Description
At just under six feet, this bronze-skinned man isn't imposing due to his height but rather the proud set of his broad shoulders and the dauntless conviction in his honey brown eyes. Dark, arching brows add to the serious ambiance this man can exude, offset somewhat by shapely lips and wavy black hair that pours back and down to his shoulders from a widow's peak - although grey has begun to take over where black once reigned. He wears a militant style of dragonrider leathers, nothing more than is necessary for flight but tailored appropriately for a man of his position.
Relatives are mostly dragonriders. Father, grandfather, and at least one uncle are bronzeriders, and they are staunch traditionalists. Impressed Boulevardier Bronze Bijedth a few months after turning 15. Hematite rider since graduation. Became Weyrleader D9 M11 T26 I10. Hattie gave birth to Nimarie, N'muir's first child, D10 M1 T28 I10. Suffered a heart attack D1 M8 T30 Hattie gave birth to Nehmet, N'muir's second child, D8 M4 T32 I10. Sometime after D17 M6 T33 I10, rumour spread of his having been involved with the renegade dragonriders.

History
Born Day 11 Month 6 Turn 27 of the Tenth Pass. Mother, Irma, was a Thread-hardened greenrider who lacked a single maternal bone in her body. N'ran was a traditional bronzerider in every sense and lived up to every stereotype ever written about bronzeriders. Irma had nothing to do with her only child and perished in Fall when he was still very young. N'ran and the rest of N'muir's paternal family only involved themselves in N'muir's life after he Impressed Bijedth.
N'muir was young and wanted to be like these older dragonriders, but he felt dumb and so consumed by Bijedth, and Bijedth seemed so far removed from what a bronze dragon was supposed to be. Bijedth wanted to be pampered, and held, and cuddled, and loved things so much - shiny things, pretty things, soft things, ... girly things. So N'muir bargained with his lifemate. The bargain was - and still is - that Bijedth gets what he wants when he wants it as long as when he wants what he wants doesn't compromise their reputation - or what N'muir perceives to be their reputation.
Blending in as your typical bronze rider and dragon was easier during the Pass, and easier still when the comet brought unpredictable Falls. Everyone watched the skies. Everyone struggled together. The Weyr had power. N'muir had a purpose and the road of being a bronzerider wasn't necessarily easy but at least it was clearly marked. But the end of the Comet Pass also meant the end of that marked path through life, and N'muir relied more heavily upon the guidance of older dragonriders - N'ran and his cousins especially - as though they might know the way through the wilderness dubbed freedom from fear in the Interval. For N'muir, the Interval held more fear than any Fall ever had. What would the Interval mean for Fort? For him? He'd heard tall tales of Fort's past. When Fort lost Jenna and her gold Niyath, and then Zahava and her Ciath, N'muir felt his world coming apart at every seam, and the future was a frightening unknown.
By the time the herdbeast plague hit in Turn 24, he'd lost faith in Fort's leadership. Each Weyrleader seemed to be worse than the previous, in N'muir's mind, and the feeding restrictions made scavengers out of the proud dragonriders of Fort Weyr. And so there comes a time when every good, law-abiding man makes his mistakes, and N'muir found himself befriending some of the weyrleaders' non-supporters. It seemed like an innocent plan to help at the time but N'muir didn't ask enough questions, or just not the right ones. Together, he and about eleven other dragonriders as well as some residents of the Weyr began building a cothold and corral in the woods. They brought in herdbeasts to keep a stock of disease-free beasts in case no one could stop the spread of the illness. But the cothold and beasts became the supply for something that N'muir hadn't wished to participate in - separation from the Weyr.
When Bijedth unexpectedly caught Elaruth and made N'muir Weyrleader in Turn 26, N'muir's life began to spiral out of control. Not only was he in a position he was unprepared for but he was also still involved with a group of renegades who wanted to separate from the very faction he now headed. One of the renegade's dragons - Isaphe's green Nyvenirth - became distressed; her rider had been making her spend too much time away from the Weyr and it was taking its toll on the green. N'muir and Bijedth couldn't wait any longer. They did the only thing they could do - they told Hattie and Elaruth.
N'muir's entire leadership was plagued since the beginning, starting with the death of Southern Boll's Lord Visrain dying at the hatching feast after Bijedth and Elaruth's first clutch hatched. Most of the strife was, in N'muir's mind, his own doing, all relating back to his involvement with the renegades.
The Weyr suffered most often by short tithes but there was the more notable tragedies: murders and mayhem by would-be murderers, ruined relations with Southern Boll and High Reaches for a time, half a clutch of dragons eggs stolen, an earthquake that led to the collapse of the weyrling barracks and killing one pair, kidnapping of Ali and Hattie by the very group that N'muir once belonged to.
Not all of his actions have led to misfortune, it should be said. Earlier on, N'muir had little respect for holder folk or their ways but when it became clear that the way through the Interval was stronger relations with Holds, N'muir personally gave himself entirely to the idea. He has paid a visit to nearly every little tiny speck of a cothold from one end of Fort to the other, and it's very typical for him to be out of the Weyr for all of autumn helping holders bring in their crops. For the most part, one of the only Holders he has not met with regularly has been Southern Boll.
He and Hattie managed to hide his past involvement with the renegades for over six Turns. It wasn't until Turn 33 that N'muir big secret came out, and quite by accident. Elise, Hattie's assistant, had discovered a note the Weyrwoman had written admitting N'muir's shady past when she had become very sick while pregnant with N'muir's second child. She had never meant for anyone to read it, and Elise hadn't meant for the Weyr to find out, but they did and N'muir's reputation was ruined.
The Renegade Weyrleader prevailed again, but only by a hair, Bijedth catching (or was it more like /stealing/?) Elaruth for a fourth time, securing his title but not strengthening his public image any within the Weyr.
Relationships
Hematite - N'muir has a very strong dedication to his wingmates and tends to favour them over others.
