Rainbow Lattice Egg

Coated with an array of mismatching colours, this shell looks as if it has been attacked by some kind of deadly rainbow. Vivid primary colours coat its surface, thin, perfectly straight lines scattered every which way in a never-ending angular web, one always touching or overlapping the next. It's almost impossible to track the journey of one specific trail of colour and discover where it begins and ends for sure. Small and rather round, sadly stripes do nothing for this egg and might even make it a little difficult on the eyes.

Flakes of color fall to the sands from the Rainbow Lattice egg, bright child's toys abandoned on the ground as the whole stack of sticks comes tumbling down. Leaving a spectrum of litter behind him, a solidly built blue dragonet goes careening forth, wings half-stretched to explore the world.

Make Me A Match Blue

He leads with his chin, a dynamic tension threading his sleek, solid frame even when ostensibly standing still, his hide an effortless blue that will show every scar. It's as yet unmarred by so much as a pattern, though, no freckles, no patches: the gem-like clarity of summer sunlight, refracted through unbroken glass. That refraction does lend shifts of shade, but subtly so: hints of color along his neckridges when seen out of the corner of an eye, shadows lurking beneath his wingsails, a glossy grace note to the tail that always seems to want to curl. For a dragon so large and densely built, he's balanced both in physique and in motion, a vibrance that carries through to the eager lift of his head and the light in wide-set, gleaming eyes.

Temperament

Do you ever just do things because they feel good, Cori? Even if you never used to, it may become hard to avoid with Zaxameth at your side. Fast-talking, exuberant, energetic, full of the dickens and a wide-ranging fascination with the world... your Zaxameth is a well-meaning "boy's boy" of a dragon with you as his first and best girl. He's the ultimate hedonist, a lover of all things physical- and as the type who likes to share the sensations of all he finds, even if /you/ don't get down and dirty in the mud with him, you're almost certainly going to get a pretty good idea of what it feels like. Of course, he'd rather you joined him for it: everything feels /better/ when you're involved, and not just because you made him a winner in the game of love before it ever really got started.

As a weyrling, Zaxameth's appetite for life is no less insatiable. It's not that he's /exactly/ the boundless ball of energy his sire was, though there are elements of that; it's more than there's just so much to /experience/ in life, and he wants to do it all /now/. What Zaxameth wants is what Zaxameth intends to get, and curbing his excesses is something you're going to have to get quite used to. Patience is not a trait he has been heavily blessed with- the only time he's really slow with anything is when it feels just /so/ good that you can't possibly intend for him to stop. He can be a dawdler then, inclined to get lost in the sight of a rainbow (or an oiling), or in the perfect shadow created when the sun is /exactly/ in the right position (or an oiling), or the meaty, juicy flavor of marrow when he's ready to crunch bone. Or an oiling. If nothing else, though, the beauty he finds in the world is something you may learn to share- and what a world it is, when you see it his way!

Physical pleasures are a large part of Zaxameth's game, and something he's good at given how balanced he is for his stature, unlike some of his more ungainly siblings. However, there's also the social game at play, even if he isn't as good at it at first, and he'll be quick to get to know his clutchmates and eager to socialise with them. In fact, Zaxameth will go out of his way to make sure those around him are having a good a time as he is, because that's what matchmakers are all about. If he can bring Kynith into the group, or encourage Balyeroth with those big dreams? Perfect. Though not excitable as such, he'll be open with his encouragement of others, cheering them on in their successes, and providing comfort in their failures. Of course, early on he may take things too literally, or else push too far when he should step back and let things be. « Just try one more time! Really, Pterath, I know you'll get it this time! Aww, no? C'mon. Keep at it! Wait... where are you going?! ». He also fails to notice, sometimes, that not everyone appreciates his visceral humor and quippy one-liners. You'll be able to help him better recognize social cues and when others just need their space.

For himself, Zaxameth is interested in flying more as a way to get places than as an art, though he does enjoy the sensation of wind beneath his wings. Drills and sweeps? Well- there are few things that he outright dislikes, but these are definitely towards the lower end of his scale of interest. They're dull, especially when there are more interesting things to do and see and discover. You'd better hope that you're eventually put in a wing with relatively 'light' duties, else things could get difficult... it wasn't Zaxameth's fault that there was that delicious mud patch /right/ near that hold you were supposed to be flying over. Really!

Zaxameth-as-matchmaker is driven, always, to pair up the people he cares about and, through this, make them happy. It doesn't even have to do with romance. Is Kynith particular about her straps? He can try to talk Teivoth into letting her have the leather that really suits her hide... or talk /Kynith/ into trying out something else he thinks might be better yet. Though he isn't enamored of Iskiveth the way Balyeroth is, if she wants fire, maybe he can make that happen! Does Teivoth need an audience? Maybe he can set the other blue up with someone who likes listening more than Zaxameth himself has the patience for. Such as a large rock. Still, romance is fun too. After all, who /wouldn't/ want to get that sparkling, heart-pumping, heady rush that love brings? You're one of his primary targets, Cori, but as long as you're enjoying yourself, he won't push too much... still, it's better if you're out with people, enjoying life. « Cori! » he might say, because he always calls you /Cori/, « Go get that little red dress of yours and we'll go find a Gather somewhere. » He likes Gathers: all those pretty people, the lights, the /enthusiasm/ of it all. His interest in those around him is also likely to make him a good Search dragon, because finding the /very/ best candidates for those eggs is just another part of matchmaking, after all.

