Description

Long shiny chestnut hair is worn loose, in easy curls that frame Brieli's heart-shaped face and tumble down past her shoulders artfully. The same brown tones as her tresses lightly warm her tan skin, color long-lashed dark chocolate eyes, and shade graceful brows. Cupid's-bow lips curve into a smile often and easily, if sometimes enigmatically. Tall and slender, she has the lean lines and long toughened fingers of a young woman accustomed to work. She dresses to emphasize long legs and minimal curves - most usually in close-fitting trousers or leathers, short skirts, high boots, and stylish tops in light, bright colors to match. She rarely wears a knot, but for the one on her jacket - that of a junior weyrwoman with High Reaches' colors.

Background

Brieli's father was a miner, her mother was a seamstress. Her father died in a mining accident - a fairly common occurrence at Crom; her mother raised her until she was about sixteen, when a bad cold worsened one winter. She'd learned most of her trade from her mother already, and picked up a few more skills from helping out where she could - enough skills to make her restless, especially with no ties to keep her near the mines. It wasn't much more than a month after her eighteenth turnday before she left to start over at High Reaches.

At least, that's what she says.

• Brieli Impressed gold Iesaryth at Monaco Weyr at the end of Turn 28.
• However, their weyrlinghood was spent at High Reaches, still their home.
• She's from Crom Hold, but has little interest in or loyalty to it.
• In fact, her hazy loyalties have been a topic of discussion in the past.
• She was a seamstress, but a regular in the records room before Search.
• She spends her time with Azaylia, who is her total opposite.
• Dark in humor and in outlook, she's still outgoing and easy to talk to.
• Fort's Vhaeryth visits Iesaryth's ledge semi-regularly, despite gossip.

Relationships

• Sometimes, Azaylia is simultaneously worrying, impressive, and frustrating to Brieli. She is concerned that her friend's 'good heart' and retiring nature allows people (and perhaps, her own lifemate) to take advantage of her - not necessarily something desired in a Weyrwoman. Not sure if she can work for the other woman, she's not exactly sure she wants to be in charge, either. Though Azaylia doesn't know the truth of her identity, she's still counted as one of Brieli's only friends.

• H'kon seems like a reliable sort, but Brieli finds talking to him like pulling teeth at times - painful to extract the smallest bit of information. She's fairly sure they disagree on everything.

• Brieli wanted to find a way to let I'kris live - due to her own issues as much as any concern for his dragon - but she couldn't. She'll carry those deaths for a long, long time. It didn't bring Iolene back.

• Brieli trusted Iolene as much as she was able. She'd considered telling Io her the 'truth' of her identity the way she'd been told the truth about Ysavaeth, but she waited too long. She found the body first, and the loss seems to have affected her deeply. She might have spread the new ideas they discussed to provoke instability initially, but she's come to believe in them.

• It had become obvious there was something about K'del that Brieli dislikes, some reason she'd like him gone, but the circumstances of his resignation were likely not the ones she'd wanted. Since Iolene's death, she's been avoiding him entirely.

• Iesaryth thinks Vrianth is smart - that, along with recent circumstances have had Brieli consulting with Leova, though she thinks both green and greenrider are too observant for someone with things to hide.

• N'rov is definitely trouble, and no one seems to like the fact that he and Brieli are involved, but she has zero care to give on that front. She considers him one of her greatest strengths and weaknesses all in one.

• Brieli likes Quinlys well enough, but she secretly and silently agreed with Meara's decision in choosing a different and more experienced Weyrlingmaster. Even now, she's not sure the bluerider is cut out for the job.

• R'hin should likely not be trusted - but Brieli does, to a certain extent, and she's not really sure why. One of the only people she's met that might have the same sorts of secrets she does.

• Brieli finds Taikrin straightforward and up-front, which is a refreshing change.
