{{WeyrlingNav |title=Month2}}Sometimes, it's hard to keep up with exactly what is going on with other PCs, and, even when we know what is going on, it's not always easy to know how much of it we might have ICly noticed. This page is designed to provide a place for to lay out anything other weyrlings (and the weyrling staff) might know about what is going on with your character. If you've written a vignette that you think sums things up, feel free to link to it. Otherwise, you can write a few lines, a paragraph or two, or even nothing at all (this is wholly optional).

After the slightly rough end to the first month, the second has seen improvement.  Kazavoth and D'kan had a conversation about was and wasn't cool while D'kan was sleeping.  So far there have been no transgressions, as far as D'kan knows.  The dragon's meal times have been hit and miss.  If he's the first one at a fresh side o' beef, he's happy to tear into it without D'kan getting his hands dirty.  If one of the others has already had first dibs, though, you'll likely see D'kan elbow deep with a blade, removing the remaining choice cuts.  Otherwise, the pair has been keeping on the down low.  Exams came and went.  Their performance so far during the anatomy and ailment classes has been good, while D'kan's attention during his history classes could be better.  Kazavoth thinks those are as important as the Harpers say they are, though, so perhaps things will get better.

During the month, D'kan was paired with G'mli, a brownrider from Snowdrift Wing.  The two seem to get along well enough, though the mentor's most notable teaching seems to be which drinks are worth getting at the pub.  Whatever he's doing, it must be working, though, as D'kan and Kazavoth have thus far been able to stay out of any further trouble.

The end of the month found Kazavoth even more comfortable in his own hide, if that's possible, and D'kan fraying at the seams.  Maybe it's a lack of sleep, maybe it's some underlying tension with his mentor, or maybe it's something else altogether.  He requested a retest in local history toward the end of the month and was able to raise his marks enough to get out of further basic classes going into the next month.  His lessons in world history will continue.  Probably for a while.  It's not the geography.  That he's got down pat.  It's all those names and dates.  An attitude adjustment would help.

Weyrling exams are hard, mmk.
+

+
Even though E'sren has had a pretty sweet study partner, he's still struggling a little bit with the math and the history. Strong suits are writing/reading, grammar has become something he's good at, and he knows geography and is learning more and more about that. So overall his scores have been reflecting these things, but pretty much any moment not spent caring for Ahruth or eating, sleeping, exercising, is spent studying. Anytime anybody sees him outside of them taking their dinners together, he's off studying with Sabella somewhere, or holed up by himself reading out of some big scary book.
+

+
He's only told like two people that he's trying to get into the weyrling leadership program, but somehow word travelled anyway, so that might be something people know. Ahruth like to spend time with his brothers and sisters, even those brothers and sisters from another mother and mister. He doesn't overly express himself with imagery when speaking to a group, tending to keep to words, which his rider is flooding their minds with every day and that might be why.
+

+
Regarding any rumors of weyrlings kissing each other or other people, if approached about any of it E'sren will expertly change the subject to anything else. How about that weather, right?

In the second month, K'zin's confusion and frustration seem to be abating. He and Rasavyth seem to be settling into a pattern of being together. The two are coming to an understanding and learning to work together. Rasavyth still does exercises only grudgingly, but K'zin has been spending extra time training as often as he can. He's not used to so much book work not paired with the hard labor of the forge. He's been getting to the forge when he can, and volunteering (with frowns from the

K'zin, like the others who are struggling with history, is studying hard, but also looking for better options. He's started recruiting people to work on a table top miniature trivia board game to help the weyrlings with their history (+bbpost 7/11). Other than studying, he's been seen to eat dinner with Sabella more often than not, and things are once more a little weird between K'zin and N'ky (since night of day 7, month 5).

Rasavyth has been showing more sides of himself. There's always charm, but he's had his moody moments, his playful ones, even his rarer ''cuddly'' ones. In evidence of their growing intimacy, K'zin has been spotted to nap with the bronze in Rasavyth's couch from time to time.

Jocelyn scores well overall on her placement exams, which probably doesn't come as too much of a surprise given her turns of lower caverns management. She's still more apt to criticize first and consider feelings later, but she's not unwilling to (brusquely) help those who ask for assistance so long as they demonstrate that they're ''trying'' rather than attempting to sail through some obstacle with someone else's wind. Calisthenics, this month, require more work in her off-time since she isn't the fastest or the one with the most stamina.

== N'ky ==
+
Learning dragon anatomy is ''interesting'', and a subject matter that ultimately isn't too difficult for her since she's good at memorizing and understanding how pieces connect into a working whole. The etiquette classes, on the other hand, aren't the easiest things for the redhead, who hasn't traveled much aside from having visited the occasional local gather over the turns. She's good at memorizing what to say and to whom, but struggles to mask her instinctive, disapproving looks and mannerisms behind politesse. While she has dry wit in spades, it's a tricky thing to curb it into a tone that can still come across as appropriately polite. Since Impression, she's been slowly improving at biting her tongue; Aidavanth's influence ''helps'' in some situations, certainly, but she's yet more apt to choose to be blunt rather than frank.
It’s no secret that N’ky was freaking out over the exams. Reading and writing aren’t a problem, but maths? History? Eurgh. Lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) for him he’s nearly back to his old sleeping habits, which meant extra hours in the nights before the placement tests to spend poring over stupid hides. Just ask him. They’re all stupid – especially those ones with numbers. He’s gladly taken help where he can get it, so if your weyrling would be the type to volunteer an hour or so of study time, maybe we can play it out!
+

The studying didn’t pay off as well as he’d hoped it would in the end; he just scraped by in history, but arithmetic was a disaster and he’s wound up with extra work in both subjects. He’s kind of embarrassed by it, but he’s trying hard to get better.
+
Speaking of Aidavanth: She continues to be warmly solicitous of her siblings and classmates, cheerfully engaging with any and all who pass by even if it's just to share a quick hello. She still requires a fair amount of Jocelyn's attention while she's awake; she isn't demonstrating signs of being mentally or emotionally needy, but there's so much ''more'' of her to oil. There's a significant amount of itching, but nothing out of the ordinary presents in her physicals to suggest that it's due to anything but constant growth.

