WYSK
Born Indakris to M'kris and Indalys in Turn 12 of the Interval.
Grew up in the shade of his old-blood Monacoan family: his sister Impressed a queen, his father was a Wingleader, and his grandmother was a Senior Weyrwoman in her day.
... all of which made it a little awkward when I'kris Impressed brown and not bronze.
On the plus side, his Svissath caught High Reaches' Rielsath before they'd even graduated!
... except that, in what is rumoured to be an act intended to impress his father, I'kris then murdered High Reaches' senior, Iolene.
After being convicted for the murder, I'kris died at his own hand on Day 22, Month 5, Turn 30. He was 17.
Description
Dark eyes, dark hair and dusky skin speak to the racial origins of distant relations; so too do the width of his nose and those fine, slender lips that give him such an appealing smile. I'kris has yet to grow out of his teenage lankiness, but weyrlinghood has given him broad shoulders and muscles, and rather more poise than he once had. His hair is growing out, now, enough so that he can style it into spikes... but only when there's no duty to call.
I'kris wears his heavy riding trousers low on his hips, belted securely into place; beneath his riding jacket, his shirt is frequently unbuttoned low. His knot suggests he's still a weyrling - Monaco Weyr, brown dragon.

History
I'kris' family has been intertwined with the leadership of Monaco Weyr for generations: they've produced Weyrwomen, Weyrleaders, Wingleaders, even the occasional Headwoman. I'kris, born Indakris, is the son of M'kris and Indalys - a Wingleader and a former Candidate whose lineage is august in the Holder sense - and knew from childhood what his responsibility would be. If his father was not a hands-on kind of father in the general, day-to-day life they lived, he was certainly nonetheless very present: young Kris would never be able to forgot that his family was important, and that his father expected great things. The same was true for his sister Mirinda, four turns older than him, but perhaps in a lesser way: there were only so many queens she might Impress in these Interval days, whereas Kris' bronze might hatch at any time.
Mirinda was still only fourteen when Evielth laid a queen egg, which was younger than her mother might have preferred. Still, there was no way to guarantee she'd ever have another chance, so on to the sands she went. Kris was too young, of course, but he was in the galleries when Mirinda Impressed her Zaisavyth - and when the pressures on him got heavier still. Wouldn't it be a coup for M'kris if both of his children Impressed metallic dragons? True, they could not both lead the Weyr, but they could be at the top!
Zaisavyth was four turns old before she rose for her maiden flight, and hers was the first flight since the one she'd hatched at. It was Interval, and this was not terribly surprising, but it made for long, anxious turns for Kris, who was eager for the pressure to be off. M'kris couldn't have been more proud when Zaisavyth laid a gold egg, though that pleasure turned sour when the negotiations were made for that egg to be given to High Reaches. M'kris was not precisely quiet about his distaste for the exile queen at High Reaches, and he could certainly see the reasoning behind the move... but it hurt.
It hurt worse when one of the High Reaches girls Impressed Zaisavyth's golden egg, but not as much as it hurt when Indakris - I'kris - Impressed not bronze, but /brown/.
And I'kris? He loved his Svissath, but he was devastated at his failure. How, now, could he prove himself to his distant but much-admired father? How could he be useful?
It felt as though he finally had an opportunity to do something when, in the dying days of his weyrlinghood, his Svissath caught High Reaches' Rielsath in a surprising turn of events. It was decided to send I'kris and his brown to stay at the northern weyr until the eggs were hatched, rather as an ambassador of sorts. Now, I'kris thought, he could stand out. How many seventeen turn old brownriders ever got a chance like that?
His desperate need to impress his father led him astray, however. Knowing his father's distaste for the exile queen, and having heard his 'if only she were dead' remarks, he decided to murder her himself. He very nearly backed out - but love for his father pushed him into action, and resulted in Iolene's death. His dragon fell apart (and he didn't do much better himself); he was arrested some time later, and after being held in captivity for some time, was handed over to Monaco for retribution. His father never spoke to him again.
On the 22nd day of Month 5, Turn 30, I'kris and Svissath went between.
Relationships
At Monaco:
- M'kris: I tried. Nothing I ever did was good enough.
- Indalys: I never, ever doubted your love for me. You were perfect. Please don't blame yourself.
- Mirinda: I'm so proud of you. Always. You're going to be an amazing Weyrwoman. You already are.
- Oriane & M'kar: I barely remember life before your leadership. My grandmother was a different kind of Weyrwoman, but I still think she'd approve of you. Monaco flourishes under you.
- R'hin: I didn't expect to respect you. I didn't used to. But... I think you loved me more than my father did. Thank you.
At High Reaches:
- Lujayn: I'm sorry. You were so nice to me, and now... I'm so so sorry.
- H'kon: I thought you were my friend. I don't know what went wrong. You were supposed to go down with me and... maybe it's better you didn't. I'm sorry.
- Brieli: I didn't really get to know you when you were at Monaco, but I really do think Iesaryth made the right choice.
- Azaylia: You seem like such a nice person. I hope you're strong enough to be Weyrwoman. If it ends up being you.
- Iolene: The enemy. Dead. Half this Weyr seemed to hate you. They were terrified of what you might do. Others... they really seemed to like you. I'm glad I never knew you.
- Taikrin: Not such a bad sort, really.
- Leova: You treated me like I was an idiot. I'll never forgive that. (I guess I never got the opportunity.)
- Tajent: Friendly. Sociable. Helpful.
- K'del: You seem like a good, strong Weyrleader. I'm sorry you quit. You were better than her. I'm sorry. I know you must hate me.
- Barnabas: I never thought someone like you could be a kindred spirit, but you were. Thank you.
- Vallia(?): I'm not sure I even really care who you really are. You... helped. Somehow. One good thing, in all of the mess.
- Kinory: Someone from home. I'm sorry. Please don't let them be cruel to you because of me. I was so proud.
