FTWClutch:24/Eggs
Burnt Geometry Egg
Deep pockets of golden brown crisscross over the entirety of this squat ovoid. Shaped like diamonds, each one is dimpled by tiny bubbles of sunshine yellow prancing at odd intervals everywhere. The edges of each pocket look vaguely charred, crisped from gold to umber and in places even down to black. The diamonds follow the edges of the egg around and molding to the strange curves to create and unbroken pattern.

Flawed Glory Egg
The shell of this egg is so clear as to almost appear translucent, as if by getting close enough you could peer through the shell into what hides beneath. There's depths of light and color eluded to within its pale green surface, sparkling through the illusion of various planes cut at different angles to diffuse the color through a range of tones at various places. Even the most well cut gem might have imperfections, however, and this egg is no exception. Swimming within that translucency are spots and even jagged cracks, specks of dirt and charcoal and tiny fissures that detract the light, skew the balance of color while lending interest overall.
Inspiration: An occluded emerald.

Cheer Up Emo Egg
Small splattered splotches of doleful purple and bleak white spoil the ostensible black of this tragic egg. Colors overlap here and there, dripping away from their sources to make enigmatic shapes; cracked hearts, hazy stars, shadowed skulls. Closer inspection of the shell reveals the black expanse is crisscrossed by deep, sparkling slivers of red.
Inspiration: The stereotypical emo subculture.

Vtol Motor Egg
Royal blue slicks the sides of this bright, squat egg, with a spiraling curl of alternating stripes in lime and a slightly lighter blue trailing upward to its tip where colors wisp out into translucency giving a faint impression of vtol wings. Slightly off its axis, at times this egg seems to almost to want to leap forward out of its bed of sand, like it's in a hurry to get somewhere.

Evaporation Egg
Narrow, attenuated in shape, this egg might almost seem to be too columnar to actually hold a developing hatchling. A dull, leaden gray wraps its base, with clusters of bubbles trailing upward along smooth sides only to fade out into long wisps of white steam. The top of the egg seems hazy, indistinct as if it has boiled away into the air above the sands.
Inspiration: Endothermic reactions, specifically the vaporization and evaporation of water.

Is It Watching Me? Egg
From a distance, this smallish egg is almost pure ivory, though close up it is traced with minute red threads, and the whole thing glistens ever so slightly despite - or perhaps because of - the heat. The most shocking thing about it is the pair of gaudy circles on the side, one in striated shades of brown from amber to walnut, and the second, centered within, sheer black. Whether turned toward the galleries or not, this egg always seems to know where any watchers are.
Inspiration: Eyeballs.

Transforming The Myth Egg
One would be forgiven for not paying this egg much attention, for it is one of the smallest of the clutch and not particularly attractive. It looks almost ill, with its faded yellow base and sickly grey-green smokey trails slipping over its curves, darkening to pick out pitted flaws in the shell. Deep red sits dappled around its base in faint, wispy shapes like blood dispersing through water.

Beware The Loch Egg
Tipped on its side, this egg could simply be a perfect pool of innocent blue water. Its only upon closer inspection that its depths become apparent and that which lurks within them. Strands of silver fine enough to make up a mane or runners tail mingle with what look to be faint fingerprints, smudged and blurry. Two black ovals at the shells widest point could be shadowy eyes... But are they human or runner?

Flirting With Darkness Egg
Black, blacker, blackest The dark nothingness of Between envelopes this egg. Smooth, even, and unbroken is the shade of ebony but for a ring of color a third of the way from the top. Looking down on it, the top is that deep black, a halo of orange, pale near the top, growing brighter as it wraps down. The color variegated from its center like the petals of a poppy, flirting with the otherwise dark surface swirled like a girls skirt. This band ends abruptly however in a deep red-orange line that feathers off into utter darkness.

Where's My Aquarium? Egg
The light catches in the subtle suggestion of layered curves all along the surface of this egg, a pattern almost like scales emerging. Two small black circles within larger cerulean ones sit to either side of the upper curve of the ovoid. A bold black stripe might possibly circle the entire egg, connecting those circles together. On one side of that dividing line, the shell is hued white with a tint of bright yellow streaking along like a fin. The opposite side is a more silvered shade that leads into the warm tones of polished brass.

Furry Red Monster Egg
It's a bright, cheery egg colored all over with red. Darker shades of maroon swirl around and create an illusion that looks very similar to fluffy fur. There's a dark splash across the middle that curves up, giving the impression that this one might just be smiling. This is further aided by the lack of crimson coloration in two spots above which is punctuated by black spots in the middle of those, like big unblinking eyes. Right smack in the middle of all this a round spot that's not so much red as it is orange overall it just adds to the comical appearance of this particular egg.

Herschel's Celestial Discovery Egg
Enclosed by loose, diagonal-running belts of colour, this egg gives the dizzying impression of constant motion, the shifting pattern of those hoops lost in hues of malachite and viridian. Greyed undercurrents delve and reappear, wheeling across the shell in great bands. Touch if you dare, for the striking contrast of dark and light gives the illusion of sharpness and that widening succession of rings almost appears to project from the shell itself.

Waterbound Flock Egg
This egg, so perfectly egg-shaped with its domed bottom and bluntly pointed top, is whiter than any egg should rightly be. No creams or ivories touch this shell, just the sharp, pristine white usually reserved for angels and virgins, cut through with just enough slivers of silver to feather out a few edges and make it seem downy. No angel, though, the egg has flaws interrupting that white purity; a group of small dashes, brilliant orange chased with black, scatter at random across the shell.
Inspiration: This egg is based on an eyrar, which in addition to being a cool word, is the term for a group of swans.

Footsteps To Infinity Egg
As though it has been coated in grey sand, the surface of this small egg gives the impression of being uneven and rough, though it is no more so than any other amidst the clutch. At the narrowest end of the ovoid shape, an angular blotch shaded primarily silver, with several protruding narrow 'legs' in foil-like gold, is settled, as though perched amidst the sand. Leading away from this shape are a set of what could almost be described as footsteps, embossed forever like some testament to exploration, heading off into the great unknown on the far curve of the egg's mottled shell.
Inspiration: This egg was inspired by the "Eagle", the Lunar Module used by the Apollo 11 mission - the first to ever land upon the surface of the moon. More information about the Eagle, and the rest of the mission, can be seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_11