Zaxameth's leap-before-you-look enthusiasm may turn into a different-but-related gung-ho confidence and sincerity as he matures. Is it even remotely surprising (to anyone!) that Zaxameth will enjoy chasing greens? It's not even that he has to win- though that is, without question, a big part of it- so much as it /feels/ good, chasing. Friendly with female dragons even from birth, he may well be one of the first in his clutch to chase; he'll certainly be one of the first to start thinking of females as creatures /to/ be chased. Greens are creatures to be cosseted and charmed- and he is /full/ of charm. He'll be increasingly perceptive regarding what they want, too: if Liniath would rather fly than cuddle, then fly he will; if Pterath is after the wild side in her companions, Zaxameth is right there with her. With his size and build, he's got a little more stamina even if he has a little less agility, and more importantly, he has the willpower. In the immediate aftermath of a flight lost, he's so blue, so disappointed, for at least a couple hours before he gets some energy back. Should he win, it will be an Event for Zaxameth: all but glowing for days, bright and brilliant, lost in the sheer /awesomeness/ of his lady love. If she encourages his attentions, he might even overlook someone else going proddy for a while in favor of keeping her company. But the end, there'll never be just one green for him, because he's got only one one-and-only, and that's you.

In the end, Zaxameth is a creature of positive energy and the /rightness/ of matches, far more than of passions in general. He's disinclined towards anger, and will avoid conflict where he can, a little like Akuath. Unlike his brother, though, Zaxameth is an active seeker and a doer, always with a prize in mind. But you're his best prize, Cori, the one he loves above all. He'll push you out of your comfort zone, tease you, excite you, delight you. But if you're happy, he's happy... and doesn't that make life grand?

Public Impression Message

Bounding forward eagerly, the Make Me A Match Blue Hatchling seems to have gotten wind of what he really wants, and speeds onward as unerringly as an arrow shot from Cupid's bow. A tanned young woman with ash blonde curls is the one he seems to be after; he careens up to her eagerly, head tipped back to meet her gaze with the adoration of any newly-made couple. His triumphant croon of delight confirms: she's the one that he wants!

Private Impression Message

A single, plucked note resonates within your head as the solid blue hatchling comes to a halt before you. Giddy excitement begins to fill you, a kaleidoscope of colors flashing before your eyes along with the crash of cymbals, the sensation of sun on skin (so warm) and wind in your hair (so fresh). « Heeeeey, Cori, » he says, staring deep into your eyes. « It's /you/! » His excitement - no, /exultation/ - at having found you sends a quiver through you both, and you know without even needing to be told that this is Zaxameth, and he is /yours/. « I want to see everything, Cori. Come on! Though... is there somewhere we can get some eats around here, first? »

Mindvoice

Zaxameth's voice is a low, personable baritone in the back of your mind, not rough-hewn but smooth. Whether he's conveying words, images, scents, textures or sounds to you, they tend to be vivid (and sometimes get musical emphasis, whether cymbals or plucked harp strings): colors are bright, shapes clearly delineated, scents pungent, textures as tactile as though you were touching them yourself. In his youth or moments of particular excitement, this could be overwhelming until he learns to temper his sendings. His emotions are just as keen and you may find it harder than some to achieve separation between the two of you, carried along for the ride... or just more focused on his trenchant commentary on what's going on across the bowl, than the weyrlingmaster standing just behind.

Itchyspots

Right across that big broad back where wingmuscles meet, his hide will tend to be itchiest and flake the most often. And the thing is, /Zaxameth/ may not much notice, being more interested in other things... but remember those tactile mental projections of his? You're the one who gets to feel it as though it were your own, so if you wind up awkwardly attempting to scratch between your own shoulderblades, try looking toward him instead. ;)

Dragon Inspiration

You asked for a hedonistic blue to help Cori release her inner wild child, and we gave you his determination, too. The 'game of love' is at the heart of your Zaxameth's inspiration, with help along the way from the TV show "Cupid" in which Jeremy Piven's lusty, hedonistic Cupid loses his powers and is sent down to Earth with a challenge to bring together 100 couples before he can return to Mount Olympus ... without any of his godly powers. Zaxameth bears some charateristics of the show's main character as well as traits drawn from Greek mythology and specific quirks that we felt would create a strong bond with Cori. His description is based off of the clear azure and indigo tones in the color spectrum when light is refracted through a prism, inspired by the prismatic color treatment of 'Cupid's opening sequence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm-6YwKic64 (1:52) As for 'Zaxameth', we went with letters you said you liked, for one of the flowing but longer names to suit one of the larger blues.
