Built solid, Giorda reaches average height for a woman. Dishwater blond hair and muddy green eyes do little to relieve the plainness of her features.

Giorda a flight-born child, her mother is a brownrider and her father a greenrider. Neither of her parents were particularly interested in each other or in the offspring they produced together. Giana fostered Giorda as soon as possible, when the baby was only 3 months old. R'dan - Riordan - poked his head in now and then, baffled and bemused by the idea of having a child and occasionally remembered to get the girl a turnday gift. Otherwise both riders were absorbed with their duties and happy to leave Giorda to the care of her fosterer. She grew up in typical Weyrbrat mode, used to the chore rotation and showed a knack for organization starting just before her teens. She was brought on to assist Sirana when she was fifteen, was something of a right-hand woman to Hayda during her tenure as headwoman and is known to be accepting of the much younger Milani as Hayda's replacement, though she felt she should have been considered more seriously for the position herself. One of the reasons why she might have been passed over, is how easily Giorda can be swayed by others' opinions and flattery. She's not pretty and she relishes positive attention and will eagerly do favors for those who pay her attention and lavish her with believable compliments.

She was nonetheless hired on as Headwoman after Milani stepped down - first temporarily, and then more permanently. Iolene fired her during her tenure as Weyrwoman, but she was ultimately hired back and retained her position until she 'retired' in Turn 37... which may or may not have been a forced retirement under Irianke's hand.
