Description
Thick curls crown his head like an umber halo, glossy in their dark cocoa shade. They're cut to a length where he often has to brush them from his large, honey-flecked brown eyes. Overall, he's been somewhat lucky in the features department, with a bump in the bridge of his otherwise slender nose to suggest a break at some point, and cupid's bow lips that hide front teeth that are perhaps a tad too big, with a slight gap between the foremost two. He's a rangy sort of lad, clearly no stranger to work yet not massive on muscle, either; standing at 6'3, he has a look about him that suggests he still hasn't quite got used to the length of his limbs or the size of his feet. He wears simple, practical clothing: a well-worn shirt of once-black cotton, faded to charcoal grey, coupled with khaki trousers and brown boots that, hidden beneath his pants, come to just above his ankles. N'ky wears a braided cord bracelet around his right wrist, and a thin leather thong around his neck is threaded through a piece of polished amber.
WYSK
- Born in Far Reach Holding, where the livelihood revolves mostly around Beastcrafting and trade of woolly animal-related goods - including the animals themselves
- Was training to be a farrier like his uncle Ansly, who's a trained Smith and posted to High Reaches Weyr - that's how Nicky ended up there, shortly after Hraedhyth and Iesaryth rose
- Has official Smith metalwork training and official Beastcraft training in hoof care, specifically for runners, but was never apprenticed to either Craft
- Has a stutter, but he's working on it. It eases off when he's more relaxed, gets worse when emotions are high
- Has a traditional outlook in terms of Weyr politics; he doesn't understand them, but he believes Weyrleaders should be men
- Wants Azaylia and K'del to lead High Reaches, and doesn't mind making his preferences known to the 'right people'
- Was asked by K'del to stand for the double clutches of gold Hraedhyth and brown Szadath, and gold Iesaryth and brown Arekoth
- Straight to the Heart Green Cailluneth found him on the Sands, and made him her N'ky

History
Nicky grew up as the middle child in a large brood, one of many children on the family-owned Far Reach Holding ("where the men are men and the woollies are nervous"). His upbringing was full of cousins, sheep, runners and chores, until he was old enough to settle on an occupation. He chose to follow in his favourite uncle's footsteps to become a farrier, and went off to the Smith Hall for a couple of turns of metalwork training, before returning home to study hoof care, specifically for runners, under the Beastcrafter posted there. In his 17th turn he moved to High Reaches Weyr to continue his training under his uncle, who had been posted there; within a few months of arriving, he was asked to stand as a Candidate for Hraedhyth and Iesaryth's clutches. His Candidacy was filled with all sorts of self-revelations - but nothing made an impact on him quite like Impressing his Cailluneth.
N'ky's Relationships
- Aishani: "She makes me so nervous, which makes me stutter worse, which makes me embarrassed and I'm sure that it frustrates her. After her announcement, I'm concerned what that might mean for us."
- Alida: "She's kind of mean and quite rude - but maybe there's a reason for that? I've tried being nice to her in the past but she just pushed me away... Ilicaeth seems to have softened her a little, though, and I like this new Alida."
- Azaylia: "I like how hard she works, and she's really nice. She's my favourite for Senior Weyrwoman - she's soothing and calming and beautiful, and Cailluneth really likes Hraedhyth, too."
- Barnabas: "Faranth, no-one confuses me more than Bones. He takes everything I've always known and tests it to the limits... but I trust him. I like him - but do I like him enough to do that? ... Yes. I think I do."
- E'sren: "The guy knows magic. What more is there to be said?!"
- D'kan: "Kaeden - D'kan! - is like the big brothers I left back home - only better. And he's a good dance teacher!"
- H'kon: "Eh. He doesn't get and he thinks he knows Cailluneth, but he doesn't. I'm not so keen on him."
- Jo: "Jo's beautiful, and she seems really nice, too, but she's got something about her that suggests there's more than she's showing..."
- K'del: "I like him, and I'd like to see him in charge with Azaylia, and I want to help him get there, if I can."
- K'zin: "I used to think we had a friendship that would last forever, but that was with Wakizian. With K'zin? I don't know - he's changing. I'm changing. I don't know what it'll mean for us."
- Hana: "She's such a lady. I really like that... I really like her."
- Madilla: "She reminds me of my mum and my favourite aunts. I'm really glad I met her when I first got here."
- Mave: "I never expected to like her in the way I do. It's just so easy with her. I know she can stick up for herself, but she makes me want to keep her safe. Things are different now, though; I can't be what I want to be and she doesn't want what I can be."
- Sabella: "She comes across as a bit delicate, but I think it's just a front; there's more to her than that pretty face lets on. I'm glad she Impressed, though - I feel we'll get along really well together... but I don't like the thought of her and K'zin."
- Telavi: "I think she's having similar problems with Solith that I had with Cailluneth... maybe we can help each other. I'd like to get to know her better."
- Val: "A little intimidating, but not quite as bad as Aishani."
- Vienne: "Nice lady!"
Cailluneth's Relationships
People
- Alida: Steely blue-grey. Not cold, but strong, determined, even malleable to a degree, reflective of her changeable friendliness.
- Azaylia: Bronze, polished and pure. Pleasure and warm, like the brown of a comforting cup of tea; how can Cailluneth not like the woman who knows exactly how she likes to be scratched?
- Barnabas: Loamy brown; deep, dark, rich, fertile soil. There's the sense of being able to plant a seed and watch it grow; but what that seed actually is is something to be determined.
- D'kan: Warm, sturdy blue. His colours are an appreciation of his reliability, the way N'ky considers him as an older brother, someone to be respected and admired.
- K'zin: Hot cinnabar, laced with gold. Similar to Rasavyth's hide, but warmer, friendlier, influenced by N'ky's longterm friendship. Tending towards metallic, with the occasional throwback to the forge. She's warm towards K'zin because of his importance to N'ky.
- Mave: Mave's colour is a warm, soft pink. It comes from N'ky's affection and from the happiness of his thoughts about her, while the flashes of silver and copper, plus hints of glassy sparkle, come from the shooting star pendant he gave her at the hatching feast. Cailluneth has a soft spot for Mave, just like her rider.
- Sabella: Yellow - a little sulphurous when Ghislaith's influence is involved, but mostly sunshine.
Dragons
- Cadejoth: Dusty-pale brown, bleached bone ivory and palest silver; playfully light and somewhat wolfish.
- Hraedhyth: Revered both as her dam and as a gold, Hraedhyth is an autumnal palette.
- Ilicaeth: Sky and sand, either separated, or swirled together into a dust storm, depending on her mood towards him. Despite Ilicaeth being the only dragon other than Rasavyth (so far!) to raise her temper, she does have a fondness for him.
- Kazavoth: No single colour, but a palette of brightness and creative warmth. He may not be her brother by lineage, but Kazavoth is her favourite creative partner, a mind to meld her own with, a storyteller who weaves her colours into something fantastic. Cailluneth favours her brown clutchsibling more than any other.
- Rasavyth: Grey, mostly, but not unpleasant - more curious, a palette to be coloured in as more is learnt about him.
