He's of medium size for his hue and has scars down both flanks as well as more minor nicks and dings. If a HRW AWLM can be called a pushover, J'vain is it.   Just over six feet tall, G'chet is a large young man in build as well as height, though his time as a rider has replaced some of his bulk with muscle. His hair is dark blonde, his eyes blue; he has a nice face, perhaps not outright handsome, but far from unattractive. G'chet, formerly Garchet, comes from a long line of Bakers, a craft he also joined at age thirteen, though mostly because that's pretty much what all of his family did. He'd been posted at High Reaches Weyr for only a couple of months when he was searched for Iovniath and Cadejoth's first, an opportunity he accepted with great excitement. That excitement only increased when he was found on the sands by sandy brown Holkinth, who hatched from the Jupiter's Revenge Egg. %r%rThe two are made for each other: both exceptionally nice, excellent listeners, prone to good humour. Being chosen to join the leadership program was an excellent first step to averting the pair's natural inclination towards laziness; ultimately, they did well enough to be chosen as Wingsecond by Weyrling Wingleader K'ndro.   K'vel is tall and freckled, with rich, chestnut brown hair that holds a light curl. He has big green eyes, and a crooked, merry smile. Myronth is mahogany brown in colour, very large for a brown. Kalavel was born at High Reaches Hold, where his mother was posted as a Journeyman Weaver; his father was a local, a farmer. They had a peculiar kind of marriage, this pair, clearly in love with each other, but frequently at odds due to their differences in background and ideal lifestyle. Kalavel often felt trapped between them, unsure whether he ought to be following his mother into the world of crafts, or doing what his father wanted, and working in the fields. %r%rThe decision was made for him when High Reaches Weyr riders, visiting to speak with Lord High Reaches about incidents involving Balen, picked him up on Search. Both parents considered it to be a privilege and an honour, and thus, he went to the weyr proudly. He did his duty in doing so, and if it made him happy... well, that was all the better, wasn't it? Telavi is his long-time girlfriend, on and off since weyrlinghood and more settledly so since turn 35. After the last batch of weyrlings graduated, he's started riding with Snowdrift Wing, spending much of his time with the Weyr's Smiths.

  Like most of High Reaches Hold's ruling family, Braeden is tall and blonde, with blue eyes. He's attractive, if in a 'soft' kind of way. The first child of Rynien and Shaie of High Reaches Hold, Braeden's birth was heralded as a great day for the Hold: they loved their ruling family. His sister, Issedi, arrived on his fourth turnday-- and that was one of the greatest days in ''his'' young life. The siblings were close; despite the age difference, they became excellent friends during their youth. %r%rRelations between Braeden and his father began to sour during his early teen turns, though they managed to keep that largely hidden from the Hold. It was this souring that led to Braeden's fostering at Tillek, an experience that was intended to make a man out of him... or at least keep him out of his father's gaze. Braeden and Issedi missed each other desperately. %r%rBy rights, Braeden should have returned home a few turns later, formally acknowledged as his father's heir... but he did not. It was a single crack in the veneer of their perfect family. In the end, it was not until his father died, suddenly, in his sleep, in Turn 28, that Braeden came home. Whatever his father's reservations had been, the Hold itself had none: he was confirmed as Lord Holder a few months later, now aged 25. %r%rThe following turn, he saved his sister from being married off to Lord Aughan of Crom, by marrying her instead to the exile, Devaki. Such is the way of things in a Weyr, though and it wasn't long after that Lansha was born. L'drel and Shana became loving parents to the boy until it was time to turn him over to the foster parents of the weyr. They both moved on to other mates, but always remained as close as they could. Lansha completed his schooling, then became a fixture around the weyr, doing whatever chores and odd jobs that were required of him. He always seems quick with a cheerful smile or a laugh - when he's not hard at work, that is.

  Not an ugly man, really. He's a little chubby, owing to a soft life as first a Lord's son, then a Lord's brother, then a Steward, but he's got a pleasant face and he's well-groomed. Dark brown hair, soft, common-looking brown eyes. He stands 5'10", tall enough to be respectable as Lord but with very little imposing about his presence. He's presentable but not really Lordly. A younger son of Nabol Hold, never in line for succession, Potipher aspired to little but to be a steward when his brother came to Lordship. Which he did! He married wisely at the age of 20 to a pleasant holder lass named Nadlee, who bore him two daughters before succumbing to fever eight Turns after their marriage. He might have been content as a widower had not he been approached by Edeline during her exile. She was known to be pretty and bright and, though her fortunes were currently rocky, he would benefit from the marriage either way-- whether she came to Nabol to be mother to his children or they went to Tillek and she became Lady Holder. Ultimately, it was the latter that prevailed, and he was installed as Lord Tillek. He has no ambition to rule and leaves such things to his wife, really.

