Roughly a turn ahead of schedule, Niahvth rose for her second High Reaches flight in the middle of month nine, confirming her as senior queen. She rose while Cadejoth was out of the Weyr; it surprised many when the bronze showed up-- sans rider-- to join the chase, and eventually to catch. Complicating matters was the fact that K'del, then dealing with a diplomatic incident at Greenfields, was stabbed in the back amidst the chase. K'del survived, but was sent to Southern Weyr to recuperate with his family, leaving Irianke to appoint Mielline, blue Corobith's rider and Wingleader of Snowdrift, as her acting Weyrleader.

K'del returned six weeks later, largely recovered, and well and truly in time for Niahvth to clutch an impressive-- and surprising, giving the abbreviated nature of the flight-- fifteen eggs. With young Roszadyth also newly risen, however, and relations with Tillek being such that no candidates would be forthcoming from there, the question of candidates remained.
Finally, halfway through the first month of Turn 39, Niahvth's clutch hatched early in the morning. One bronze, two brown, four blue and five green dragons were later escorted to the weyrling barracks... leaving behind a full three unhatched eggs to be taken between by K'del and Wingleader F'manis of Taiga.
