Outlive a Lie Egg
This pale egg is only perfectly smooth at its very top, where a halo of white winds before developing into the light blue of a summer morning sky, gauzy to the touch. The latter shade falls with the delicate grace of draped fabric, waves large at first, then smaller and dotted with glimmering flecks in jewel tones of sapphire and aquamarine that could easily be sequins or stars, or both. Again, the blue darkens to an icy sapphire as it forms delicate, scalloped panels around the base of the shell, flow defined by gentle, watery shadows that glimmer like sunlight over a clear lake, brought to life by what look like tiny diamonds.

A Spoonful of Sugar Egg
Bright and white, this ovoid is perfect in every way. It is a crisp snow white, a stark contrast against the sand of the Hatching Cavern. At a distance, its shape is flawless, smooth and without blemish from its domed tip to its rounded belly. Up close, a careful eye can make out the faintly glimmering details of a million little crystal white granules like sugar sprinkles. It stands upright and tall, not leaning to either side, which might be more Elaruth's doing than sheer will of the creature within the shell, but it does add to this egg's prim and proper air.
Inspiration: Based on the musical about the magical nanny, Mary Poppins, and one of its well-known songs entitled 'A Spoonful of Sugar'.

Doopity-Doo Egg
This egg is smaller, somewhat more round than its brethren, its surface relatively smooth, though seeming to possess subtle waves in places that might hint at a certain 'hairy' texture. It's overall color is a deep, very intense carrot shade of orange that might distress the eye with its shocking loudness. At the slightly pointier end of the shell, a deep-toned green - the shade of evergreens in twilight - sits upon the shell like a wig, /this/ region the one that possesses that certain, implied waviness. Not far below the 'hairy' green, two small, similarly 'hairy' arches of stark white lie side-by-side one another, making this egg appear vaguely surprised, in some strange fashion.
Inspiration: This egg is based off of 'Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory's' diminutive race of oompa loompas. These little dudes sang their weird hearts out often during this childhood staple musical.

See Your Name In Lights Egg
This egg is oblong in shape and wrapped in a silky rich chocolate hue from end to end, but it's the flecks of yellow and gold that really draw the eye, dotted over the entire surface. If you were to look again with unfocused eyes you might even imagine a name connected between those spots.
Inspiration: See your name in lights: The old Broadway signs that were lit by incandescent bulbs, they gave a warm yellow light and always carried a sense of whimsy.

Disconcerting Conceit Egg
As eggs go, this one ranges more toward spherical than ovoid. It's a fat, squat thing that's perfectly content to be deeply entrenched in the sand. The bright yellow shell could never be confused for gold; it's too lurid, too glossy, and too flat to be anything else. And then there are the strange black markings - two dots and a crescent with the points turned up - that lend a calculated and knowing smile to its surface.
Inspiration: This egg was inspired by "Walmartopia", a musical about - what else? - Walmart. The iconic yellow smiley face is ubiquitous and rather apt!

The Far Horizon Egg
One of the larger eggs, this one may raise and dash the hopes of many a girl, for it is primarily dappled in autumnal shades, dominated by golds and ambers that occasionally shimmer when the right light swings across them, but the shell as a whole does not shine or glow with the sheen that one would expect from one that conceals a queen. There seems to be no true pattern or order to the egg's colouring, but the small, sunshine bright, flower-shaped patches that are scattered across it appear to be distributed something like evenly. So faint as to only be obvious close-up, thin black zigzags ocasionally ring the shell's surface, creating a sense of noise.
Inspiration: The final scene from the 'Lord of the Rings' musical on the closing night of its London run.

Buttoned Up Egg
Stark and white, this egg is perhaps as pristine as any egg can be. Perfectly ovoid and with a glossy white shell, the only thing that could make it more complete is the curious, elongated black pentagon that's been inverted on one side. The flat end is practically pinned at the apex and the point is stretched neatly to the base, giving it the impression of something that's so tightly put together that it surely cannot hold.
Inspiration: The egg description was based on the black ties of the Mormons in "The Book of Mormon". It's a pretty striking image- and rather fitting (pun partially intended!).

