Description
Creamy skin is fitting contrast to brassy-bright hair, a mane of red spiraling in loose curls to just below slender shoulders dusted lightly with tawny freckles. Blue-green eyes offer a cooling comparison, set slightly wide over arching cheekbones, a pert nose, and a mouth composed with generously-quirked lower lip. Ainslee stands shorter than the average Pernese woman, with a figure that trends to hourglass: curve of hip and bosom mark her as forever undeniably feminine, while lean muscle and a surprisingly long expanse of trim torso show the fruit of hard labor that a life of dragonriding brings.
WYSK
Ainslee of green Kalaith: recently arrived at High Reaches, by-way of transfer from all-too-willing Benden.
Her history prior to Benden is murky, though rumors often involves both Crom and Bitra - her accent is Bitran, isn't it?
Things that /are/ known is her previous Benden status as a full dragonhealer, and her background prior to Impression with the Healercraft proper; she's often found in the infirmary and dragon infirmary.
Rumor also has it that she's, er, kind of easy (on the eyes, of course).
History
Ainslee is originally from Crom, the daughter of a miner who grew up and predictably fell in with a rough crowd at an early age (there are other kinds, at Crom?). Her mother sent her to live with her aunt at the main hall at Greystones; instead of the minercraft, however, Ainslee took the first chance to apprentice with the Healercraft and move to the first available posting. This landed her in Bitra, an area left for the most junior (or possibly undesirable) healers, where she lived from the age of fourteen to nineteen.
Naturally vivacious and outgoing, coming to age in Bitra would mark Ainslee for the remainder of her life, in ways obvious and opaque alike - but didn't mark her quite so much as being scooped up by a brownrider hurrying to get out of Bitra in a hurry (something about a bad bet?). Searching Ainslee turned out to not be such a bad bet: the senior apprentice stumbled into Benden, spent a day before the eggs hatched, and found the utterly immovable Kalaith as her lifemate. (Needless to say, the adjustment to the life of a weyrling... was an interesting one.)
Militant Kalaith refused to allow Ainslee to sleep her way through life, and after turns of continuing education made dragonhealer at the age of twenty-six. The latter twenties found Ainslee precariously close to settling down, but that was avoided after a minor personal heartbreak. Unfortunately, that heartbreak ended up being her wingleader not long after, and after a succession of uncomfortable turns spent with a petty-minded man controlling her destiny with progressively poor reports on her performance, Ainslee begged a transfer to distant High Reaches on the suggestion of a healer recently arrived from a posting at High Reaches.
So now she finds herself at High Reaches... for better or for worse.
Relationships
Azaylia*: The gift basket was a nice touch, but rumors and niceties only go so far. Does she really bring more to the table than Brieli? If only Hraedhyth hadn't rose in the weyr, this would be... easier to bandy away. I'm still a traditionalist in some ways, unfortunately. I need to meet her, face-to-face, if only to ease my own troubled thoughts.
Brieli: I can't help but like her. She reminds me of myself - or what I would have been if my path was a different one. She'll have so much to struggle against in the near future: it's so hard to think about advocating for the other side. But the rumors are... troubling.
Ceawlin: Amusing to tease. Cute kid. Someday I'll even tell him my name. Maybe.
H'kon: If this is the example of the best that High Reaches has to offer... we're all screwed. Hard to lead, with so many doubts against you. Always wary of the quiet ones: does he doubt himself? Screwed.
H'vier: He seems to make waves wherever he goes. Maybe it's because he's from Ista. Or maybe it's just because he's so fardling tall... and a lout. I should be wary of him: he's the dangerous one. For me.
Jo: One of those. It's always fun to see them break, but I have a feeling it won't be from me.
K'del: He doesn't seem as wretched as most bronzeriders I've had the misfortune of knowing... we'll see how the aftermath falls out.
Kh'mic: Didn't give H'kon much respect, but he was damned funny.
Leova: I want to call her a kindred soul. I think working under stressful conditions does that, though, doesn't it? Good, clear head on her shoulders. She makes me look to the future. Maybe there is a future for me, here, if there are more of her type: the rare rock amongst sand.
Taikrin*: You better not fuck this up for women everywhere.
Vienne: So foreign in some ways, and so familiar in others. It may just be that we are in such similar situations, but... I hope to truly call her a friend, someday.
