Recent arrival to High Reaches
Formerly claimed to be the son of Aughan, Lord of Crom Hold; his mother, however, was proven to be a liar.
Full name is Weylaughn (pronounced: WAY-lawn); typically goes by Wey (WAY).
His real father is a brownrider named Y'nu.
Description
Tall. Lean. Muscular. Weylaughn is all of those things - and then some. His hair is a slicked back mane of long, black hair that's tied in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. Dark, mobile eyebrows arch over cool, gray eyes that are often alight with amusement. Aristocracy is writ large on his face, from his noble brow to the aquiline line of his nose and the firm set of his mouth. His posture is straight and confident - or simply arrogant and cocky. He is not one who has had to work hard at all in life - and it shows.
His clothing is generally high end, if not nearly as opulent as he might prefer; typically, he wears a well-embroidered tunic over a long-sleeved shirt, with leather trousers and boots to match. There is always a belt, gloves, and a cloak to complete the ensemble. He tends toward the cooler colors - white, black, gray, silver and blue - with a splash of purple or red from time to time. A Crom Hold knot sits on his shoulder.

History
His story is mostly that of his mother - Yewlani. A young Journeyman Harper posted to Crom Hold and little more - at first. But as trouble started brewing between High Reaches and Crom, she proved to be sympathetic to the 'Reaches - and hatched a plan to garner Lord Aughan's favor. The daughter of a wealthy Harper would certainly make a fine prize indeed - or so she believed.
The story, as she tells it, is this: she was impregnated by Aughan, only for him to deny her when she told him the truth. She claims to have letters signed by him that both acknowledged their relationship - and denied the potential bastard in her womb. Weylaughn, as she'll tell anyone with an ear, is Aughan's son - and a bastard who was denied by a spiteful father.
She ultimately fled from Crom Hold in disgrace, only to take up residence in a lesser Hold at the behest of a fellow Harper. Seven Echoes Hold was a miserable place, but it would do well enough.
She wed the Holder there - a certain unfortunate-looking fellow named Pulhaun - and gave him several children over the intervening turns. Her father's death left her with significant wealth - and her own work as an arbiter and lawyer has ensured that she will not be without funds. Pulhaun is as well-off as one can expect for such a small Holding - and he regularly fights to keep hold of what marks he can.
Which brings one to Weylaughn's story properly:
He was raised by his mother as her favorite, a Lordling in the making - or so she would regularly remind him. She gave him the best education she possibly could and raised him on a litany of histories. He would have fine penmanship and eloquence - and an extremely overbearing sense of entitlement, of course. He would play Lord over his younger siblings - which was deeply encouraged by his mother, but earned him countless rolled eyes from the other children.
At thirteen turns, she tried to get him into the Harpering craft - but he was removed after six months, owing to his difficult personality and entitlement complex. All was well enough, though; mother took him back with open arms and he was allowed to loaf about the Hold for a few more turns until Pulhaun insisted he do something. Wey grudgingly took up butchering, which primarily involved cutting small things up and doing as little work as humanly possible. He much preferred to spend his time carousing - or in the library, curiously enough.
Thus was his childhood and early teen years. He spent his time womanizing and drinking as he got older; perhaps not terribly successfully, but he has every earmark of being a playboy by night - and a studious fellow by day. He persists in building his education and understanding of the world - when he's not chasing skirts or being difficult to figures in a position of authority. He chafes under any efforts of controlling him - but if the price is right or the motivation is good, he might be brought to heel.
For a while.
It was only after Lord Aughan's marriage - and the subsequent birth of a potential heir - that he realized his position was in peril. He's made his way to High Reaches to test the waters there before he pursues the aid of the Council - backed with the support of Seven Echoes Hold and the evidence that his mother claims to have.
But does he have any real claim?
Only Yewlani knows for certain.