La Vie Boheme Egg
The colors of this egg go against the grain, a mess of bright colors in blues and greens and reds that somehow seems to be fashionable. The colors even seem to light up under the glow of the caverns, as if tiny little sparkles of color of their own. The way it sits in the sands speaks to wanting to be the center of attention, and the shell itself smells faintly of curry and seaweed, and some more subtle scent of smoke.
Inspiration: From the movie version of the La Vie Boheme song in Rent and the surrounding restaurant and the lyrics themselves.

Audrey II Egg
The coloration of this smallish, rounded-ellipsoid egg is as sweet and heartwarming as a clear, Spring day: its center mass described by muted tints of off-white that shades into gentle lilac, and towards pastel purple. This trick of shading also makes the shell appear to possess leaves that radiate out from the pod-like middle, their breathy lavender tones shifting slowly into muted sage-green at outer edges. The only oddness about this egg is the nearly-fuschia, gently wandering line that bisects the 'pod' lengthwise across its lilac surface. Are those... lips? Or a perhaps less-sinister veining.
Inspiration: This egg is based off of the movie version of the musical 'Little Shop of Horrors,' and the evil, outer-space vegetation named 'Audrey II.' http://tinyurl.com/o4p9ety.

Endless Night Egg
A plethora of cool shadows fall upon this egg, shell peeking through the greens and blues of melancholy and wonder. Bright, leafy highlights sway across its surface, keeping tempo with its dark, isolated beauty. There are flecks of twinkling ivory at the top that eventually fade away to reveal a bronze silhouette that sits all alone, unable to reach the depths of that endless midnight.
Inspiration: I really love the songs that were added to the Lion King musical. Endless Night is my second favorite, but the live performance offers such a haunting array of colors and lights that I just /had/ to turn it into an egg.

The Only Thing to Do is Jump Egg
With a white shell and those markings all over that look like craters, this egg is like the moon of old, lunar bright and ethereal just sitting amongst the other eggs like a fallen star. It's probably perfectly round, by the look of it, if that were possible, but more interesting than that is the odd black smudge on one curved side, big enough to almost cover. It's shaped like a cow would be shaped if it were soaring through the sky with someone on its back, a shadow of some strange happening that never happened at all and yet is oddly inspirational.
Inspiration: The only thing to do is jump over the moon~ When Maureen climbed up on that cow's back in the movie adaption of Rent and got her whole audience to make a big scene it was very moo'ving. Ahem.

Warden Egg
The tilt of this round egg somehow manages to be sassy, selfish in the cradle of sand that it has been buried in, in charge of this little mound. Large enough to hold even a gold, it is however only a mix of caramel browns and dark greys that draw over the surface of this egg, though a touch of bronze glimmers beneath the surface and draws curves on the egg.
Inspiration: And now ladies and gentlemen - the keeper of the keys, the countess of the clink, the mistress of Murderers Row, Matron Mama Morton! Taking after Queen Latifah version from the movie.

Cutting Edge Egg
The sizable shell may not be sharp as such, but it's a cool steel grey... partially. The rest is a peculiar brownish puddle that, at its blotchy edges, stains the red of fresh blood or else ichorous green. Those colors have a sheen that might almost be liquid, while the grey has the sleek smoothness of honed metal; there's no matte brown here, no meat pies yet made.
Inspiration: Inspired, of course, by Sweeney Todd.

Cast-Away Shroud Egg
There is a semi-smooth coating of white over this egg, semi-smooth because a strange mottling of very pale grey suggests some kind of fine texture, like cloth but very subtle. If the egg were split in two vertically, down the middle, the one side of the shell is just that, a blank canvas, but the other side is a mosh of color. A creamy beige fades up in a gradient from light to dark and splotches around haphazardly but collected in one area. Layered over that are reds and blues, the former lower down and shaped vaguely like a pair of pouty lips; the latter is in two blobs slightly higher up, like two closed eyelids awash in smeared eyeshadow. Strategically placed black lines bleed drippy eyeliner and mascara and represent finely penciled-in eyebrows.
Inspiration: Zee Shroud of Hedwig, a notable souevneir from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which just hit Broadway this year. It tells a sometimes-dark story that spans a lot of life lessons, but to me the most important was being true to who you are.
