Blume is a lifelong resident of Fort Weyr. After serving in a variety of positions (and standing for a few clutches), including a supervisor in the Stores, she was selected to become an assistant headwoman at 28. She served as an extremely competent assistant headwoman for 36 turns before retiring at the age of 63 (reportedly, to spend more time with her grandchildren).
She has several children and more grandchildren in Fort Weyr, some riders, some residents or crafters and some now living elsewhere. Her husband, Hauster, died in an accident some twenty turns back and she never remarried.
In personality, Blume is a good teacher with a dry sense of humor and a great deal of patience (but little for those out to waste her time). She has enough experience in the Weyr to know nearly all the ins, outs, and how to get things done.
Blume has been a paragon of competence in the lower caverns for as long as anyone can remember. With Erinta's death, Blume was asked by one of the less experienced assistants to step in for the time being.
