Activities

Weyrling Program
Month2
Month 1 - Month 2

Group Roleplay

  • Clay Dragon Model-Making: You get to put all the knowledge of dragon anatomy classes into action by trying to create a clay replica of your dragon and later it will be glazed and returned to you.
  • Dinner with your first tastes of alcohol since Impression may turn out to be interesting depending on how your dragon reacts.
  • And speaking of dinner-some of your dragons are probably pretty excited about the prospect of getting to eviscerate their very own herdbeasts, right?

Vignette Options

  • Write a short vignette of a first time experience for you and your dragon-first time trying a new food, a new activity, meeting a new person.
  • Write a short vignette of a disagreement or argument between your character and their dragon. It can be about anything at all: opinions of other people, appearance, what to do this afternoon, whatever strikes your fancy.
  • Write a vignette that explains a situation from different vantage points: a he-said-she-said twith the rider and dragon differing (or concuring!) on what really happened.
  • Write a vignette regarding one of your most precious possessions and your dragon's reaction to it.
  • Write a vignette regarding one of the off-camera lectures listed below.
  • Write a vignette in regards to your dragon's thoughts on his or her clutchmates. How are they different? What do their thoughts sound and smell like? Does he or she like them? What parts do they like? What parts do they not like?

Off-Camera Lectures

  • General: Basic self-defense.
  • Healers: Basic first aid for humans.
  • Harpers: Remedial writing, reading, and math as necessary.
  • Harpers: Teaching Songs in regards to Weyr duty.
  • Harpers: Etiquette around the Weyr towards visitors.
  • Harpers: Etiquette outside of the Weyr and in general.
  • Dragonhealing: Wing anatomy and ailments in particular with wings.
  • Dragonhealing: Advanced dragon anatomy.

Individual Roleplay Ideas

  • Get your hair cut. All weyrlings must have hair above the shoulder and preferably shorter. Emphasis is on ease of care, and for it to be kept out of the eyes.
  • Have a physical with a Healer.
  • Talk to the Headwoman or one of her assistants about getting 'new' work clothes, suitable for oil and blood and baby dragons.
  • Meet your fellow weyrling dragons! Have your dragon get to know all his clutchmates mentally. Explore their own unique personalities and voices.

Assistant Weyrlingmaster Roleplay Ideas

  • Get to know one of the assistants and what he or she does in the Weyr apart from weyrlingmastering. Ask questions of what it was like when they were weyrlings and what they did to make it easier.
  • Mirror, mirror: Exercises in sharpening the mental bond where the weyrling pair closes both eyes and they have to reflect one or the other's movements. Such as if the dragon lifts his/her wing, the rider will lift the mirror image arm. It can also be played where the rider or dragonet has to do something completely different from what the other is doing, to test how far the pair have come along in differentiating between their individual thoughts.
  • Have your dragon meet an assistant's.
