Hatching WYSK

The Hatching window for Summer 2015 is June 27 at 3 PM EST/2 PM CST/1 PM MST/12 PST.

The following is gathered information about hatching day for Candidates and what to expect when the eggs roll and crack, and then afterwards. It also includes tips and suggestions on how to prepare for the hatching.

  • You do NOT need to be at the hatching in order to impress. Please let us know if you will be absent and if you'd like, provide us with some emits to use. You're also welcome to find a puppeteer for your character but this is not required.

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the stated hatching time.

  • Gather in the barracks and use the 'sands' exit to go to the Sands when told to do so by your coordinator of the day. If you're running late, please use +go ftw-sand to jump directly there. We will assume that you've been here all along and came in with the others. There is no need to pose about dashing onto the Sands late unless this has been arranged ahead of time as a facet of RP for the hatching.

  • Robe descs are optional. If you'd like to make one and put it on for the hatching, please feel free, but it's not required.

  • We suggest setting up your MUSH client ahead of time with color highlights to make it easier to find your poses in the spam.

  • Please note that we do not wait for every person on the Sands to pose before emitting the next egg pose/hatch the next egg and so on. While we certainly wish to make the hatching a fun RP experience for everyone, we also try to keep our hatchings under an hour. To that end, please try to maintain a pose rate of 2 minutes or less for each of your poses. There is no need to pose to each egg/hatchling. A cohesive narrative with your fellow candidates/the audience/general surroundings is more interesting RP than reacting to every new emit from the hatcher.

  • If you impress, please announce your dragon's name in your impression pose. A member of the WLM-team will page you with the exit from the sands to the barracks and escort you off the sands by RP, but will not exit with you to the barracks. Please pose your response to impression as promptly as possible, within 5 minutes or less of receiving the private impression message is preferred.

  • Puppeteers will RP your dragon with you for a mutually agreeable period of time after the hatching, then turn over control of the dragon to you. Please page your puppeteer to arrange the transfer. If you disconnect or need to leave suddenly, don't worry, we can force chown the dragon to you and you will not lose your dragon.

  • After the hatching, weyrlings report to the WLM-team for the next few OOC months. The Fort Weyrlinghood pages provide a guide to expectations for weyrlings.

  • If you do not impress, we encourage you to wait a day or two to let the rush of the hatching and any immediate reaction disperse a little. if you have questions or would like feedback, we encourage you to contact the admin team with a +mail to ftwadmin so that the message goes to all of the admin team members. Please do not page, +mail or contact any individual member of the dragonwriting team who is not on the admin team for answers to questions. The admin team will be happy to provide you with feedback from the team as a whole and/or sit down to discuss the reasons why you were not selected for impression. All comments and feedback are gleaned from discussions by the admin team and +comments from the Weyr as a whole, but may be edited into a cohesive narrative for ease of reading by the admin team prior to release to former candidates.
