Suireh
Contents
Description
A steadiness prevails about this slight teenager, from the arch of slender brows over large, steadfast gray eyes and the way her thin lips are set in an ever-so neutral expression near constantly. Standing just shy of five feet, Suireh is a lithe girl, her thin carriage carried in what the kind might call regal, while the uncharitable might discern notes of an insolent arrogance, a certain better-than-you demeanor. Her glossy dark hair is generally kept in two plaits that fall down her back to her waist. Her attire is a predominately white shift dress with pale blue trim, over which she wears a fur vest that cuts just above her waist. On her feet are a pair of thin suede slippers dyed harper blue.

Anvori is her uncle and her primary caretaker after her mother's death. Suireh's learned to wrap him around her finger, mostly because Anvori comments about how much she reminds him of an odd mix of his sister and father. She gets away with a lot more than she probably should, including quitting being an apprentice at Harper Hall.
Riahla is her twin, older by minutes. Suireh loves her sister fiercely and is utterly devoted to Riahla, but also has an odd sense of entitlement when it comes to Riahla doing things for her. Giving up things for her. Existing for her. It's an odd co-dependency. They also bicker a lot, but woe to the person who attacks one or the other. "I can call my sister stupid, but you can't." And no, they never finish each other's sentences.
Leova is her uncle's friend. That's what Suireh calls her at any rate, perhaps understanding the title of 'aunt' doesn't quite belong and while she trusts Leova implicitly, even at a young age, she wouldn't have anything to do with Leova trying to raise her. Or scold her. Or mold her. But then again, maybe that's less to do with Leova and more to do with Suireh's core stubbornness that's masked by all those layers of filial politeness.
Madilla is a healer at the Weyr that Suireh admires from afar. Though the memories are dim, she knows that the journeywoman was posted young to High Reaches Weyr and eventually got promoted. In her heart of hearts, she wants to be like Madilla: gentle, kind, driven, but for some reason, it's difficult for her to -become- like that. Granted, she doesn't try very hard and maybe that's just it: everything in life has been so simple for her, she doesn't have to try, so trying for anything becomes moot.
Satiet is a woman to be idolized. Memories of her mother are fading rapidly, but there's a certain reverance with which Suireh thinks of her mother. If Madilla is what her secret heart of hearts aspires towards, Satiet is what she publicly holds as an example. It's hard to find things to hate about a woman who's dead and was dying. It's hard to remember all the times she wasn't there to soothe a child's little heartaches. As a weyrbrat, Suireh understands that parents don't always take care of or raise their young. Still, there's that odd pang in her heart, and maybe having a mother around even distantly would be better than having no mother, right?
Tiriana is the woman who will never be able to replace her mother. Never. Suireh has very little respect for Tiriana and it shows in her marked insolence towards the Weyrwoman.
R'hin is her father. He dotes on her and her sister. But he's particularly absent and when they do visit Monaco, they visit for the absolute freedom of both reputation and any kind of parenting influence.
Rorkes is her voice instructer. Having a former Weyrwoman and Weyrleader for parents makes for a nice nest egg for her guardian to have and utilizing that, Anvori pays Rorkes to keep Suireh on as a student so she can have the best of both worlds: Instruction in the art she's chosen and the ability to stay close to home and all that is familiar to her. She's in love with his voice and her thirteen year old heart thinks she might be in love with the journeyman harper, but her rational older-than-her-years mind realizes otherwise. Astutely, she recognizes a sadness about her teacher and wonders at the mystery of it all. Then again, it might just be all in that voice of his, and really, who isn't in love with Rorkes' voice?
Raija is Tiriana's cousin from Telgar Weyr who visits on occasion. Envious of how beautiful the older girl is (3 years older than herself), Suireh tries to model herself after Brijana's perfect little minion.
