Born at Fort Weyr and raised mostly at Ista Weyr, Palia is the eldest daughter of P'draig (brown Jekzith's) and Illya (green Azath's). Abandoned by her mother as an infant, she grew up well-loved by her father, his family and her foster-mother Miara. In spite of a fairly stable childhood full of love and affection and gentle discipline, Palia has always suffered from a sense of abandonment because of her mother's behavior and the successive losses of other parent figures in her life. Description
Gray-eyed and brown-haired, this young woman stands at about average height, maybe a titch under. Prone to frizz, wild curls make a halo around her head and straggle down to her shoulders when they're not bound back in a haphazard tail or a tight braid. A sharp chin breaks the unrelieved roundness of her face, the adjective 'cute' possibly applicable to the deep dimples that show up when she smiles. Fashion doesn't seem to pre-occupy her much: her clothing could best be described as functional and practical, though every now and then, she might be caught with a ribbon tied in her hair.

She apprenticed as a Harper in Turn 28, at the age of 14 and has been studying at the main Harper Hall ever since, primarily focusing on Archives and History as her specialties for the last few turns. She is competent on most of the basic instruments harpers are required to play, with a special affinity for the violin. Otherwise the musical aspects of being a harper are not her true forte: her vocal abilities are passable but nothing to write home about and she has no special talent at musical composition. Rather, it's lyrics where her true talent lies and she has a knack for capturing things incisively and with sharp wit.
She's just been posted under the reigning Harper at Fort Weyr as a test to see if she can handle a higher level of duties, a precursor to possibly walking the tables. Her promotion hangs in the balance based on how this posting turns out.
