WYSK
Personal assistant to Farideh at High Reaches.
Former Sr. Apprentice Beastcrafter, resigned in Turn 38, after which the BCH banned Search.
Daughter of a somewhat notorious Istan weyrsecond.
Stood for Niahvth & Reisoth's clutch D25 M7 T37, and failed to Impress.
Keeps a spindly brown firelizard by the name of Sully Jr.
Bristly on the outside. And kind of on the inside, too.
Description
Faryn looks smug by default, at work or at rest, and that's what's easy to notice first. Narrow-faced with dark hair, sharp, interesting features and a smirk that has taken up permanent residence, it is easy to believe she might be enjoying a joke at the expense of whomever or whatever her dark eyes have seen fit to light upon at that particular moment. It can be galling, too, because at five-feet-four, she still somehow manages to carry herself with an air that suggests not only an ability to defend any enjoyment she might be having, but a willingness. Though slender and lean, weighing barely more than seven stone if anything over at all, she is tough at a glance, (over)confident in bearing, and ostensibly scrappy if the need arises.
More adverse to being wet than cold, Faryn's clothing choice is comfortable and practical. Her trousers are wherhide and tempered against the rain, snow and slush of winter. Her jacket, too, with thin spots at the elbows and lined with comfortable but plain wool at the collar and cuffs, is perfectly serviceable for her duties, accented only by the uncomplicated twist of her knot. She keeps her long hair plaited, an action that thins her face and sharpens her features considerably.
WYSK
- Sr. Apprentice Beastcrafter posted to High Reaches.
- Keeps a betting ledger on all things weyr-life, from flights to hatchings and everything between, and a deck of cards for all the other times.
- Stood for Niahvth and Reisoth's clutch D25 M7 T37, and failed to Impress.
- Bristly on the outside, but soft and cuddly on the inside.
History
Faryn was born in Ista Weyr to then-Weyrsecond Fadra, rider of brown Sulizath. Although she spent her first two Turns at the weyr, in the care of various nursemaids and nannies, by the time she was four she was fostered in her mother's place of origin in Tillek, with her sailor father. She grew up working alongside him and her several half-siblings, and was put on a boat in her formative at the insistence of both her parents, an ordeal which ended abruptly when it became abundantly clear that she was unable to stomach being at sea for any long period of time, despite her best efforts. She was banished and landbound after that, where she dabbled among the master craftsmen of Tillek in an attempt to find her niche. Vintner failed her astoundingly, as did the Healerhall, and eventually it was the Beastcraft that took her in and helped her flourish.
Her formative years were spent in the Beasthall in Keroon, where she was apprenticed with each of the crafters until it became clear her talents would be best used with the runners and other herdbeasts, with whom she had a decisive knack. Her assignment in the stables was doubly appropriate when she stopped growing at the extremely modest height of five-feet-four, making her the perfect jockey height, a fact that was lost on nobody, least of all Faryn. At fifteen, she began racing the runners with her peers, a thing she proved to have a knack and talent for, and a hobby she indulged in frequently despite being told often to stop it right now. She never listened, and in fact did not stop racing until she was forced to, first by the Storm of Turn 36. Shortly after, she was posted to High Reaches Weyr as a senior apprentice, with the not-so-subtle suggestion that she would need to start focusing her behavior on productive points if she wanted to earn enough trust to remain in the craft and eventually walk the tables.
So, of course, in Turn 37, she Stood for a clutch instead. And ultimately, she failed to Impress. Being left Standing left Faryn confused, unconfident and very directionless. As her friends moved into weyrlinghood with their new lifemates, she remained a wildly spinning compass, unable to determine a path for her future, except the vagary of wanting to do something different, something useful and something better than her work in the stables.
Relationships
Family
- Fadra, brown Sulizath's - A strained relationship, with awkward, dishonest communication and infrequent visits. Though Faryn makes no secret of her parentage - indeed seems rather proud of the things her mother accomplished before she stepped down as weyrsecond at Ista Weyr - she's never been particularly close to Fadra. Describing her as "a really cool auntie" or "a piss-poor mother" depending on her mood.
High Reaches
- Edyis - Thank you, for helping me prepare; I don't think you misled me, but you made not Impressing sound so much easier than it is.
- Farideh - We're not friends, not really, but I think you'll be fine with your new life and responsibilities. And you have plenty of people to support you.
- K'zin - Told you so.
- Schuyler - You're not alone, you know. There's always next time, and we can move forward until then.
- T'mic - I miss you so very much; I know this won't be long, certainly not forever, but I hope you're not too different when you have freedom again.
- Quinlys - You've earned my respect; take care of my friends.
- Z'kiel - I told you you wouldn't be going back, didn't I?

Meyers-Briggs
Type: ISFP
Variant: Assertive Role: Explorer
Strengths: Passionate, curious, sensitive to others, imaginative Weaknesses: Fiercely independent, unpredictable, competitive, fluctuating self-esteem
"The biggest challenge facing ISFPs is planning for the future. Finding constructive ideals to base their goals on and working out goals that create positive principles is no small task. Unlike Sentinel types, ISFPs don't plan their futures in terms of assets and retirement. Rather, they plan actions and behaviors as contributions to a sense of identity, building a portfolio of experiences, not stocks."

Gogo Tomago - Big Hero 6
Aptly named Go Go Tomago knows what it takes to be fast. She's tough, athletic and loyal to the bone, but not much of a conversationalist. Popping bubble gum and delivering well-placed sarcasm are totally her speed. The daredevil adrenaline junkie is at her best on wheels, and when Go Go joins forces with Big Hero 6, she rolls like never before, using maglev discs as wheels, shields and throwing weapons.
