FTW Clutch 15/Eggs

Egg 1 : Between Egg

Black. Blacker. Blackest. The color of complete darkness, of night without moon or stars. Darker even than that, for no light seems to reflect from it's surface. Not a glint or a hint of any other color but pitch black. It seems to absorb the light giving nothing back. There is no deviation in this across the shell. Just the utter and complete absence of any color.

Egg 2 : Precious Dagger Egg

Rather long and extended, this egg sparkles with various shades of green, contrasting with the blue of the sky. Glossy as an emerald droplet could be, it proudly stands in its basket of sand. From the darkest green at the bottom to the brightest at the top, it seems to glow with some kind of intimate sun hidden beneath the silk surface. A sun ready to be stolen...

Egg 3 : Whoops! Egg

This eggs is asymmetrical, definitely wider at its base than at its top, and looks similar to a large pile of chewed firestone that had been regurgitated from a dragon who had just been learning to chew. The texture is knobby, the color off-white, with darker shadows that make it appear to be more gobular than it actually is.

Egg 4 : Seductive Red Dress Egg

It would be next to impossible to miss this egg, for all its firery brightness. A burning scarlet that coalesces with other feverish hues, it absolutely blazes on the sands, radiating its passionate beauty for all to see. No matter how you look at it, it appears to be a ball of fabric, for deep reds form "folds" along its sides and the light creates pinkish highlights across the top. The mottled surface gives it a velvety appearance, and it almost seems to be coaxing all within its vicinity to caress it. Despite this appearance, the egg is all curves and perfectly proportionate; there is nothing physically wrong with this little beauty in the slightest. Poor thing...it's all dressed up, and no place to go!

Egg 5 : Half Circle Egg

Draped around this sphere is a warped perspective of something that is perhaps familiar. Familiar perhaps if you had wings and could fly high above it. Rocky gray juts out into frothy dark blue and green circling outwards to form a bay amidst the oceanic colors. It almost circles itself completely and cuts off the blue, but for the gray being cut in half. Instead of embracing the sea it's arms are open to it and yet shielding that which is hidden inside.

Egg 6 : Morning Drumheights Egg

The upper half this egg has the hue of the morning sky: Pale blue shot with streaks of citron orange and fiery red. The lower half looks like a forest of thick trees of the Keroon plain in the early spring, crosshatched lines of green like the needles of the sky-broom tree. Off center stands a tower of eggwhite stone upon which one can imagine a lone Harper pounding the message drums of the Keroon Drumheight. Perhaps if one pressed their ear to the egg they very well might hear the gentle thumping of a drum.

Egg 7 : Quarter Mark Egg

A deep brown egg with darker lines that ring around it. There is a dullness to this egg. It does not shine but sits nestled within the sands like a well used mark. Where it seems worn, a lighter porridge brown peeks out.

Egg 8 : Unlikely Hero Egg

Curled up into a pitiful little ball in a dark corner is this dull, gray egg. It is large, but awkwardly so, and that in itself is the only trait about it that can really catch the eye. It is so blandly simple that it looks like stone, and can be easily overlooked for all its simplicity. But perhaps on closer inspection one would find that, intricately etched into these cold hues, is the ugly, bulky form of a watch-wher. Its broad triangular head with obnoxiously wrinkled snout and overly-faceted eyes is bowed, almost ashamedly, because it knows it is inferior to other living things. It leans heavily on its two-toed foreclaws, its powerful but jaunty hind legs jutting out sharply from behind it. Its wings hang over its head as it sits there and sulks, pleading with wide eyes for even a single caress or a scratch on the ears.

Egg 9 : Kettle Drum Egg

Russet merging into a loud coppery bronze, shouts out from this large egg. Swirling designs that almost seem like musical notes dot the surface in a raised black script design. It is more round than oval and smooth like the skin stretched across a drum.

Egg 10 : Orchards in Bloom Egg

A petite egg, it makes its presence known with vibrant greens dappled as if the sun shone on leaves. Glimpses of healthy brown tendrils can be seen beneath the consuming canopy of emerald and peridot. But standing out even more against the backdrop of vibrant and healthy color of spring foliage is pale pink and purple blooms of color.

