Month6

Weyrling Program
Month6
Month 5 - Month 6

Weyrs! Private Spaces!

Things don't get any easier this month, but at least you're up in the air! Your dragons can hunt from the air now as they feed themselves twice a day, and now that you've had time to practice your flying, you're free to travel anywhere within the Weyr you like. And with a weyrlingmaster or your mentor to accompany you, you can also begin taking trips outside the Weyr again. You're limited, of course, by your dragon's endurance and you will not be allowed to overtax them, but by the end of the month, you'll be able to visit anywhere within the Reaches' coverage area.

Unfortunately, being able to fly isn't all the fun stuff. Your dragons are still growing fast enough that you're going to have to make new straps, or at least let out the ones you've already made, several more times before they finally reach adult size. Also, you'll spend much of your afternoons playing elevator, ferrying people to and from weyrs.

But hey! You /do/ get your own weyr to sleep in, as the barracks finally clear out. You'll have a selection to choose from, but none of them are likely to be very nice. Most of the weyrs are serviceable at best, but the headwoman and her assistants will be quite busy this month in helping you settle in and get the proper furnishings to turn the place into home.

Lessons these days are mostly focused on flying and aerial drills, as you practice for the activities you'll one day perform in a wing of your own. You'll also be sent along on sweeps and on missions around the Reaches' territory to learn the look of the places you've only seen on maps before. Those of you in the leadership program will be worked extra hard-in fact, not all of you will make it through this month. The extra work and duties will take their toll, and some of you will shortly drop out or be asked to leave by the weyrlingmasters.
