| On the 27th day of Month 8, word begins to spread around the Weyr: Tiriana has taken her revenge. Of course, few people are surprised that she would - she is not exactly the kind of woman to take /her/ Weyrleader chasing (and catching!) another queen with equinimity, but even so. It doesn't take much to piece together that Tiriana demanded K'del's resignation (those with more information might know that she called it a turnday gift to herself) - and that he refused. Exactly what happened after that is less sure, but there's no denying that the Weyrleader (who still claims to hold that title) will be in the Infirmary for at least a few days, and that his broken arm will take rather longer to heal. And where does it leave the Weyr? Tradition says that the Weyrleader is decided by the flight of the senior queen-- but tradition is clearly not changing Tiriana's mind on the subject. One can only hope, it seems, that Iovniath will rise soon, and settle the question more formally. |