Egg 11 : Darkness's Claws Egg

Small, cold, frightening and black are the first words that come to describe this tiny egg. Made of the darkest shell ever, it literally absorbs the surrounding light, turning it into a pale halo that almost disappears when getting closer. Nothing seems able to perturb the linear surface as if the whole globe has no substance. An icy prison, but a prison that promises a great treasure.

Egg 12 : A Ramp of Wings Egg

Against the dark twilight blue that gently enfolds this egg flashes of color are highlighted by the glow from some light source unseen. Like wingspars and tails lifting diagonally from the darkness like a ramp of salvation, a multitude of brushstroke textured colors rise. Streaks of blue and brown gradients, supports green smudges, while flecks of bronze and gold weave between. At the pinnacle of this egg, surrounded by nothing but dark blue, frozen in mid-plunnet, a pale grayish brown spot lays, fractured and contrasted by the vibrant brown hues below. The pale brown smudge lines are fractured and awry, the lines tinted red as if stained from a circle of swirled red and yellows that hovers ominously near.

Egg 13 : Oceans Egg

Deep aqua and greens flow over the surface of the egg like the ocean's currents. Swirls of cloudy white whirlpools cap top and bottom and from the middle a dapple of chartreuse floats as if representing the shallow before the shore.

Egg 14 : Spindles Egg

The color of a clear pre-dawn sky is met with the dark shadow of seven looming spires. These dark purple and black masses, rocky and uneven, jut like fingers into the pale light which has just begun to halo their edges. The imagery wraps around the entirety of the egg so that the spindles of darkness form a band on the lower half of the egg.

Egg 15 : A White Egg

At first glance, so simple;a plain white egg.Compared to the other eggs, this one is small and almost lost in the sands. At first glance it is a simple white egg, the surface is smooth and shiney. But depending on the light, subtle colors swim amongst the pale shell. There is a shimmer of green, a haze of bronze and the tiniest specks of gold that is circled by the thin lines of hardwood brown. There is even a kiss of a translucent early fall morning blue at the tip.

Egg 16 : Liberating Dagger Egg

Proudly displayed on a solid field of maroon is a sketch of colors across this egg's surface that paint the picture of a dagger. This is no plain fisherman's weapon, though; it is an elaborately-crafted instrument, worthy of a Weyrleader. Painstakingly labored over for hours by an old Mastersmith, the dagger has a hilt of bronze, which has been fashioned into the body of a dragon. Each twist and curve of the dragon's body was made so that it fits the shape of the hand, and its wings, spread wide, act as the hand guards. A fiery red gem is embedded into its head to make its eye, and its mouth is wide open as if bellowing flame. This 'flame' is actually the blade, twisted and cut so that it resembles a tongue of fire. The gleaming silver draws to a wickedly fine point, but the quarter near the tip is stained with a dark substance, almost as red as most of the egg. From afar, it looks dark and sticky, almost like blood.

Egg 17 : Redwort Egg

This egg seems as if were stained red. It is not so deep a color but shines as if freshly dipped in a vat of redwort. It glistens and appears wet. The bright red color streaks in places as if it was left hung to drip dry. The richer red pools towards the bottom where it lays in the sands.

by Ramya

Egg 18 : Igen Desert Sands Egg

Tawny yellow mixes with pale tan and flecks of black and brown. They are spattered in miniature to completely cover the surface of the egg. If it weren't for the fact that the sand covering the Fort Hatching grounds was of a slightly different and grayer color then it would be lost among the sand, hidden from the spectators' view.

by Danielle

Egg 19 : Southern Boll Egg

A lush sea green color gently mixes into a deeper olive that is similar to the foliage of Southern Boll. Sprinkled throughout the surface are splotches of color. Orange, yellow, red and a long vein of brown that spreads out in a starburst at the top.

Egg 20 : Rukbat Egg

Like a precious mirror, reflecting Rukbat's rays, this egg is shiny, golden with hints of sunset and the promise of morning. From the center, a black crack wiggles outwards in the cardinal directions, stretching like spidery tendrils reaching up for warmth.