On a slightly sadder note, Cailluneth is no longer small enough for him to carry. N’ky’s a little down about it but of course he’s proud that she’s growing up to be so big… in ''all'' senses of the word - Cailluneth is by no means svelte! Perhaps all that carrying about has added to her hatchling tubbiness, because she’s certainly round.

Following Kazavoth’s incident with the wherry, it’s no secret that N’ky was caught by weyrwoman Azaylia, after having snuck Cailluneth into the weyr’s lower caverns to let her hunt tunnelsnakes. Cai’s been crowing proudly about her kills, though N’ky is sheepish about getting caught and is adhering to the rules even more strictly. (Azaylia and I are working through this scene on googledocs, I’ll update this bit when we’re finished!)

Month two sees Lys and Evyth becoming more social; still largely 'fringe' of the class, Evyth is undeniably the more social of the two. Lys tries to keep her attitude in check, but it does slip out from time to time. Some might notice that she seems to be struggling as reality is setting in about just what the life of a dragonrider entails; not struggling because she objects, just because it's a lot to wrap a head around. She still shares blissful moments alone with Evyth, but finds weyrlinghood increasingly demanding. Evyth is friendly as ever, still a little worried for the occasional darker moods that strike. Mostly, in classes and exercises, aside from Evyth's clumsy moments, they're unremarkable (and only occasionally challenging.

There were more than a few upraised eyebrows when Silva pulled off that placement in math - wasn't she just a ditz? Something must have filtered down from her craftmaster father though, because in most matters she manages to be the middle of the pack. Except for World History because, like... who even cares? It's an attitude that has her teachers shaking their heads in despair.

'''Local/world history''': Local history she exceeded in. World history? Ha. Not so much. Where is Benden? What happened at Fort Hold ten turns ago? Who was the Lord Holder then? Sabs has no idea.

Dragon anatomy is gross kthanks. But since Zaisyreth seems interested Silva has forced herself to look at the pictures and learn what she can. She even followed C'ris' advice and finally visited the healers to have her blue's needle sharp talons trimmed down so he's not cutting his thin hide while sleeping.

In the beginning of Month 2, while other weyrlings were beginning to settle in more and get more sleep, she wasn’t. A rash of nightmares disrupted her nights (and may have disrupted others too) for a period. Towards the end however, it seems to have been brought under control. And she’s refrained from commenting much on it (or at all) except to a few close friends or when directly confronted. In every other way, she's been about the same or better. Even if her cheerfulness seems more tempered these days.

Her hair is cut. Woe. :(

Ghislaith hasn’t been anymore sociable with her clutch siblings. She’s there to lend a listening ear, but they shouldn’t expect much in the way of conversation. Not that many seem too keen on spending that much time with her anyway.

Any way Silva can get //out// of work she's taking it, but under the careful eye of the WLM and AWLM she isn't getting away with as much as she could. Maybe there is a useful member of the weyr in there. It's just... buried deep deep under her skin. There hasn't been a whole lot of integration with the others - for once it seems like Silva is a loner. It's fairly often that Silva is found in tears though, or right on the edge of them, so maybe the isolation is starting to get to her, even if she's snappish when someone else tries to reach out.

== Telavi ==
+
Zaisyreth takes life exactly one day in time. He has endless patience for Silva's mistakes and foibles, gently encouraging her till she gets it or even supporting her on another course of action. In many ways he enables her, but it's possible there is change to be found. Nothing ever seems to ruffle his feathers, even when baby-foibles cause him to get hurt and Silva is just shy of hysterics.

Telavi is not a fan of exams. She doesn't like being evaluated, and it's not a secret that she doesn't really see the point once she's proved she's not illiterate. Her handwriting isn't bad, though it fails when she's in a hurry, and it's littered with abbreviations and run on sentences. Here's how her tests will probably fall out:
+
== T'gar ==

* Math will be her strong suit... to a point. Calculations, conversions, algebra and geometry, she can usually pull off in her head and quickly, too. (Even if she mentally translates it into figuring out fabric for a dress.) Anything beyond that, though, she's never learned.
+
== Torlynna ==
* History will be her weak suit unless she gets in gear, and even then, how much can she learn in such a short time? She's approached K'zin and C'wlin, but they seem to be pretty much opposites in terms of knowledge and pretty much the same in terms of usefulness. She hasn't yet been convinced what the point is about this either (beyond just passing exams), especially since High Reaches seems to be changing everything anyway.
+
* Reading and writing are just fine for her in terms of understanding. Telavi can learn things through reading and can express her opinions through writing, and she knows her way around a persuasive argument. However, she isn't the best at gauging the right amount of details to use to support her assertions, especially if an answer seems obvious (she doesn't like to show her work in math either) which is related to how she has little to no sense of formal structure.  Essentially, her writing is a matter of transcribing what she would say out loud.
+
* When it comes to geography, let's just say that Telavi can place the major Holds, Crafts and Weyrs on a map, and a few more in the Benden coverage area... but that's about it. What might not come across in examinations is that she also doesn't have the best sense of direction.
+

Solith is often off wandering around, doing her own thing, or else sleeping (or 'sleeping') in somebody's couch, not necessarily her own. She likes to pick up things and bring them home. However, while Telavi takes diligent care of her, the two just don't seem to be as close as a lot of other pairs.
