Description

Dark, shiny chestnut hair is worn loose, in easy curls that frame Brieli's heart-shaped face and tumble down just to her shoulders artfully. The same brown tones as her tresses lightly warm her tan skin, color long-lashed chocolate eyes, and darken graceful brows. Cupid's-bow lips curve into a smile often and easily, if sometimes enigmatically. Tall and almost too thin, she has the lean lines and long toughened fingers of a young woman that has known a day or two of hard work. She dresses to emphasize long legs and minimal curves - most usually in close-fitting trousers or leathers, high boots, and stylish tops in light, bright colors to match.

Background

Brieli's father was a miner, her mother was a seamstress. Her father died in a mining accident - a fairly common occurrence at Crom; her mother raised her until she was about sixteen, when a bad cold worsened one winter. She'd learned most of her trade from her mother already, and picked up a few more skills from helping out where she could - enough skills to make her restless, especially with no ties to keep her near the mines. It wasn't much more than a month after her eighteenth turnday before she left to start over at High Reaches.

• Brieli is one of eight girls from High Reaches to Stand at Monaco Weyr, whose new gold hatchling would be immediately transferred to High Reaches, for reasons still unclear. At the end of Turn 28, she Impressed gold Iesaryth on Monaco's Sands, and was brought home within days.
• Before that, she Stood for for Ysavaeth and Cadejoth's clutch in Month 12 of Turn 28 along with Azaylia, Damaris and Liri, amongst others.
• Brieli is from Crom Hold, born and bred - however, she doesn't seem that loyal to her former home. Her loyalties seem to be a topic of discussion, in fact - and one Brieli herself hasn't done much to clear up.
• Even so, she's easy to talk to, seems to make herself easy to like, and has a wisdom beyond her years. She's always been quite interested in learning about High Reaches and her people.

Relationships

• Iolene is someone Brieli trusts as much as she can - with the caveat that she doesn't really trust people at all. She'd like to open up to Io in the way the goldrider has to her, but she's afraid of compromising her plans... and now, she's afraid of what Io might say if she told her any part of the 'truth'. She's given Io her support, and is willing to do what she can to help the Weyrwoman - even if that means going against the Weyrleader.

• Brieli feels somewhat protective towards Azaylia - she would like the other weyrling to feel more confident in her own abilities. She knows encouraging Azaylia could cause her problems in the end, but she can't stop from liking the woman she's described as having 'a good heart' in a world where (she believes) not many people do.

• Some of the time, K'del seems decently reasonable and likable to Brieli. She does enjoy their conversations. But most of the time... Most of the time it seems more and more obvious that there's something about the Weyrleader that she dislikes.

• Brieli likes Quinlys well enough, though she'd like the weyrlingmaster to have a bit more of a spine about some things; though she's been on the receiving end of the bluerider beginning to develop one, she'd rather than than the alternative.

• N'rov is definitely trouble, and no one seems to like the fact that he and Brieli are involved, but she has zero care to give on that front.
