting force that, while not as agile in the skies, is certainly one that has unrivaled endurance and stamina. Iceberg comprises the stalwarts of the Weyr that can always be counted on to be the steady, calming presence in the skies from beginning to end of Fall. Its downfall is fewer blues and greens, which leaves it up to the other wings to provide the acrobatic coverage that they at times lack.

Recent History

In turn 30, Wingleader B'sil stepped down, soon after completing nine months as Acting Weyrleader. His Wingsecond, D'nis, stepped up temporarily, and then more permanently, after being formally granted the position by Acting Weyrleader H'kon. In Turn 31, Acting Weyrleader Taikrin fired D'nis, and had him replaced by long-time wingrider, brownrider Fayla, with Glacier bronzerider K'tan as her Wingsecond.

The wing was not well pleased. They were, perhaps, even less well pleased when, in turn 32, new Weyrleader Z'ian replaced K'tan with H'vier and sent him back to Glacier. Another outsider? Another Wingsecond appointed for them?

Fayla and H'vier developed a decent working relationship. The wing settled into an easy routine until, in turn 34, Fayla became pregnant with H'vier's child. As her pregnancy progressed, it fell on H'vier to take over her responsibilities as Wingleader. By the time she gave birth in turn 35, H'vier had quietly undermined most of her support in the wing. Within a couple of months, Weyrleader K'del officially, if reluctantly, knotted H'vier as Wingleader on the condition that he offer Fayla a position as Wingsecond or let her hand pick another woman. Fayla accepted on Day 21, Month 13, Turn 35, but their relationship has been strained, to say the least. H'vier also pulled an outside, G'laer, formerly a wingrider with Alpine to the role of wingsecond alongside Fayla. G'laer didn't last long, transferring to Equinox after H'vier's Reisoth flew his Teisyth a second time on day 22, month 11, turn 36.
