Description
Black hair falls in jagged edges, framing a sharp face. There's nothing soft about Alysce's features where the curve of her brows are black and fine, over black cat-shaped eyes. Her nose is a slim line and her lips are full yet precise. Her cheekbones are high and her jaw is angled. She is tall yet slim, the sun warming skin and still holding color from a warmer clime.
Alysce was born to a pair of master harpers, Allent and Scenna, both assigned to teaching positions at the Hall. She is their first and only child together, the whirlwind romance of their young adult lives quickly falling apart where Scenna fell in love with another harper and Allent was distant and busy. Journeyman Scenna would go on to have another four children by her next significant other, while Allent would not. They both, however, were civil in the raising of Alysce.
And in the place of the love and warmth of a family, which Scenna reserved for her other family and Allent reserved for his master pieces, Alysce had herself and the Hall. Even with the encouragement and expectation of her parents, the Hall never meant the same to her, however, as it did to those apprentices that she saw come from around Pern. It was /home/, but it wasn't what she meant to do with life.
What she was meant to do with life never came to her. There was never any brilliant lightning strike of inspiration, so she studied at the Hall. Even with training all of her life, she'd always been mediocre; she lacks the passion that would make her great even if she's technically sound in every area. Despite this reality, Allent pulled some strings to have her assigned to Journeyman Quint as soon as she walked the tables to senior apprentice two turns ago.
Since then, she has been studying with Quint, with the hope that she will make a proper journeyman herself, some day. For the past two turns, they had been at Southern Boll, and have recently (5 months) ago transferred to High Reaches Weyr, with a new addition of a talented apprentice, Ryneton.
