WYSK
F'reln is a stocky, short young man with nondescript brown hair and eyes. He's neither especially attractive nor outright unpresentable: he'd probably blend right into the scenery without his booming voice and outspoken opinions on the world. Rhabarith is small for a brown, and darkly-hued.
The latest in a long family line of guards and convict support staff, Fandareln never expected much more from his own life. He joined the guards as soon as he was considered to be old - and big - enough, and spent a number of turns in the service with no qualms whatsoever over his own methods, or those of the guards around him: convicts deserved everything they got. He was still in his early twenties when the High Reaches Weyr project eventuated, and was chosen to accompany the convict workers both as a development opportunity and because he was considered sturdy and stable enough to avoid temptation even in a weyr of all places.
He attended the hatching mostly as a curiosity, and perhaps partly because he didn't know whether the convicts on the sands could be trusted. The very last thing he expected was for one of the hatchlings to scale the stands to get to him: that doesn't mean he wasn't overjoyed to find his Rhabarith. The brown hatched from the What It Takes To Win Egg in Iovniath's second clutch, and though not quite as traditionalist as his rider, has done little to dissuade F'reln from his opinion that - even now that they've Impressed - the former-convict weyrlings can't be trusted, and need watching. Despite an injury at hatching, Rhabarith healed well.
