FTW:Hatching WYSK

The Hatching window for our Winter 2016 cycle is TBD.
The following is gathered information about hatching day for Candidates and what to expect when the eggs roll and crack, and then afterwards. It also includes tips and suggestions on how to prepare for the hatching.
- You do not need to be at the hatching in order to impress. If you know you cannot make it, please +mail ftwadmin to let us know. You are welcome to find a puppeteer for your character and provide the puppeteer with emits to use, but this is not necessary.
- Please log in at least 15 minutes prior to the posted hatching time.
- Gather in the barracks and use the 'sands' exit to go to the Sands when told to do so. If you're running late, please use +go ftw-sand to jump directly there; it will be assumed that you were there all along - no need to pose about dashing onto the sands late unless this has been arranged ahead of time as a facet of RP for the hatching.
- There will be no group bow pose; you may feel free to do so individually, but it is generally assumed that the candidates bow to the dam and sire upon entering the sands as is traditional, before settling into a semicircle around the outskirts of the eggs.
- You do not need a robe desc. If you wish to, that is your prerogative but admin and SC will not be checking robe descs. Please bear in mind for RP that robes are basically long, white potato sacks with arm and neck holes and that there are enough that everyone should have been able to find ones that fit within reason and that sandals or boots are usual footwear to protect against the heat of the sands.
- Due to the volume of people participating and NPC emits, there is no pose order for hatching and we ask that you pose no more than one pose per egg/hatchling pose. Please begin all of your poses with your character's name as it makes it easier for SC to identify your poses amid the action. We recommend keeping poses short because there is a lot to read and ask that you pose consistently enough that we know you're still at your keys.
- If you are able, we suggest setting up your MUSH client ahead of time with color highlights to make it easier to find your poses in the spam.
- If you impress, please include your dragon's name in your next pose. If you don't like your dragon's name, simply omit it from your pose and +mail ftwadmin the next day to let us know you'd like a change. Please pose your response to impression as promptly as possible, within 5 minutes of receiving the private impression message is preferred.
- If you impress, a member of the WLM-team will page you with the exit from the sands to the barracks and ICly escort you off the sands, but will not exit with you to the barracks.
- The puppeteer of your dragon will page you after impression to touch base so you know who they are and can coordinate. Puppeteers may RP your dragon with you for a mutually agreeable period of time after the hatching, then turn over control of the dragon to you.
- After the hatching, weyrlings report to the WLM-team for the next few OOC months. The Fort Weyrlinghood pages provide a guide to expectations for weyrlings.
- We encourage those who do not Impress to wait at least 24 hours before +mailing ftwadmin with questions or requests for feedback. The admin team will gladly provide feedback and/or sit down to chat with you.