  Of average height and build, M'kenos is unremarkable in features, with brown hair and eyes, and skin weathered by the wind and sun to be more leathery than his age ought to imply. Markenos hails from one of those small holds on the coast, in the Tillek area, and followed in the footsteps of all of the men in his family, taking to the seas as soon as he was old enough. It was while on a brief shore leave that he was picked up on search, which he agreed to more or less on a whim. It paid off, when he Impressed blue Behranth from the Bounce Off The Ceiling, Hit Floor, Jam Door, Ding! Dead Egg, when Iovniath and Cadejoth's eggs hatched. Though M'kenos is generally quite terse, Behranth brings out the emotions in him; the two have quite a close bond. At graduation, they were tapped into Icicle Wing.

  Of average height, Y'sen's most defining feature is his white-blonde hair and pale eyes, both of which suggest he is, perhaps, distantly related to the High Reaches Hold ruling family-- which is, after all, the Hold where he was born. Dobrianth is a bright, electric blue - definitely recognisable from a distance. Yalsen and his family arrived at High Reaches Weyr when he was still a toddler; he barely remembers the Hold he was born at, or any part of his life before. His father is a weaver, and by all reports a very good one, though Yalsen never showed any talent for the craft, and despite pressure from his family, never apprenticed. He spent his early teens loafing more than working, and would probably never even have thought of asking to stand were it not for Briora, who first seduced the young man, and, later, Searched him via her green Ousath for Iovniath's second clutch (not something that made her especially happy, in the end). %r%rCandidacy was eye-opening for Yalsen, though it honestly wasn't until the day of the hatching that he really realised how much he wanted it to work out for him. He spent most of the hatching unable to work out which direction to look in, which is probably why he missed his Dobrianth, who hatched from the Cold Approach Egg, until the blue was right in front of him. It was undeniably love at first sight. %r%rDobrianth has drive where Y'sen does not; together, they're likely to be a formidable pair. In the meantime... Y'sen is still pining after Briora.

  Tall and fair-haired with soft blue eyes, Nederan is handsome enough-- though his mouth is pinched-looking and his eyes are somewhat narrow and shrewd in appearance. He has the fair, chapped-looking skin common to the northern seaholds. Born to a wealthy seaholder near Tillek and his young wife Ysave, Nederan is not technically a Blooded man. After his father's death, his mother remarried to the recently widowed Lord Drehfti of Tillek Hold, and Nederan was brought up as if he were the Lord's Heir-despite the fact that Lord Drehfti had legitimate daughters by his first wife and Ysave. Proud and stubborn, calculating and determined, Nederan has taken a personal interest in the management and future of Tillek Hold. It was marked by many that he would have made a fine Steward for the Hold since his lineage certainly wouldn't allow Drehfti to name his heir! Nederan was married to Drilnity, a cousin of Lord Nabol, when he was 22. When Drehfti died in Turn 17, his mother pressed Nederan to claim Tillek Hold-- and he did for a Turn before relinquishing rule back to his step-sister Edeline. He and his family live quietly in a seahold not far from Tillek.

  Tall, more handsome than pretty, and dignified without fault, Mielline has the bearing of one completely at home with her position and life; good breeding is a cornerstone of everything she is. Her dark blonde hair is most frequently worn bound up upon her head and secured with unornamented pins; worn down, it's halfway down her back, and faintly waved. She has dark brown eyes and a narrow chin, a long, slender nose, and high cheekbones. Now in her mid-thirties, she's slender and toned, and dresses conservatively in tailored trousers and blouses; when she's not at work, a skirt is more common. The daughter of a minor holder in the Nabol area, with direct blood ties to Ustelan, Mielline's future ought to have been one of marriage and family, probably something strategic that would bring prestige to her father. At sixteen, she was engaged to a promising young man from a larger Hold in the area, but before the wedding could be held, the following turn, the young man was tragically killed. It was during the period that followed, as her father attempted to find a new (and, perhaps, better) match for her, that searchriders from High Reaches arrived, and proposed an alternative plan. She'd been Wingsecond of Snowdrift for only a turn when the Comet Falls commenced, and was promoted to Wingleader a few months after they finally ended, her Wingleader having decided it was high time for a proper retirement. %r%rMielline has turned the skills she was raised with to use within her wing, now that the Interval is in full swing, though the end result is anything but traditional. Unconventional though it may sometimes seem, Snowdrift is hard to overlook as an excellent example of what an Interval wing can be.

