Former Lords Holders

  • Braeden and Yuliye (Turn 28 to Turn 31, 10th Interval)
  • Rynien and Shaie (Turn 8 - Turn 28, 10th Interval)
  • Beradin (Approx. Turn 189 - Turn 195, 9th Pass)

Things you might know...

  • Former Lord Rynien became Lord Reaches at the age of twenty-four. He married his wife, the lady Shaie of Sattle Hold at eighteen. He was publically known as a benevolent Lord who led by example: a happy, perfect family of four.
  • Rynien's son, Braeden, spent many turns fostered to Tillek, staying long after he ought to have returned, well into his twenties. Those close to the family might know that in private, relations between father and son were not perfect.
  • Rynien's daughter, Issedi, was engaged to marry Lord Aughan of Crom for some turns. It would have been the first match between major holds in the same coverage area in some time, making it a politically interesting match. Aughan was close to twice Issedi's age, however, and those close to the family would have known that Shaie worried about her daughter.
  • Rynien died, unexpectedly, in Turn 28. Braeden was recalled home from Tillek, where he became Lord Holder at twenty-five. Soon after, Issedi's marriage to Aughan was postponed, and later, cancelled altogether.
  • Since then, Issedi has married Devaki, one of the Exiles, and Braeden has married Yuliye of Crom.
  • Devaki become Lord Holder at age 29, after the abrupt (but not, to many, surprising) resignation of Braeden. Issedi and Devaki have four children together - a son Vinien (widely named heir) and three daughters (Sealene, Esiara and Alani).
  • Devaki is generally well thought of by most of the Hold residents, and his occasional public stances against the Weyr's decisions has made it clear that his loyalties lie with his people before the Weyr -- but some suspect the Lord Holder's definition of his people rather favors his fellow former exiles over the native High Reaches Holders.
  • In the Turns since he took Hold, Devaki has worked hard to rebuild the Hold's ship-building capabilities, which had fallen by the wayside during the end of the last Pass. High Reaches Hold now boasts a compliment of ships ranging in duties from protecting the Hold's waters, to providing trading and transport that is more self-reliant than previously. Possibly as a result of this, the Seacrafters are well-treated at the Weyr, with a local Master serving as advisor to the Lord Holder.
  • In month thirteen of Turn 36, Issedi died - murdered by an assassin intended to kill Devaki. The murder was exiled to the Islands that Lord Devaki and the others were once exiled to.

The Council

Since he took Hold, Devaki has held a council of advisors, similar to the Island's hierarchy. Only recently has the council's make-up been more widely known outside those in the know: in addition to former Lord Holder Braeden, there are two older Blooded High Reachians, and three Islanders. Rounding out the council are a non Blooded farmer -- a woman of all things! -- and interestingly, a Seacraft Master. The fact that there is no Harper on this so-called-council is probably cause for discussion, though the Hold's Journeyman hasn't spoken out publicly -- yet.
