Leadership
The Weyrleader oversees all wings, handles the assignments and promotions of riders, coordinates drills, sweeps and, during Threadfall, decides which wings will fight. He receives regular reports from the wings and functions in a political capacity as the head of the Weyr alongside the Weyrwoman. His "Weyrsecond" is the wingsecond of his wing, and as his second in command, often acts as his foremost advisor and assistant. The Weyrleader's wingsecond often takes over regular drilling of the wing, when the Weyrleader is otherwise engaged. All wingleaders report to the Weyrleader and his 'second.
The Senior Weyrwoman is basically responsible for everything else, overseeing the state of the caverns, the living conditions of all members of the Weyr, the state and use of supplies and the general morale of the Weyr as a whole. She is aided by her juniors and the Headwoman and her staff. All non-riders report to the Senior Weyrwoman either directly or through the lower caverns staff.