The daughter of a laundry worker and one of the weyr's handymen, Celdine is the middle child of seven, and the first in family recollection to have actually asked to Stand. She was always the odd one out: dreamy, determined in her own way, unwilling to simply settle into any mundane task in particular.   There's no denying that Elsan is pretty, with red-blonde curls and big blue eyes that just beg for attention. She's tall and slender, with curves in all the right places, and a mouth just built for pouting. Jensalyth is a deep emerald in colour, probably as pretty as her rider. Elsan was Searched from Nabol Hold; she may claim that her father is directly related to Lord Ustelan, but there's no evidence for this-- in all honesty, she's nothing more than a normal holder's daughter. She had a normal upbringing, too: she learned the usual feminine arts, and perhaps would have ended up in service to Lady Ienavi had she not caught the attention of bronzerider H'tram. Thinking her both pretty and in some way /interesting/, the bronzerider apparently picked her up in the hope of having High Reaches' next Weyrwoman in his debt. Elsan was easily convinced by his promises of glory, and returned to the weyr with him-- she fully expected that a gold dragon would eventuate, followed by H'tram as her all-but husband. %r%rInstead, she found the weyr in many ways confronting; being found on the sands by green Jensalyth did little to help her confusion.   Thin and freckled, P'lask has a boyish face that usually holds some kind of gap-toothed grin. His dark hair is wavy and thick, and he has quite long, dark eyelashes, making him certainly not unattractive. Parlaskin grew up at the Seacraft, being the only son of one of the Masters. He never had any particular inclinations towards joining the craft himself, and instead worked mostly odd jobs until he was searched for Iovniath and Cadejoth's first clutch. His jade green Cayvisath took her sweet time finding him on the sands, but he's never looked back. His best friend, pretty much since weyrlinghood began, has been his clutchmate Urda, and though many assumed the pair would ultimately have a romantic relationship, his attentions eventually ended up focused upon Tavini, a brownrider in Boreal. The two ultimately got together a month or two before graduation, and have had a remarkably stable relationship. P'lask was actually requested by Alpine's leadership at the end of graduation, and joined that wing with great pride.

Quick, lithe and intelligent, she led her wing the same way-- she was always aware of who is where in formation, and how they were doing, making her excellent in threadfall and, later, in simple drills. Her sense of rhythm always had formations changing without skipping a beat. %r%rSisha was Wingsecond of Icicle for many turns before, after L'vae stepped down, she was promoted to Wingleader of Avalanche in turn 19. Later that turn, K'del became Weyrleader and officially Wingleader of Avalanche, although in practice most of that duty continued to fall to Sisha. She resumed leadership of the wing turns later, leading Avalanche until her retirement at the very beginning of Turn 39.

She vanished from the Weyr a few months later.%r%rReesa arrived at the Weyr in Turn 31 with green Khiabeth. It soon came out that she had Impressed one of Isyath and Adiulth's stolen eggs, though she refuses to talk about her time before arriving at the Weyr. Freckled, with red hair, his liquid brown eyes are far and away his best features. Karavas was an Apprentice Farmcrafter before he was picked up on search for Iovniath and Cadejoth's first clutch. He instantly found everything about the weyr 'absolutely fascinating' - and in particular, his brown Tethueth, hatched from the Boom! Goes The Egg. He was chosen to join the leadership program during weyrlinghood, where his natural enthusiasm aided him admirably.   Topping 5 feet tall by only an inch, Mai is the kind of girl who looks more dainty and breakable than she could feasibly actually be. Her masses of red-brown curly hair have been cut short for weyrlinghood, which means her face is distinctly less lost behind them, now: she has equally dainty features, from the narrow point of her nose to that rose-bud like mouth. Pretty, but more in a little-girl way than anything. Mai hails from High Reaches Weyr, the daughter of two blueriders who've been friends - and on-again-off-again lovers - pretty much since they both Impressed not long before the pass ended. She was already openly enjoying casual relationships with other women when she was searched at sixteen, something she put on hold in order to Impress seafood green Quesath. She was selected to join the leadership program, though her youth and physical size left her slightly less capable than some of her companions. %r%rTowards the end of weyrlinghood, she made overtures to fellow clutchmate Kalisti, which, to the surprise of both women, were returned.   V'nian is a young man of average height, with sandy blond hair and green eyes. He's prone to acne, but his strength of will stops him from ever scratching, so at least it never scars. He'll probably never be especially good looking, but when he actually manages to smile (which isn't terribly often), it's a nice one. High Reaches Weyr resident Vorenian was supposed to leave for the Beast Craft the very day that he was Searched for Iovniath and Cadejoth's first clutch. He elected to put off his apprenticeship, just to see, and ended up walking away from the sands with midnight blue Fierfanth, hatched from the You May Be Eaten By A Grue Egg. Fierfanth is clumsy and awkward, but sweet and outgoing, especially in comparison to his focused and intense rider. %r%rV'nian is desperately eager to prove that he's as good as anyone else, if not better, particularly given his age. It was to his great satisfaction that he was not held back, and joined Taiga wing on graduation, under the mentorship of one of his fellow blueriders.

  Vashelle grew up in a small cothold north of Fort and moved to the Great Big Weyr when she was sixteen, for various personal reasons she generally keeps to herself. In fact, she keeps a /lot/ to herself. She's not reclusive, but she tends to be socially awkward, and she knows it. This just makes her clam up even more. Vash tends to say things now and then that are barely connected to the conversation at hand, and at times she ends up downright insulting, though she's usually oblivious to that fact.%R%RThe one place Vashelle seems comfortable and even outgoing is among the runners. She got a job as a stablehand almost immediately upon coming to the Weyr, and that's been her life ever since. Where words continue to fail her, actions do not. She has a certain degree of intuition that works well with runners, and likely other animals, too. Possibly even animals of the Pernese variety.
