The scales of this dragon are a rich, vivid green, but here and there a streak of darker forest green traces along her flank or wings, and a portion of her head and neck are a green so pale as to seem faded. The effect in sunlight is breathtaking, making her seem almost a gemstone carving of a dragon rather than a living beast. Unfortunately, her proportions are somewhat less beautiful at present; she has a gawkiness to her which almost suggests a clumsiness, as if she hasn't quite grown into her own limbs yet.

Broken Mirror Egg
Whites vie with light peaches, yellows, and purples over this beautifully smooth shell, suggestive of iridescence that might as well shimmer in an on-looker's reflection. The smoothness continues around the large egg until it is suddenly grotesquely interrupted on one side by a spider-webbing of thick and thin blackened lines. The egg itself may even be a hint lopsided, with the tiny shard-like shapes progressing to larger uneven ones that makes the shell appear as if it's already been fractured, splintered into a thousand tiny pieces. Dark lines follow jagged paths from the shell's dented side until they eventually dissolve into the marred perfection of the rest of it.
The Broken Mirror egg rocks once again, and then the iridescent shell cracks and a small green head emerges to peer about curiously. Twisting about, the impulsive little hatchling manages to tip the egg over and ends up on her back for a moment, then twists around until the egg rolls enough to bring her mostly upright. Squirming out the rest of the way, she shakes fragments of shell off herself, then begins to explore the sands.

Temperament
Nasmaeth is a dragon who'll never quite fit in. Not in the sense of being an outcast, but simply inasmuch as she does not see the world in the same manner as most others; in that sense, if you can come to grasp her motivations, you may well be the only person who truly understands her. Her actions are often impulsive and her motives aren't always entirely clear to each others -- perhaps not even to herself -- and when stymied, her mood can turn mercurial. At worst, her temper can boil over. If faced with the reality that no-one can sympathise or even attempt to relate to your dear new life partner, you may find yourself acting out in the same manner that she does, perhaps even beyond your control. She didn't mean to. You didn't mean to. These protests, and others, defensive, or hurt, or confused, may come to define your early months together. Still, even if none understand you, you have each other... and the potential for your bond to grow too close, too quickly.
As a weyrling, her gawky build combined with her impulsive and curious nature will lead her to more than a few mishaps. Some of might result in minor injury, some in hard feelings with other weyrling dragons, but some might lead her into genuine trouble. She genuinely seems to lack whatever part of her personality should tell her not to cross certain lines; if whatever's on the opposite side of that line seems interesting, she's likely to cross it. Whether you seek to stop her or you encourage these misadventures could be a matter of who you are trying to win favour with. Are you going to attempt to be a good, if indulgent, partner to her? Or are you going to try and be a good weyrling and rider, and make efforts to correct her, even if it means her taking against you at times?
As she gets older and grows out of the gangling, gawky weyrling phase, the risk of physical injury is somewhat mitigated. Other challenges will arise, however: notably, she sees little use for traditional rank structure. Why should only a wingleader get to make choices, if anyone can have a good idea? If you learn to rein her impulsive nature in, her curiosity and inability to take anyone else's word for anything might become a great asset to you both, and to whatever wing you join. If, however, you allow her impulsiveness to influence you instead, you may be in for a wild ride, and far from your wingleader's favorite.
When she flies, however, her focus on the task will be total. At first, it will be more a chance to get away from her gawkiness on the ground. When she takes wing, any and all clumsiness will be left behind; in the air, she is the picture of grace and agility. As time goes on, it will become a venue to challenge herself in; can she choose a target and hit it oh-so-precisely? Can she surprise another, older, dragon without being spotted? And when she rises, it will be an adventure; who will she end up with this time? She will not be one to seek the same partners repeatedly, as she values variety and new experiences.
If you try to fight her impulsive nature too firmly as she grows, you may find she fights back and seeks to have adventures on her own. But if you give in too easily, you may find that she grows to believe she's the one who is in charge in your pairing. But if you find that balance, she will be your partner in truth: a partner in crime, a partner in adventure, and a partner in life.
Public Impression Message
A Misfit's Perspective Green finally finds her feet once again, extricating herself from the remains of the egg she tripped over. As she shakes the bits of shell off, she seems to notice the Candidates, and hurries over to examine them with just as much curiosity as the shards of shell. One after another is rejected as she makes her way down the line, and then she abruptly settles down at one boy, gazing up expectantly at him.
Private Impression Message
Nothing you have been told about Impression can properly prepare you for the sensation of suddenly being two, of sharing your mind with another. The moment when suddenly, you're half of a whole. Any trace of nervousness is soothed away, at least for a moment, by the sense of comfort and reassurance that you feel in your mind, as if you had been wrapped in a comfortable blanket on a cold night. Yet when the words come from your Nasmaeth to greet you, there's a hint of mischievous curiosity behind the calm tones, a momentary flood of desire to just leave the sands and see what else the world might hold. « Iiiidro. » The little green tries your name once, gets it wrong, and seems to sense it, for she tries again. « I'dro! »
Mindvoice
In a surprising contrast to her impulsive personality, Nasmaeth's mindvoice is usually one of comfort, a calming oasis in a world that doesn't always make sense. How this presents may vary depending on the circumstances and your mood; perhaps the sensation of a warm spot to nap in, a comforting blanket on a cold night, a cool breeze on a warm one, or the scent of pastries freshly out of the ovens in the kitchens.
Suggested Adult Description
The scales of this dragon are a rich, vivid green, but here and there a streak of darker forest green traces along her flank or wings, and a portion of her head and neck are a green so pale as to seem faded. The effect in sunlight is breathtaking, making her seem almost a gemstone carving of a dragon rather than a living beast. But if her hide is magnificent, her features are just a bit wrong to be truly beautiful; her eye ridges are a little pronounced, her snout a little large, the proportions just slightly off from what many would consider elegant. In the end, the best word for her would be "striking".
Name Meaning
Nasmaeth takes as a root name 'Nasmah', a feminine Arabic name meaning 'breeze'. Nasmaeth's mood can shift as easily as a fall breeze, and so it seemed an appropriate naming choice.
Inspiration
Nasmaeth's inspirations are a collection of misfits; none of them ever quite fit in, none of them ever quite sees the world in the same way as others, and so this is the core of her personality. From Charlotte Charles on Pushing Daisies, she gets a cheerful sense of curiosity, and the meddling inability not to look at a situation and think how it might be 'improved'. Her impulsive nature and mercurial moods come from Kate Bishop, as does her tendency to challenge herself in the air. The resultant mishaps of all those impulsive choices are taken straight from Kate's accident-prone mentor, the poster child for poor life choices, Clint Barton. Interestingly, the contrasting mindvoice also comes from these same inspirations; things such as the scent of fresh-baked pies at the Pie Hole from Pushing Daisies, or the oddly soothing tones of Cecil on Night Vale's community radio station.
Egg Inspiration: Inspired by the superstition of seven years of bad luck to follow smashing a mirror.
